The doors swished as T'Lordia entered the small quarters. There wasn't much in here- couch, beds, half bathroom. Okay, so it was a little prettier to look at than her crew room she'd had as an ensign, but quarters were still quarters no matter what kind they were. Most people were too tired after their shifts anyway to notice the way their rooms looked. But because she was half vulcan, T'Lordia required less sleep than most humans, so she had the energy to notice these things. She remembered as an ensign on her old assignment how her roomate and herself had been so excited to be onboard because there was no "lights out" rule like there''d been in the academy and they'd be able to stay up and talk and chat as long as they wanted to after their shifts. But T'Lordia's roomate would usually come in so exhausted that that was quick forgotten.
That was why she'd never really fit in with her mothers relatives on earth- she acted human, but there were traits shed been born with that never allowed her to be truly human. It was like putting a doberman pinscher in with a group of yorkshire terriers- both were dog breeds, but they just couldn't fit in with one another. T'Lordia had just been waiting for her tea to cool when she heard the doors swish. "In here, Yolari!", she called, figuring it to be her roommate.

Suroc looked around the room, noticed that her room was even more Spartan than his was. It was logical after all, dispite her being half human her Vulcan side probably decorated the room. He took a couple more steps into the room so as he would not be standing in the door frame and the doors shut. It had appeared that she was expecting someone else. Perhaps he should leave if was intruding. Then he heard the her say the others name.
"In here, Yolari!"
"That is incorrect. I am Commander Suroc, not this being whom you called Yolari. It seems that you were expecting this person, and that I am intruding. It would be illogical for me to stay. I shall leave." He began to turn around to go.
He took one slow step the toward door. He wanted to stay and talk with her because there were so few Vulcans on the Orion, he missed is own kind, or that is to say being with his own kind from time to time was good for his psyche. There were about six Vulcans on board, himself, S'Louk, one other female and then a few more officers. Two Vulcan women on board and one of them was not even full Vulcan. And he chose that one. One Lieutenant junior grade T'Lordia.

T'Lordia had come into the room to greet her roomate and jumped slightly at the sight. It was not Yolari but rather another vulcan, a male. His uniform told her he was a commander but T'Lordia surprisingly did not know his name. "I apologize, Commander. I'm not used to having men in my quarters..and not used to seeing other vulcans. Did you need something?"
"Wait, Commander Suroc! You can stay if you like. I understand there aren't too many other vulcans on board and you probably only like to talk to them. I mean, I'm a half-breed raised on earth, so its not a big deal for me, but I know where your coming from."

"I apologize, Commander. I'm not used to having men in my quarters..and not used to seeing other vulcans. Did you need something?"
"If you are not use to the sight of men in your quarters nor Vulcans then I could understand why you jumped in fright. It was not my intent to startle you. Do I need something? Being one of the few Vulcans aboard this vessel it was only logical that I seek you out. We Vulcans have to stick together. That is a human phrase that I used and added Vulcans to it instead. Was it humorous?" He asked attempting another bid at comedy.
"Wait, Commander Suroc! You can stay if you like. I understand there aren't too many other vulcans on board and you probably only like to talk to them. I mean, I'm a half-breed raised on earth, so its not a big deal for me, but I know where your coming from."
"I am the ships Counselor, I have no problems in communicating with other life forms, or even talking with them. So do not think that I am Xenophobic, but in my leisure time I do prefer to digress with more logical beings. As for you being a half breed that is inconsequential. It simply means that you will be prone to not always being so reasonable and logic." Suroc stated in that emotionless Vulcan manner that Vulcans were famous for. He was however very polite and made I contact with her the entire time.

T'Lordia couldn't help but let out a giggle. It was just that Suroc was so stoic that she found his humor attempt amusing. "Apologies, commander. Its..interesting to hear you use humor."
"I'm T'Lordia- an operations officer. And I'm glad for that, counselor. My mother used to tell me vulcans only like to communicate with other vulcans, but I suppose you are an exception."
Come to think of it, the vulcan hadn't seen her mother since..since she was about fifteen or so. But even before that, she could never forget the way she spoke of vulcans in front of her, saying things like "Narrow-minded, controlling bleeps." Being she hadn't been on the planet since she was small, T'Lordia had no place forming an opinion of them. This vulcan in particular was very nice and kind and she would judge him by what her mother had said.
He was looking directly into T'Lordia's eyes, making her blush slightly. For an older man, he was still quite good looking. And even with her height of five foot eight, the vulcan still towered over her.
"Ah..did you want some tea? I was just making some before you came in here.."

"Ah..did you want some tea? I was just making some before you came in here.."
"Tea would be nice. Though I will take mine with out any sugar. Its natural taste is strong enough. As for Vulcans preferring to talk to others of their kind that is true. Most do. I however giving my profession find that talking to others can be an asset. Not to mention when I talk to others I seem to make a genuine difference. In my eyes that is the most logical thing I can do." Suroc said still looking her in the eyes and took notice of her blush.
