The group of four officers emerged from the turbolift into the street area of the Promenade, on the ground level. On the opposite side of the street, there was a large window that gave them, in this occasion, a spectacular vista of the plant Wendaln, which the station orbitted, in all its lush green colour. This, according to the schematics, was one of four "squares" where the turbolifts entered into the Promenade module. There were even benches arrayed to sit down on and enjoy the view. On the both sides of the window, there were numerous shops, a few empty, but they were filling up well. Above the shops, there was a second floor, a walkway of sorts, with a glass floor, which extended some way beyond the end of the shops. Even the usual traffic on a station's Promenade was already going on, albeit to a lesser degree. Behind them was one of the entrances to the station's infirmary. Art smiled as he saw medical personnel scurry in and out.
They walked the Promenade counter-clockwise, and after a few meters they came to a building that seemed quite out of place. For one, it was occupied. Secondly, it looked intriguingly old-fashioned, an anachronism. Its front was made of a curious combination of wood and modern materials, giving it the appearance of a typical 21st-century English pub in a 24th-century form. Above the door hung a sign, in the fashion of an old inn or pub, with a stylised image of a wormhole and a starship on it. Large letters in a golden colour spanning the length of the pub's front proclaimed: "The Portal Inn - Good Ales and Pub Food since 2391". Art laughed.
In front of the Portal Inn stood a man, dressed in a rather old-fashioned way, of around 67 years old: Cadfael Jaco, the pub's owner, personally recruited for this vital function by the Commander himself. "I see you're all-set, Cadfael," Arthur said, shaking Cadfael's hand. "The speed at which you have adjusted the place is impressive."

Magnus was moseying through the promenade, taking a gander at all there was to see. He had not really served on many stations and this was new to him. He could not help but think everything looked spiffy. He hope that he was not late for reporting in, gee whiz would that have been embarrassing. All the readings he was getting from his left eye was astounding, his father truly made sure he had the best. On the flip side of that wonderful cybernetic coin it was also very overwhelming. He had not completely adapted to the new eye and vertigo and lack of depth perception was still happening. Give it a week they said. Doctors, can't live with them. Can't live with out them.
Just then his left eye picked up four heat signatures further on down the promenade. Ok that was cool, he wondered...Awesome! He covered up his right eye as to help with the vertigo and allowed his left eye to zoom in on the four approaching figures, he switched back to normal vision, only after half blinding himself with night vision and then electrical pulse, and then x-ray, he quickly looked down when that happened. That was awesome, he would have to get this eye down better. FInally back to normal but zoomed in vision he saw that the four figured that were approaching were Commander Ashbury, Lieutenant Commander Celestia Milos, wait, Celeste? Way the hell out here. YES! He had not seen her since before the Nausican Massacre. He could not believe is one real eye, it really was Celeste and Lieutenants Woods and Browning. He concentrated on his eye some more and made it zoom back out. This thing was hardcore cool.
He decided that he would go and meet them, it looked that they were taking a tour of the promenade and decided it would be nice to join them if he were allowed. So he gathered himself uncovered his right eye and kept walking on toward the lot. As he rounded the corner he held up a hand waving like a frantic tune in the middle of a sharks feeding frenzy. He flashed them all a charming smile. They had not seen sadly and went into a place called the The Portal Inn, well in that case there was only one thing left to do. Follow them in and hope for the best. He made his way into The Portal Inn. He was just getting ready to open his mouth and say something when everything started spinning the party before him went out of view, then came carpet them sharp pain in his nose as he embraced the carpet with his face. That was...unexpected and super embarrassing.
He did not move but stayed laying there and made the gesture of a white flag surrender with his hand. Blasted depth perception, stupid fake eye. He will always be remembered now as the guy that fell on his face. Cause as the galaxy well knows, thats how you get promoted, falling on your face. He chuckled with his face still in the carpet. Great start Magnus, great start, what the hell are you going to do for an encore? Oh well no use crying over....stuff.

Cadfael had just put the finishing touches to the pub's front, with a little help from his grandson Hugh and some of his staff that had already arrived. It looked cosy and conveyed exactly the image he wanted it to convey: it breathed the atmosphere of an English Pub, in and outside. No changes needed, he thought as he nodded in approval. Exactly the way I like it. And soon, my customers will like it too. He decided to invite the Station's Senior Staff over for a grand opening once the dust had cleared on the station's construction. Until then, the pub would be open to all, of course. No sense in keeping it from them while they were working.
He heard a familiar laugh behind him and turned to see Arthur enter from a distance. His friend, now in Starfleet Commander's uniform, was leading a group of his fellow officers that included Lieutenant-Commander Milos (whom he had heard much about), an elder man out of uniform and an Operations division officer. Arthur came towards him, shaking his hand. "I see you're all-set, Cadfael," Arthur said. "The speed at which you have adjusted the place is impressive."
"I wouldn't worry about me getting all set, my friend," he said with a chuckle. "Are you all set?" He grinned at Arthur.

