Robinsonade
Ryanna was on the bridge sitting at the science station. She was getting reports from, well everything, every place. Ry was rarely on the bridge; generally she tended to stay in Astrometrics, however, Ensign Digby was down there now with their Vulcan crewman. So it seemed the shifts had changed. Perhaps the effect of her taking on someone elses shift last time. Ah well. Like everyone else she too saw the M Class planet. It was very interesting. Alright, well it was far more than interesting.

Mishtak was sitting in the captain's chair as he was currently on duty as acting CO as opposed to tactical like he was normally. He took a look around and did not recognize many of the young officers who were filling in for the normal bridge crew this shift, he wasn't even sure if he had ever met the young ensign standing at tactical and he be darned if he could remember the guys name. He hated when that happened, he did a quick roster search on the captains terminal and checked everyone's name and location or station on the bridge, he wanted to be ready for anything.
Seeing as there was not much to do, and as he was never really one for games, he decided to finish reading the security reports as well as intelligence reports from starfleet, based on what they thought might be out here, as well as the operations, engineering and science reports. He was now well versed in the current state of affairs regarding the entire ship and her crew, it was going to be a long shift...

//"Digby to Bridge," she said over the comm. "We've found the veins and some intriguing ruins."//
When that call came over the comm line Ryanna pert near jumped in her seat. It was totally exciting news! She began scanning even more in depth than before. Eyes darting every witch way. Fingers tapping the console buttons, a little harder than actually required. Oh the excitement of it all!
"Confirmed sir." Ry spoke up to Lieutenant Mishtak who was currently on duty.
"Doesn't it sound exciting?" hile Ry asked she sent a message down to Astrometrics to Digby's station. The message read: Nice find! Great job!

Larkin walked onto the bridge humming to himself wit some pep in his step. He walked over to helm and relieved the ensign that was on duty. He checked to see speeds that they were traveling at, vector of approach and all the other lovely things that made him the brilliant pilot that he is. Larkin poured over the information still humming.
(OOC: As a side note, I have a question, would not Larkin or Suroc have Command of the Bridge while both Captain and Second officer are off the ship? I thought that it went by chain of Command? I would also like to point out that I have no problem what so ever with Mishtak I was just curious. I thought that is how Starfleet worked, by chain of Command, not complaining just wanting to have my fact straight and my ducks in a row. Because If I am mis informed I don't wish to remain ignorant of such things any longer, thanks ^_^)

Mishtak shifted in his seat as the comm from Rose came in, then Larkin arrived and took his station, perhaps there would be something of interest to do on this shift after all,he checked to see their current heading and decide if it needed to be altered, it appeared all they needed was the orbital rate of speed in order to properly investigate Rose's discovery.
"Mr. Reinhardt, Please proceed to bring us into orbit around the planet they are researching, I would like a one quarter impulse polar orbit."
Ms. Denali, exciting is perhaps what you would call it,but I beleive this is the exact point of our mission here and therefore nothing more than routine."
He kept his tone soft, calm and steady with both officers. It was not as if he found this to be dull, in fact he thought it could be quite exciting, but he was in command for the time being and therefore needed to remain objective, once he was off duty he would then allow himself to be excited over the vast possibilities they had yet to explore in this region...

Jethro stepped onto the bridge as Mishtak was giving orders, apparently he was right on time. He took over the Ops station from the young ensign that had been there and began going over what had been taking place, interesting enough they seemed to be heading to the second planet they would be investigating on this journey and it seemed that Lt. Mishtak was containing any and all excitement he may have been feeling as well as a Vulcan contains, well, pretty much every emotion they have, if they even have any. Jethro had heard rumors that Vulcan youths were often very emotional and high spirited but he had never witnessed it and therefor could not be certain of it's truth.

Chan arrived on the bridge to relieve crewman Carmine at tactical at the same time as Jethro, from the other turbolift, and watched as he took his place at ops while she made her way to tactical and took her place. She reviewed the logs and saw they were going to check out a nearby class M planet and wondered if the Rathren they had met had supplied the coordinates to them. She went about her routine long and short range scans, detecting nothing out of the ordinary, as such there was nothing to report so she simply remained at post watching the images on her console continue to tell her nothing of any interest was out there at the moment. Seemed like a regular old day in her book, at least she didn't have anything better to do.

"Mr. Reinhardt, Please proceed to bring us into orbit around the planet they are researching, I would like a one quarter impulse polar orbit."
"Aye making it so" With that Larkin brought the ship into orbit around the planet, or at least moving toward it at one quarter impulse effortlessly. It was incredibly difficult to contain his happiness given recent events. He swiveled around in his chair to face Mishtak.
"You know Sir, I was thinking that you and I should trade war stories sometime, and I was curious to know what you think about Commander Suroc, I herd he collects bladed weapons and has them in his office and his quarters. If that is the case maybe you two should spar." Larkin said striking up conversation while the ship slowly made its way to the planet.

