While waiting for Commander Ashbury or Cadfael to speak, Jacklyn couldn't help looking around the room. It appeared somewhat old fashioned; not that she was an expert on old Earth eras or decor. She could however tell you about Andorian history and decor.
The woman her father re-married (when he felt it time) was an Andorian female. Also, being raised some on their planet and going to school...well. What else could one expect? Although everyone was sort of surprised when Jacklyn had accepted the marriage proposal of a Betazoid male, who was an Ex-drone. It had been unexpected, to say the least. Although, not a soul on Delta One knows about her engagement.

"No, please, it's no trouble,"
That was not the kind of response Jacklyn had been expecting. No. The young woman expected some harsh words, or perhaps annoyed. Even for Commander Ashbury to groan, stand, and leave to go change. Needless to say that he had taken her quite by surprise!
As Commander Ashbury began to attempt to dry her off with a towel, Jacklyn's facial expression was one that showed utmost confusion. She was quite perplexed by his sweet natured, and understanding take to all of this. Although him drying her off made her feel uncomfortable, and it did show through. "Um, thank you commander." Jacklyn looked to the floor.
"I'm really very sorry." She apologized sincerely, although the entire thing was not all her fault.
"So, let's replace that drink, shall we?" "Cadfael!" "A new drink for Jacklyn here on my tab."
Jacklyn looked at whom she suspected to be Cadfael then back to Commander Ashbury. On his tab? She had heard through the womans' communication network aka girl talk; one of the fastest means of communication, that Commander Ashbury came here often, but she hadn't guessed it was that often. "Please, no. I don't want to be a bother," Jacklyn looked at hers and Ashbury's uniforms again.
"although…" it appeared to her that she had already had been, even if no fuss had been made.
"Well, alright." Jacklyn placed the book of flute solos on the bar table. "At least this didn't suffer any damage." Jacklyn said on the quiet side, mostly to herself. Her roommate would have made a huge deal if the book had gotten wet. Try and make some conversation. Don't sit there like a bump on a log!
"So," Jacklyn racked her brain. "if you don't mind my asking sir, what do you like to do for recreation?" At the moment that was the best thing Jacklyn could come up with.

"Jacklyn!"
Jacklyn's head jerked in the direction from where she heard her voice being called. It was a familiar voice. One that she remembered from a briefing. It was Commander Ashbury. Jacklyn smiled a slightly shy smile in his direction. Senior staff always made her nervous.
"Come in! There's some free space over there."
Jacklyn moved through the crowd slowly to his direction. "Commander." Jacklyn acknowledged respectfully. Just as the young engineer was about to sit down someone bumped her from behind causing her to spill her drink not only on herself but also on Commander Ashbury. Jacklyn's eyes went as wide as saucers. "Oh! I'm...I'm so sorry...oh no." Jacklyn's face swiftly turned a shade of red. "I didn't mean..."

The chaos was over! Nothing could have made Jacklyn feel more relaxed. She had been extremely nervous through the whole ordeal, and had internally began starting to doubt her abilities. It was likely the fact that she hadn't felt ready to be in command at the time. Due to her rank she actually was not a senior officer, but having to fill in as one was quite terrifying.
Thank God the chief was not sick anymore. Or at least not as sick. Jacklyn had decided to talk with her roommate about everything, as well as take a little stroll, with a book of flute solos in hand. She and her roommate were trying to agree on a piece. While on her stroll she was about to pass the Portal Inn, again. Jacklyn had yet to go inside that place.
She had heard good things about its food, drink, and keeper. After a few moments of thought she decided to go inside. The atmosphere was better than she had expected. It was definitely crowded. She did feel a tad awkward bring a book inside, but what was done was done.
She got a drink of cream soda, and looked for an open place to sit.

Jacklyn was still in a bit of a panicking mode about the call that was received after the briefing when talking to her commanding officer. Of course Jacklyn did her very best to hide her nervousness. She was still in charge while the chief was sick. She also figured that going to engineering would be better a place to work on the pier problem.
"Does anyone know why there is a sudden lock down?" The young officer questioned those in engineering. Someone had to be paying heed to the systems while she was gone. No one could be stupid enough not to...right? Jacklyn walked over to one of the stations, and began gently, gracefully, yet very swiftly tapping away.
Meanwhile... "Crewman Shota, please get the comm system functioning." That at least should help in finding the problem...maybe. Wasn't communication key to just about everything?