"I wouldn't worry about me getting all set, my friend," "Are you all set?"
Typical Cadfael, Arthur thought. Always ready to use that wit of his on anyone he likes. Not even the presence of my fellow officers can stop him from doing that. Well, about right. "Oh, we're coming along fine," he said. "We're briefing in about an hour. In the meantime, we're taking a tour of the station." He realised he hadn't introduced the others to Cadfael yet. "You haven't met these officers yet, have you? My mistake." He smiled. "This young lady is Celestia Milos, my Executive Officer. The gentlemen are Lieutenant Gideon Woods, my Intelligence Officer and Lieutenant James Browning, my Chief of Operations." He motioned to each of them as he introduced them. "This is Cadfael Jaco, an old friend of mine. Retired Federation Ambassador, new bartender and in general, a pleasant old man who likes sticking his round nose in other people's business to their benefit." The latter was obviously a teasing remark, and Art chuckled.

Art introduced Cadfael to his fellow officers. Cadfael greeted each in time, studying them intently with his somewhat pale blue eyes when they were introduced to him. It was always a pleasure to meet new people for Cadfael, to speak to them and to get to know them: he'd see them in his bar, hopefully, and be able to help them out.
Then Arthur introduced him. "This is Cadfael Jaco, an old friend of mine. Retired Federation Ambassador, new bartender and in general, a pleasant old man who likes sticking his round nose in other people's business to their benefit." Cadfael laughed heartily. "I think that is a fitting description," he commented pleasantly. "In fact, I couldn't have said it any better myself!"
"It's nice to meet you," the owner of the Portal Inn said. "And I hope to see you all in the Portal in time. I know at least one of you - not naming any names," he said with a 'holier than thou' look on his face as he turned to look intently at Arthur, "will come, if he has any intention of keeping his promises." He chuckled.
He had begun to take a liking to his retirement job. Perhaps he could even be of help to the station crew and give them a share of his experience.

(OOC: Magnus's post was merged into the thread so the order is off. The events described in that post occur in this post)
"And I hope to see you all in the Portal in time. I know at least one of you - not naming any names," he said with a 'holier than thou' look on his face as he turned to look intently at Arthur, "will come, if he has any intention of keeping his promises." He chuckled.
Arthur was amused by Cadfael's little quip in his direction. "I wonder who you mean?" he said with a straight face that totally failed to hide the fact that he knew the old man was talking about him. "No seriously, I'm coming to sample that pub food of yours tonight. And..."
Before he could ask Cadfael to make the reservation for both Celeste and himself, he heard a stumble behind him. A little startled, he looked over his shoulder and saw Lieutenant Wilson, his Chief of Security, lying on the ground making the sign of the white flag. He quickly abandoned his conversation with Cadfael and moved over to the man, offering him a hand to stand up.
"Lieutenant Wilson, I presume?" he asked. "Are you alright?"

"Lieutenant Wilson, I presume?" he asked. "Are you alright?"
Magnus looked up to Ashbury's hand. He took it and made it to his feet. He shook his head as he dusted himself off. Figures this would happen, he had no luck. He looked up and saw the Commander and the four others that were here. He cheeks reddened with a hint of a blush. Yep, will always be known as the Chief of stumbling.
Magnus flashed Arthur a smile that could rival one of his. "Yes Commander. Just gettin use to the new eye. Having issues with depth perception, ergo I became intimate with floor. But its fine, nothing broke, I think, and I am awesome. The Doctor said to give it a week. I kinda felt nervous having a hologram operorate on me but hey, did a fantastic job. Also can I call you Commander Artie?" Magnus riddled it all of half laughing half jovially. He was a really lighthearted guy considering what he went through.

Magnus's quick recovery surprised Art, especially the smile which indeed could rival his. He had of course read his Chief of Security's records: he was a decorated Starfleet Security man. Just before transfer, he had lost his eye fighting the Nausicaans. As his new Commanding Officer, Arthur had seen the reports in preparation for his mission.

"Good to hear, Lieutenant," Arthur said, smiling at the cheerful demeanour of his Security Chief. It appeared he hadn't just picked the best man in terms of qualifications, but also a man who fit in quite well with his style, at first glance. "And to tell you the truth, I don't much fancy 'Artie'. Arthur is fine." In most formal situations, the Commander reflected, it would be fine too, although he was sure that they'd learn that soon enough. Starfleet officers were usually more rigid about modes of address than he was, but he wouldn't reprimand any of his friends if they called him by his first name on duty. He never had. "And you can always call me Commander. Or sir. You know the protocols." He chuckled.
"How do you find the Promenade?" he inquired pleasantly. "No problems here? Apart from the floor you just sampled, I mean. You have quite an eye for detail." He joked, and as usual when in command, was fairly relaxed and casual. It was his style.

