Krax arrived and relieved Jethro at the Ops station, and as they switched seats Jethro looked around the bridge at all the movements being made and something in his gut told him to be careful. As an intel officer his gut had been one of his best kept secrets as well as his most reliable asset, he had a feeling something bad was going to happen but had no idea what it was and to be honest thought it also could have been a minor case of indigestion...
"See you later Lt. Krax, have a good shift."
He then exited the bridge by way of the second turbo lift, opposite from the one the away team was assembling in.
END - Jethro: move to... off duty...

The captain had called for an away team and Janet had been put on it as Lt.Mishtak was given command of the bridge, now she knew why he hadn't let her leave the bridge or leave it himself either. She hung back at tactical while the captain and first officer left in the turbo lift and quietly said to her department head
"There's something funny about how those two are acting today."
She whispered it to avoid raising the suspicions of the bridge crew, it was such a confined space and secrets were hard to keep on a starship to begin with.
She made her way to the turbolift and left, first stop armory and second stop shuttlebay...
END - Chan: Move to shuttlebay

Larkin's joke brought a smile to Mishtak's face, though he did he best to hide it...
He was back in command of the ship, a job he liked for the comfortable chair but would prefer not to have full time. He sat in the chair as the captain and Christian left the bridge. Chan came around and whispered to him:
"There's something funny about how those two are acting today."
Which he had already noticed as well, so in reply he whispered back:
"Keep an eye on them, on everyone down there in fact. There's a lot young young ensigns and cadets going with you and as much as I have learned to trust OUR cadet, I am still uncomfortable with both captain and first officer being on the same away mission. Head to the armory..." He typed something into the console on the arm of the chair "...They know your coming, take a standard duty belt and two mini phasers for extra safety. Should anything go awry or you feel either he captain or the commander are in any way compromised, contact me on the secure frequency immediately."
He was not normally one for long or drawn out orders, but the two senior officers had been acting a little strange since arriving on the bridge, there was a rumor being circulated that they had been together on the holodeck for some time, but he hated gossip and rumors and that only left investigation, Chan would keep an eye on everyone while on the away mission, and Cadet S'Louk would assist her. He tapped his Combadge
"Mishtak to Cadet S'Louk, report to the armory before you go to the shuttlebay."
Now both his security officers would be similarly armed, just in case something bad were to happen, or the command staff was getting infected by some sort of mind control alien...
He was still going over the possible reasons for the two to be acting strangely when he heard the turbolift open behind him, he paid it no attention until his thoughts were interrupted...
"Cadet Syell Chrym, reporting as requested, sir.
'Reporting as requested, I didn't request any cadets to...' He thought to himself but trailed of mentally as he recalled the captain had requested him, what was he going to do with a third year command cadet on the bridge? there was no place for him here...
Do you wish me to fulfill any Command functions while the Captain and Commander Hughes are away?"
Then again maybe there was...
"Cadet Syell Chrym, command training course I believe. Yes, I think there is a spot for you here..." As he said 'here' he motioned to the first officer's seat. "...You are learning how to command and be in charge of a ship, I can think of no better training than to actually do it."
He stood up and addressed the entire bridge crew, and made sure the computer also retained a log of what was about to happen.
"As acting captain of the Orion for the time being, I hearby appoint Cadet Syell Chrym to the position of first officer during the duration of my command."
Turning off the computer log and looking back to the cadet and speaking so the rest of the bridge staff could hear him.
"Remember, this is only for the duration of this away mission, and do not let this go to your head, it is temporary and I will remove you from this training if you give me any reason to do so."
He practically growled at the poor cadet, Mishtak wanted to make sure he understood he had no real authority off the bridge and was only given this position to assist him in his courses. Mishtak also hoped the cadet realized that this did not mean he liked the boy or felt he was capable of handling the position, it was simply a test of character. That and Mishtak needed something to do while watching the planet spin by out the view port.
He then turned to look at Larkin...
"Helm, I understand we are in a synchronized orbit, I would like to move us into a pole to pole rotating orbit for the next two hours, then return to a geosynchronous orbit above the tracking beacon of the Alpha-Flyer. This will give our sensors a chance to collect every detail possible and upon completion put us into position to beam up the away team and shuttle should they need such a rescue."
His orders seemed sound to him and he wondered if the captain had failed to order such precautions because she was new to command or if there really was something else effecting her...
He looked at his new acting first officer, nodded and sat in the captain's chair.