"Aye making it so"
Mishtak found himself missing his station at tactical, he was trained for command but preferred not to be in the big chair when things of importance were about to happen, it always made him feel slightly self conscience...
"You know Sir,
He almost cut Larkin off to remind him that he was the higher ranking officer when he again remembered he was in the big chair and therefor, at the moment anyway, the senior officer on the bridge.
I was thinking that you and I should trade war stories sometime,
War stories, Mishtak had many, and having read Larkin's file knew he probably had his fair share as well...
"One of these days we shall do just that, over a bottle or five of blood wine..."
and I was curious to know what you think about Commander Suroc, I herd he collects bladed weapons and has them in his office and his quarters. If that is the case maybe you two should spar."
and there it was, he was wondering when someone was going to ask him about the ship's councilor with a weapons collection that rivaled his own...
"...I have not yet had the opportunity to meet with Councilor Suroc, though I am familiar with his collection of weapons..."
He neglected to mention that he had had to personally sign off on each item upon it's arrival.
"As for sparring, I am always up for a challenge, but very few members of this crew can compete at my level. Star fleet does not train it's officers the same as the Empire does, although I have been considering running a morning training class for anyone who may be interested in learning Klingon combat forms."
He had been thinking of it, but had yet to mention it to the captain as no one had expressed any interest as of yet...

"One of these days we shall do just that, over a bottle or five of blood wine..."
"Hell a bottle or five? Why not a couple of barrels, ha ha. I have heard that Klingons can certainly hold their booze. I my self have been known to have a drink or two back on earth. Fun times, older times, younger days." Larkin said with a reminiscent smile.

"If he were to accept a challenge like this, Vulcan are three times stronger than a human, and faster, and more agile. Klingons are stronger than human, but not my much, how would you handle his superman strength?" Larkin asked honestly wanted to know. He would not want to personally fight with Suroc but that did not mean he would not mind seeing a good match between the Commander and Mishtak.

"Perhaps a barrel or two would be more our speed."
"If he were to accept a challenge like this, Vulcan are three times stronger than a human, and faster, and more agile. Klingons are stronger than humans, but not by much, how would you handle his superman strength?"
It was true that Vulcans were three times stronger than humans, and quite a bit more agile and slightly faster, but they had never been considered a threat due to their complete focus on logic, where as Klingons embraced emotions and used it as a fuel in their combat prowess. Although, and Mishtak had once tried to discover the science and biology behind this, it was never documented exactly how much stronger or faster and more agile Klingons really were in comparison to Humans, and as far as any recorded data can confer, Vulcans share many traits with Romulans who have been at war with the Klingons on and off again for generations and in hand to hand, unarmed combat Romulans and Klingons were evenly matched thus leading to the conclusion that Vulcans and Klingons would likewise be evenly matched... In the end there was really only one way to test that theory...
"I do believe I would be forced to treat him as any other opponent and react accordingly. The difficulty will be finding someone equally versed in weaponry as he and I appear to be in order to properly officiate the match. One would need an extensive knowledge of the weapons we would intend to use as well as the forms with which we are wielding them. Perhaps one of these days he and I shall cross paths and discuss an exhibition match of sorts, something to ease the crew's tension about being so far from home."
and there we have it, an exhibition match between the chief of security and the ships councilor in order to boost crew morale, for some reason Mishtak didn't think it would have the impact that was needed to ease his fellow shipmates in their situation...

Larkin looked at Mishtak. He nodded his head slowly as if agreeing with him.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. You have to be able to know what your talking about, or at least make sure the referee knows what their talking about, unless it is going to be a skirmish match of honor, then again you would also have to decide if it's going to be a point match, or if it going to be till first blood, or a mercy match. First one to ask for mercy, or otherwise surrender is the defeated party. Many things to consider. How ever I speak for myself and I sure several others when I say I would love to see such a match. Hell he has enough weapons." Larkin concluded chuckling to himself.

"I'm fairly certain it would only be a point match, as starfleet regulations would not permit two of it's senior officers to engage in combat requiring one to draw another's blood to win."

"Between myself and our councilor I think we could arm every member of starfleet, several times over."
Mishtak was more concerned with finding a knowledgeable referee than how many weapons the two had on board the ship, besides they would probably use holodeck created weapons without blades for safety reasons. One does not enter into combat of any kind without knowing exactly what they are capable of or the equipment they will be using. Mishtak's personal arsenal of blade weapons were not for use in sparring matches or expedition tourneys of any kind, they were, pure and simple, for use in the killing of others during war. The last time one of his display pieces had been held for anything other than moving, was back on a Klingon vessel that had been infested with Borg. One thing he could be sure of was that no amount of adaptation on the part of the Borg could make them invulnerable to a nice sharp blade...
"Perhaps when this shift is over I will make a point of dropping by his office and speaking to Suroc about it."

"I'm fairly certain it would only be a point match, as starfleet regulations would not permit two of it's senior officers to engage in combat requiring one to draw another's blood to win."
"Oh yeah, I see how that could be a problem and all. You know, its said that one man can learn alot about another simply by gauging them in combat. Do you think that is true Mistak? As for a ref you may have to program one in."
"Between myself and our councilor I think we could arm every member of starfleet, several times over."
"You know, somehow I don't doubt that. I think you two would get along really well. I was able to access a little of his file, seeing as he outranks me and all. but what I as able to glean was illuminating. Did you know that he spent over three decades training to become the Chief of Security at Starfleet HQ? He then one day changed things up and spent the next four decades taking counseling classes and learning what he needed to be to become a ships counselor. It just weird that he would make such a radical career change."
"Perhaps when this shift is over I will make a point of dropping by his office and speaking to Suroc about it."
"Yeah, that would be a good thing to do, after all who would not want to see or at least hear about the the fiercest warrior on the Orion meeting the most level headed one?" Pretends to wipe a tear from his eye. "I love this crew, I do, I love you all." Larkin then chuckles to signify that his tears were in in good jest.