"Good to hear, Lieutenant, And to tell you the truth, I don't much fancy 'Artie'. Arthur is fine."
Magnus chuckled. He liked this guy, he was like a slightly older him, sort of like an older brother that he wished he had because if he had he would not have gotten into as much trouble for getting even on his sister. "Fair enough, Arthur it is, oh, and please call me Magnus, or Leon if you want, I don't know how many Magnus' you know but I am the best one, at least the most likable one...I think..." He shrugged than and laughed.
How do you find the Promenade? No problems here? Apart from the floor you just sampled, I mean. You have quite an eye for detail."
"Arthur couldn't you tell, I think the Promenade is delicious! I have not introduced the to of you." Raised up his hands and in a grand gesture towards the floor he says "Arthur this Sally, Sally this is Arthur, my boss, so behave! Sally and I are madly in love Arthur, and my face plant into the floor was actually a passionate kiss." He could not even finish his sentence with out laughing hard.

He knew when he'd had enough of a good thing, and this was it. The joke was rather funny, and Arthur laughed heartily, already taking a liking to Lieutenant Wilson, but he knew when he had to get to business, and this was that sort of time. "Very droll, Magnus," he said. "Now seriously, any Security problems I should be aware of?"

James followed the other officers out of the turbo lift once they reached the promenade module. While they were walking around he noticed an odd building, it looked like an old style English B&B Pub.
He saw the Commander walking towards an older gentleman standing in front of the old looking structure. After the commander started to speak, James quickly realized the two men knew each other and were good friends.
After being introduced to one another James responded "Nice to meet you, fancy nice place you have hear." He awaited a reply from the old man.

Magnus instantly went back to business himself. He liked that in Ashbury. This man clearly knew when to get down to business and when to be himself. He liked this guy. Good Commander.
"Give me a moment Sir." Magnus put his hand over his right eye and looked around with his left one. His zoom features and x-ray vision was coming in handy. He spoon around taking in the station. and then finally looked back at Arthur and took a seat. He took his hand away from his real eye and and looked up at Arthur.
"No sir, nothing to report at this time. Everything is safe. Love being a cyborg, enhancement come with multiple vision and sprectral analysis systems. And much, much more. Some side effects include dizzyness, intense feeling of vertigo, and depth-imperception." He sighted off like an infomercial.

Post by Lt. Cmdr. Celestia Milos on Apr 27, 2011 12:22:32 GMT -5
On their tour they ended up outside of a pub, or at least it seemed. Celestia was not fully up to date with twenty first century looks of things. The name though was ever familiar; perhaps that's because Arthur mentioned it before hand as where they were going to have dinner. That was something Celestia was rather looking forward to.
The next thing to happen was an introduction to the pub's owner. Celestia took a rather quick liking to him. "Pleased to meet you. Something tells me it could be possible to swap a few stories over a certain someone in this group." Celestia said with a bright smile; suppressing a light laugh. Celestia was about to speak again when she too heard a stumble. Turning to look as Art went off toward the officer. Celestia just watched. I think I know him.
After a few minutes; which is what it took for Art and... the other to converse and get back on his feet it came to her. Magnus. At least now he can't chase me around a backyard with a stick. For some reason that was the first memory to come to mind. "You sound like your trying to sell, which after the stunning performance of gracefulness I think I'll pass."

"You sound like your trying to sell, which after the stunning performance of gracefulness I think I'll pass."
"Celeste!!! Excuse me Sir." He quickly made his way over to Celestia and picked her up in arms in a huge hug and kissed her cheek* "How have you been I have not seen you in ages, Lt. Commander now huh? Very nice." He playfully nudged her. "You're practically the same, well I mean your more of a woman now, no that did not come out right, I mean you're more beautiful now and have grown into a fine young woman."
Not being able to hold in his delight over working with such a fantastic group of people he began doing a twenty first century dance called the Moon Walk. All around the pub and then came back to Celestia. "Did you see how incredibly awesome that was? Yeah I learned that before I became a Cyborg" He said putting up his hands in a mock horror.

"Pleased to meet you. Something tells me it could be possible to swap a few stories over a certain someone in this group." Arthur wondered where that came from, as it was pretty certain that she meant him. He wondered how Cadfael would react to his First Officer's remarks. Before he could see that, of course, Magnus fell to the ground.
As the conversation with Magnus progressed, Arthur took a liking to his Security Chief. "No sir, nothing to report at this time. Everything is safe. Love being a cyborg, enhancement come with multiple vision and sprectral analysis systems. And much, much more. Some side effects include dizzyness, intense feeling of vertigo, and depth-imperception." Then Celeste spared him the trouble of answering, and he couldn't help laughing. "You sound like your trying to sell, which after the stunning performance of gracefulness I think I'll pass."
He wondered what she knew Magnus from. They seemed to be quite attracted to eachother. He wondered even if he could be the love that she mentioned she'd found. But he also wondered that about himself after what he had heard her say to Cadfael, so he resolved not to pay too much attention to it. He enjoyed being single, until he found the love of his life.
"You two know eachother?" he asked. He also thought of a way to get out of the rather embarrassing situation. He wasn't sure Browning and Jethro would like the way Wilson was acting. "By the way, we have only one hour. If we want to see the rest of the Station before our briefing, we'd better get going. Cadfael can manage on his own.