"If calling me 'sir' makes you uncomfortable, Jacklyn," "You may call me Arthur, if you like. Don't let Starfleet Command hear it, though."
At least he had been kind, but that still didn't answer her question, and, if Jacklyn hadn't been pre-engaged for two years to another Starfleet engineer working at Starfleet Engineering Corps back on Earth, Arthurs' smile might have possibly melted her heart. Jacklyn was or is a faithful young woman, and she planned to stay that way.
And just as Commander Ashbury was about to say something like; there was not going to be any trouble, low and behold, a call came through announcing there was; completely doing the exact opposite of putting Jacklyn's fears to rest, and nerves at ease. The young engineers blue eyes just widened in shock and terror, at what had unfolded.
This is bad! Jacklyn thought with worry and concern. Commander Ashbury then took her hands.
"I believe we've got need of your skills, if this hasn't been the result of Magnus's eye malfunctioning and him misreading a report."
"Yes sir." Jacklyn replied with a nod.
Before Jacklyn took off she said: "The knot in my stomach tells me this is not the result of an eye malfunction or a misread report, sir."
End Jacklyn if there is nothing else to be added.

Well, it was over. Jacklyn was the last one to leave the briefing room. Hopefully she would not have to go through that experience again. It had been kind of scary. Jacklyn much preferred to work under people, and she personally didn't think she was the right person to take over for the chief while he was sick. Orders were order though.
When T'Sar left she suspected that he was going to check on the comm system. Either way it didn't matter; Jacklyn had to brief their chief on what had been said in the briefing so he would not be out of the loop upon his return to duty. Then she heard the word 'trouble'. Her blue eyes looked to her commanding officer. "Sir," Jacklyn said timidly. "um, are you expecting us to get trouble, sir?"
Her obvious nervousness just talking to Commander Ashbury had showed through when she said sir twice. Not to mention her soft voice, and fidgety right hand that was behind her back.

Well, I'm better. Praise God! Prayer is powerful. Attended the Ladies Ministry Meeting at church yesterday evening. It was a blast! So much fun! And I'm also quite looking forward to my sign language class on September the 20th.

I always thought the Federation council worked with whoever to see if entry requirements are met. Jacklyn thought to herself as she started to fidget with her fingers after lacing her hands in her lap. Things just seemed a little weird; then again, Jacklyn was no expert on new members being accepted into the Federation. She was just an engineer.
Jacklyn was just a bit surprised or startled when Commander Ashbury had used her first name. Had she done something wrong? She had heard that the commander was a tad lax with protocol. But... well, she hadn't been expecting. Though she was relieved when he told her that she unknowingly hit the nail on the head. That made her smile some. Not her best; kinda on the small week side, but still a smile.
Then T'Sar said he didn't trust them. Personally Jacklyn found that a little bit odd. Then again, that was just her. She has been known at times to trust a bit too easily.

After a look from T'Sar, Jacklyn's blue eyes darted down and away. She hadn't realized she had been staring at him until he gave her that look, which truth be told scared her just a little bit. She also felt a bit guilty about the comm. She was an engineer after all, filling in for the chief. Thank God Commander Ashbury and Lieutenant Commander Milos walked in when they did.
That was when Jacklyn sat back down in the chair fully. She listened carefully as Commander Ashbury spoke, as not to miss anything important. So the Federation was getting new members? What did that have to do with them though? Jacklyn also listened to Lieutenant Commander Milos. That was an interesting point. One Jacklyn didn't even think of.
"Why does the Federation feel iffy about it, sir? This station was built in the Delta Quadrant via bringing parts through the wormhole." Jacklyn inquired and stated rather softly.

Jacklyn counted the chairs around the table. Hmm. With some people missing did that mean they all just moved up a chair to fill in the gaps? Uncertain of the situation Jacklyn decided to just sit a few chairs away, and if she was told to move up, well, she'd do that. She started to sit down, but realized that T'Sar was still standing as Commander Ashbury hadn't taken his seat yet.
How could you be so stupid?! Jacklyn reprimanded herself as she stood fully, pushed the seat in and stood behind it; a hand placed a top the head rest. Jacklyn lightly bit her lower lip and looked up at T'Sar. She unknowing started to stare at him. Jacklyn had only seen a member of his species just once before now.

Yes. Okay. Good. It would be one odd thing if suddenly they were all just dismissed because no one else showed up. Jacklyn did start to worry a bit more when she saw the look of irritation on her commanding officers face. She had seen that look many a times. Not on Commander Ashbury, but on that of a few Andorians, and occasionally on the face of a few Starfleet professors.
Just don't do or say anything stupid Jacklyn. Don't do anything that will irritate him further. Jacklyn started to fiddle with the PADD she had brought along. Moving it between her hands. Lightly, nervously tapping it on the side of her leg.
"Come on, get up to the Observation Lounge, you two,"
"Yes sir." Jacklyn immediately spat out. She did exactly as she had been told. She stepped up the stairs. Didn't have to tell her twice.

It rained on The Dream Cruise parade. Didn't get to go. Blast! All those classic cars. On another note, on Monday I'm suppose to go up and take the written test for driving! I'm excited and afraid. Hopefully I can find everything I need. If I can't I'll be angry, 'cause I am not a morning person, and the AM is when a friend of mine is suppose to take me up there. On Friday, when we had the spaghetti dinner at church, pastor said he had two surprises for us. One in the AM service. The other in the PM service.