"Aye sir, moving to comply." Larkin moved the ship to the orders instructed. He then swiveled his chair around to face Mishtak.
"Sir, may I have a word with you in the ready room?" Larkin asked of Mishtak, keeping his voice level as to not arouse the rest of the bridge crew. He looked and waited for Mishtak to answer.

"Aye sir, moving to comply."
The ship would change course and do exactly what it was supposed to with no one ever feeling even the slightest change, it truly was an amazing thing...
"Sir, may I have a word with you in the ready room?"
"Of course."
Mishtak stood and headed to the ready room door, throwing a quick glance at the cadet in the first officer's chair.
"You have the bridge Number One."
Mishtak laughed lightly to himself as he entered the ready room...

Apparently, there had been a miscommunication between Mishtak and the Captain, Syell noted, surprised as he was that Mishtak seemed to have no use for him. He did not seem too happy assigning Syell to the Executive Station, but Syell said nothing about it as he took the seat. He made a few reminders of the temporary status, as he did not trust Syell. That's probably as well.
A few orbit precautions were taken, routine orders given whenever an Away Team used a shuttle to go down according to good Starfleet practice. Then Mishtak had a talk with Commander Reinhardt and gave the Bridge to 'number one'.
"Understood, sir," he said, moving chairs. It was not very special: he had memories of past hosts sitting in the Captain's chair, but it was his first time, and it felt special to him. He didn't get any illusions, however: it was temporary.
"Alright," he said. "How's that orbit coming along, helm?"

Larkin came out of the ready room and made his way back the the Helm station. He gestured for whomever was in his seat to vacate and then took a gander at what information was currently displayed at his console. He smiled, good everything looked just like he left it. Just to be safe Larkin checked and double checked everything to make sure.
"MIshtak Sir, you've read my file. YOu do know my flight specialization right? Combat manuvers and aerial dynamic alterations, aerial stunts in planer terms. Its why I am such a great pilot! I meant to say its why I'm the best, wait no that did not come off right either, I meant to say that is why I am a pilot like anyother...." He let his statement trail off as he said his last bit sarcasticly. He tried to be humble at times though he more often than not could not pull it off.

Mishtak followed Larkin back out onto the bridge and took his post as acting captain but instead of sitting in the chair he remained standing and glanced at the tactical station being manned by a random crewman who's name he could not remember. 'Where is Xena?' he thought to himself...
"MIshtak Sir, you've read my file. YOu do know my flight specialization right? Combat manuvers and aerial dynamic alterations, aerial stunts in planer terms. Its why I am such a great pilot! I meant to say its why I'm the best, wait no that did not come off right either, I meant to say that is why I am a pilot like any other...."
It seemed as though Larkin was attempting to toot his own horn, or at the very least demonstrate to everyone on the bridge that he felt he was qualified to do more than just pilot, which he was even if the captain hasn't yet given him the chance to do so.
"As a matter of fact Mr. Reinhardt, I have read the file of every person on this ship."
He looked back to the tactical station and decided it was time he had someone a little more experienced over there...
He tapped his combadge
"Bridge to Lt.Xena, report to tactical immediately."
He then looked at the crewman currently at the station.
"Crewman, consider yourself relieved of post, find the Lieutenant and ask her to join us here."
The crewman nodded and dashed off to carry out his orders...

"As a matter of fact Mr. Reinhardt, I have read the file of every person on this ship."
"Hell, thats impressive. Any stick out, you know not typical or are particularly note worthy? Every single person huh? Good to know your Chief of Security and not an enemy. Would not want you knowing all there is to know about me and you not be an ally, or better yet a friend. Hells bells, thats a little unsettling." Larkin said listening even as Mistak ordered Xena to the bridge.

Syell saw Lieutenant Mishtak coming onto the Bridge, playing hardball with Lieutenant Xena. Klingons. They highly value the chain of command. Typical. He thought it wouldn't be good to get on the bad side of Mishtak so early in his assignment, so instead, he rose from the Command chair to deliver a report.
"Lieutenant Mishtak, sir," he said. "We've moved into orbit as you ordered. I suggest scanning the planet and relaying anything we find to the Paris. The information may help them." He sat down in the Executive Officer chair to make room for Mishtak. There. Who said two lifetimes of being a Starfleet Officer doesn't come in handy?

