Jethro entered the pub and sat in his favorite seat, he was sure Magnus would eventually want to claim this seat as well. It was at the bar, but at the far end, allowing one to see everything going on inside the pub as well as much of what was going on outside as well. After a few drinks he spotted Agent Yousif sitting at a table near the window, she had an overview of the engineering entrance. 'Good girl' he thought as he watched her cover her teammates from a safe distance. Leo and Sam should have their covers well in place by this time. He subtly reached under the bar, felt his Intel ID on his belt, noted his com badge was in his pocket and felt the handle of his concealed phaser at his side, if anything went bad he would here to clean up the mess...
"Barkeep, where's Cad hiding today? thought for sure I'd see him in here entertaining the crowds with his stories."
"He'll be in later." the bartender answered "Lots of the star fleet people are still on duty, he usually comes in and chats them up later on." the bartender went back to serving drinks at the other end.
At least he knew how long he'd have to wait before he could have a decent intelligent conversation with someone around here...

With everything going on at the moment, Krysta decided to close up shop and head to the Portal Inn. In some small ways it reminded her a little of home. Walking in the very first person Krysta looked for was Cadfael Jaco, the pubs owner. He was a pretty cool guy. But...she couldn't spot him any place. Perhaps the station commander had requested his help on a matter. The man did have oodles of wisdom.
So, Krysta simply requested something simple; a Shillelagh. An Irish drink. Then, for conversational purposes the young woman scanned the room to see who was sitting alone. Her green eyes rested on a somewhat older looking man, well older than her. Krysta took a sip of her drink before walking over.
"Looking for anyone in particular?" Krysta inquired due to the position of his seat. You could see just about anything from there.

"Looking for anyone in particular?"
"Nope."
He gave his standard one word answer and sipped his drink, he then remembered the reason he was here was to meet people and decided that his usual method of interacting with people might not be highly appreciated here. He was still getting used to station life after all.
"Was just hoping to catch a few words with Mr. Jaco."
He looked the young woman over quickly, she was an attractive young woman, probably a civilian given her lack of uniform at this time of day, although he couldn't rely on that as he was not in uniform at the moment either. He took another sip of his beverage and looked at her again, he then recognized her from the file he had gotten, she was the station's seamstress, but he'd let her tell him that.
"So what brings you here so early in the day?"
He then took another look around the pub, it was nice and quiet for now, in a few hours it would be full of off duty men and women and it would be a lot less quiet as well.

"Nope."
Nope. One worded answer; how typical. Krysta thought with a very mild smirk. She did after all grow up with three brothers, one of which was an officer on Delta One. Without bothering to ask Krysta sat in an empty seat next to...to...well to whatever his name was.
"Was just hoping to catch a few words with Mister Jaco."
"Ah." Krysta gave a nod of her head then tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "So was I. I suppose though that the majority of people that come in hope for the same thing, more so the Starfleet officers." At least according to my bother and my own observations...
"So what brings you here so early in the day?"
Krysta lightly shrugged then took another sip of her drink before answering the question. "Well, with the sudden lock up, among other duties, and things people have to do the day is slower than usual. So I decided to close up early and just sit back while people do their jobs." Which was very simple, and depending, could also be very dull.
Oh. Krysta extended her right hand. "My names Krysta O' Conner, and your name is?"
Good thing they weren't on the USS Orion. If they were Krysta would guess that he would not be thrilled to meet another O' Conner. After all, the trouble maker on that Intrepid class ship was her cousin.

"Well, with the sudden lock up, among other duties, and things people have to do the day is slower than usual. So I decided to close up early and just sit back while people do their jobs."
She referred to it as a lock up, proving she was not in star fleet, as a member of star fleet would call it a lock down.
"My names Krysta O' Conner, and your name is?"
He took her hand, grasped it briefly and said.
"Call me Jethro."
Then it hit him, the last name. He remembered a young troublemaker on the Orion with that last name, from when he was assigned to work in Ops on the ship before being transferred to the station.
"Did you say O'Conner? I don't suppose you have a relative running around here anywhere causing trouble do you?"
He remembered hearing stories about Shawn O'Conner but had never had the misfortune of meeting the boy, although he knew that Orion security was very familiar with him.
Jethro leaned back slightly and finished his drink, setting the empty glass on the bar and waving for another, with the station on lock down he really didn't have anything else to do until he got reports from Sam and Leo from Engineering, and his other agent was here in the bar waiting to make contact as well. He had the feeling that despite all the activity that today was going to be a slow day.

"Call me Jethro."
"Will do." Krysta said with a smile. Short simple answers. She liked those kind the best. Krysta was going to continue the conversation in a totally different direction, but didn't exactly have the chance to as Jethro spoke up before she did.
"Did you say O'Conner? I don't suppose you have a relative running around here anywhere causing trouble do you?"
It was bound to happen sooner or later! "Here on Delta One I have my brother Thomas, but I'm going to take a guess that you are talking about a child, yes?" Krysta ran her fingers through her hair, with a genuine smile. "If so, that would be my cousin, Shawn. I've heard that he has been up to his colorful ways."