"Hell, thats impressive. Any stick out, you know not typical or are particularly note worthy?
"There have been several actually."
Every single person huh? Good to know your Chief of Security and not an enemy. Would not want you knowing all there is to know about me and you not be an ally, or better yet a friend. Hells bells, thats a little unsettling."
"Yes, it is a good thing the Federation and the Empire have come to an understanding is it not?"
Now there would be an interesting dilemma for him, war between the federation and Klingon's again, which side would he choose? Worf chose the federation because that was all he knew, but Mishtak had been raised Klingon, within the Empire and had even served as captain of a ship for a short time. His home and family were with the Empire but Sharpay and his current assignment were with the federation. This was a decision he hoped he'd never have to make...
"Lieutenant Mishtak, sir. We've moved into orbit as you ordered. I suggest scanning the planet and relaying anything we find to the Paris. The information may help them."
"Make it so Number One..."
He sat down and looked at the cadet he had named temporary first officer.
"Also while you are on the bridge you are still in training. Lt. Cmdr Reinhardt will be overseeing your command training while on bridge duty."
That should cover all the bases, now where in the world was Xena, it didn't take that long to get to the bridge.

"Also while you are on the bridge you are still in training. Lt. Cmdr Reinhardt will be overseeing your command training while on bridge duty."
Larkin smirked and waved almost maliciously as if trying to un nerve the cadet. Larkin chuckled silently to himself an ran a hand over the top of his head feeling even more fuzz, at this rate he would have a full head of hair by morning. Faith. He then looked at the Cadet.
"Cadet Chrym, are you ready to have me as an instructor? Just like when I taught at the academy, I will expect only the best. One day perhaps you your self will be sitting in that chair." He gestured to the Captains chair. "And when you are, you're going to be the best. Kirk, Picard, Janeway, the MIA Sisco, these have been some of the brightest and best Captains and admirals Starfleet has ever produced. A good goal to set for yourself is a goal that I have for myself and all I instruct, become even better then them. Also if you think my teaching to harsh, remember one thing Cadet, YOU and those of your age and class are Starfleets future. My generation has to make sure that yours is prepared for whatever may come, so that when your quality is tested you can look back and say I did this, I made this choice and this happened because I made it so. With that said..." Larkin once more smirked. "No pressure and welcome to Command."
Larkin than looked at Mishtak and gave him a nod and had a difficult time from trying to stop from laughing and decided that if he did not turn around he would ruin everything and the Cadet would new that he was messing with him. Sometimes, life had a way of being brilliant.

Stepping out of the lift and onto the bridge Xena said: "Reporting as ordered." as she took her place behind the console at tactical. As she did so Xena could not help but notice that neither the captain nor the commander were on the bridge. She was aware that an away team had been assembled, but it was odd not to see one or the other on the bridge. It was also odd to see Cadet Syell in the commanders chair. "If no one minds my asking, where is our captain and first officer?"

When Commander Reinhardt gave him a whole speech about the training programme immediately after Mishtak told him to make it so, Syell couldn't help but feel a little annoyed. His service time in Starfleet had been longer than this man. Could he perhaps use a reminder that the man he was talking to was a Joined Trill with two Starfleet careers under his belt? Not the most distinguished though, he thought wrily, and Nycho's crime in particularly weighed heavy on his shoulders. "Yes sir, thank you" he said, and returned the smile. "And please, if you don't mind, sir." He made the request he had had to make so often to avoid association with Chrym. "Please call me Cadet Syell. I prefer it that way... for personal reasons."
Then Lieutenant Xena came in, looking confused to see him in the First Officer's chair. He couldn't help but smile at the look of surprise on her face. She asked about the Captain and First Officer. "Don't you know, Lieutenant?" he asked, as genuinely surprised as she was, "Captain Tiho and Commander Hughes are leading an Away Mission."
Speaking of the Away Mission, Rose Digby reported in asking them to open the Shuttlebay doors. Touching his commbadge, he said: "Digby, this is Syell. Good luck, we'll open them for you." He gave the appropriate order to the Operations division so that the Away Mission could depart.
"Lieutenant Denali," he said, putting his suggestion to Lieutenant Mishtak in motion. "Could you see to it that we gather as much useful information about this planet as we can with the sensors?" He delegated it wisely. I don't know half the people in the Science Department. And operating these sensors myself at such efficiency will be different.