"Will do."
At least the introductions had gone well
"Here on Delta One I have my brother Thomas, but I'm going to take a guess that you are talking about a child, yes?"
"Yes."
"If so, that would be my cousin, Shawn. I've heard that he has been up to his colorful ways."
Colorful ways, he held back his laugh.
"I suppose that is one way to describe him. I had a run in with him while I was serving in Ops on the Orion. He seemed to have a knack for getting under the skin of certain security officers."
He leaned back as best he could and surveyed the room again, not much had changed, there were a few new faces but none he recognized right away. he finished his drink, signaled for another and looked back at Krysta.
"You said you closed up shop, which shop is yours again?"
He was genuinely curious now, as he had no one else to talk to and he thought it might be nice to have another friend that didn't wear a uniform, such as Cadfeal.

"I suppose that is one way to describe him. I had a run in with him while I was serving in Ops on the Orion. He seemed to have a knack for getting under the skin of certain security officers."
Krysta let out a laugh. That was just too funny, but also true. Krysta let her laughter die down just a little before she replied. "Shawn has a knack for getting under everybody's skin. It's just one of his many specialties."
If she were to tell Jethro here a few of the stories... well, it was likely he would believe her.
"You said you closed up shop, which shop is yours again?"
A change of pace...
"I wanted to go with the name; 'Eye of the needle', but due to lack of having a creative partner the shop is called 'Fabric and Fitting'." Krysta slightly rolled her green eyes after she finished her sentence. She simply thought that was a very stupid name for a shop. No pizazz. "The shop is co-owned."
Krysta looked around briefly. "Any answers yet?" Krysta inquired in a slight whisper. Yes, she had noticed certain movements Jethro had made.

He was still scanning the area for any changes in his surroundings, things seemed to be progressing normally and he saw one of his agents enter, speak to another, glance in his direction, shake their heads and exit the tavern. he was now aware that there was nothing to report for the moment.
"I wanted to go with the name; 'Eye of the needle', but due to lack of having a creative partner the shop is called 'Fabric and Fitting'."
"Seems like a relatively creative name in it's own right."
"The shop is co-owned."
That explains her comment about having a partner with no creativity.
"I take it you and your co-owner don't always see eye to eye."
He wasn't sure why he was taking such an interest in this girl, or woman, well girl given that she was obviously much younger than himself, by about thirty years was his guess. He was reading a mix of emotions on her face and in her eyes as they spoke. He wondered what kind of stress she could be dealing with as a civilian on a station, though seeing as the station was in the Delta Quadrant that answered most of his questions anyway.
"Any answers yet?"
She seemed to have been studying him as well.
"Answers? Which question are you referring to?"
He wondered if she had noticed his glancing around the room and took it for what it was, which would actually give him a reason to speak to her more. He was being subtle, as he had been trained to be, and for an untrained civilian to pick up on that well, lets just say he was thinking she had potential as on operative should he ever need to tap into some unofficial resources.

"I take it you and your co-owner don't always see eye to eye."
"That is one way to put it." Krysta replied with a tiny grin. That tiny grin could be read many different way. Mostly it was there could actually be a list put together on what she and the co-owner didn't agree on. Also that they got under eachothers skin easily.
"Answers? Which question are you referring to?"
After moving her hair out of the way again, Krysta replied; "I believe you're the one that has the questions. If you didn't you wouldn't be looking or waiting for answers." Krysta bit her bottom lip briefly as she looked away then back to Jethro. Krysta then leaned close to Jethro to whisper a question: "Are you with the 'rat squad' by any chance?"

"That is one way to put it."
There was always more than one way to describe any given situation, but he refrained from telling her that.
"I believe you're the one that has the questions. If you didn't you wouldn't be looking or waiting for answers."
He couldn't help himself, he smiled at her. "
You are very keen, there are certain questions I have that have not been answered yet, but then others have been answered."
The problem with answers is that sometimes we don't like them and so we continue to ask the same question, but he only said that to himself. She looked away then back again and he could tell by the way she was bitting her lip that she was about to ask the question no one ever liked hearing the answer to.
"Are you with the 'rat squad' by any chance?"
He almost choked on his drink, he hadn't heard the term Rat Squad before and could only guess at it's meaning.
"That depends on who you view as the 'Rat Squad'. Some would say that name is for Internal Affairs within the Security structure and I am not a member of that department in any capacity."
I am however the Intelligence officer on station, but if you don't know that I'm not going to tell you. Not yet anyway. He knew she was a highly intelligent individual and was almost certain that his answer would lead her to the logical conclusion that he was actually who he was without him having to say it in so many words, but on the other hand there could be other variations of rat squads that he hadn't thought of yet and it could keep her guessing. Either way he didn't really want the entire station to know who he was if they didn't need to. he had enough trouble with the first officer wanting him in uniform for meetings, which totally give away his position. Life on a station, never simple and always entertaining...

"Ah." Krysta slight nodded her head. His indirect answer, answered that question. He was of the tattle tell branch. They could snitch on even the stations commander. Go behind peoples backs. "I see." I wonder what kind of dirt he has on everyone...
"Word has it you were ordered to make friends with everyone on the station." Krysta then shrugged. "But you can't believe everything ya hear." However if he had a reaction of surprise or shock or horror then she'd know for a fact that it was truth or more truth to it than she had expected.
