Honor? Sounds like a line for a junior high or high school prom. Celestia couldn't help but think. Back during those teenage times one Earth, some guy asked Celestia to prom using the word honor. It was really silly actually. And of course her answer had been a direct no, but the boys persistence earned him a black eye. No meant no.
"Far be it for a promise to be broken." Celestia returned the smile.
The channel was then opened for communication. A few words were exchanged; what else?
"Oh!"
Oh what? You were doing fine. Arthur then motioned for Celestia to come over. Which of course she did. He then went on to introduce her. After that took place Celestia said: "Nice to meet you Elder Guide S'bos. Thank you very much for the welcome, and for your kind generosity." Of course she meant the sharing of technology, wormhole, and the agreement about Delta One should they ever be attacked. "I hope the day found you well."
Celestia was not exactly the very best person when it came to meeting new species diplomatically. Though she did have a good ear for new languages that the universal translator failed to fully translate. It was one of her specialties. Generally Celestia would say hello using the natives tongue, but this case was slightly different.

Elder Guide S'bos stayed still. It unnerved Art, but he had heard why this was: because the Rathren, unlike other humanoids, communicated emotions with smells rather than facial expressions. "Very well, Commander," he said. "I hope yours was pleasant too." Art nodded, trusting that S'bos would understand.
"Speaking of a welcome," he said. "We'd like to formally come to your station tomorrow to officially welcome you to the Delta Quadrant. Is that convenient?" Art couldn't refuse. "We'd be honoured, Elder," he said respectfully. "We'll be ready to receive you at any time."
The transmission ended. "Sounds like fun," he said, looking at Celeste and smiling. "Now, shall we take a look at the rest of the Station?"

James had just arrived aboard the Delta One Space Station along with his youngest Daughter Sarah. Although James hated leaving his daughter alone in a strange new place, he knew he would be way too busy to have her with him. After all he would be in charge of making sure the station was put together properly.
After arriving at his quarters he briefly unpacked and left his daughter in their quarters, he knew she would do a great job at decorating, she had a flare for that kind of thing, something James always wanted but never quite had. After exiting his quarters he made his way through the corridors on his way to operations. He knew that even though he would have a lot of work ahead he needed to check in with his CO to at least let him know he had arrived.
James came up the turbo lift and onto the operations floor where he saw the Commander and first officer, as well he caught a glimpse of a man of the view screen before it shut off. James walked onto the deck and announce "Commander, Lieutenant Browning reporting for duty". He knew it sounded kind of cheesy, but he wasn't sure what else was really appropriate as he didn't know the Commander or the first officer.
Adding "I just wanted to let you know I had arrived and that I will be getting to work on getting this station fully operational within the next week". He then awaited for a response from the other officers.

Celestia actually felt quite relieved when the transmission was cut. Truth? She had been a little nervous. Which was not exactly like her to be nervous. At least when it came to meeting another species, she'd not been nervous before; excited was more the word to use. Perhaps what happened in the last month and all she had to deal with from the living effected her more than she thought.
She let out a breath. "Fun? If you say so." Celestia replied looking into Arthur's eyes, and smiling back. "At least the first phone call was a success."
"Now, shall we take a look at the rest of the Station?"
"I'd like that." Celestia smiled softly. Any time they got to spend together Celestia found quite pleasant. But then...
Someone reported for duty. Lieutenant Browning. From the gold uniform he was part of engineering or operations. And since this was a notification he was on board, Celestia left it to Arthur to speak first. The man had said 'commander' anyhow, and Arthur was head of the station.

The shuttle trip from the Orion to the newly constructed Delta One station had taken a day or two longer than he had anticipated, he hoped he wasn't arriving too late. He was fairly certain his new commanding officer would have something to say about his arrival into Ops wearing civilian clothing, but his uniforms had not yet been properly altered and he couldn't very well wear something that didn't fit properly. So it was that he arrived in Ops, the two commanding officers were there as well as a man in a gold uniform, obviously ops, Jethro had spent some time in an Ops position aboard the Orion. He found himself thinking back to a conversation he'd had with Sharpay Harper in the holodeck before his departure, he would miss moments like that, but at the same time was looking forward to getting to know an entirely different crew. His experience aboard the Orion made him uniquely qualified for a position on the station. He had read the first hand reports and spoken with members of the original away team about the first meeting with the Rathren.
He made a mental note to re-read the reports and put together an Intel file on them to get started, he'd then do the same for every race encountered by the station as well as receive the reports from the Orion's Intel Officer in order to gather as much Intel on the races of the Delta Quadrant for starfleet command.
He entered Ops and approached the other officers.
"Gideon Jethro Woods, reporting for duty."
He made no apology for his lack of uniform, nor did he state his rank, they were in command they had better well know his rank just by his name otherwise he would question their ability to be in command of such a fragile station in the unknown regions of Delta...

Arthur had been rather enjoying the conversation with Celestia. She was an old friend and they had some catching up to do. Besides, she looked rather good as well, and there was a certain quality to their relationship that make them fit well with eachother. He wondered what it was. Then Lieutenant Browning reported for duty.
Arthur didn't know the man personally, but he knew his duty record. He'd studied it extensively after he had put the man on his shortlist. I guess that doesn't prepare either of us for the real thing, he thought. He seems to cling just a bit to protocols, but that'll probably stop once he gets to know me better. It usually did. Then a man who introduced himself as Gideon Jethro Woods came in, without uniform. Mr Woods was to be his Intelligence Officer. Art liked his casual outfit, although he hoped it was a one-time experience. He had to follow protocols, after all. He resolved not to remark on it.
"Mr Browning, Mr Woods" he said pleasantly, making a welcoming gesture. "Welcome aboard. As you probably noticed, I am Arthur Ashbury, your friendly station Commanding Officer," he smiled. "And this is Lieutenant-Commander Celestia Milos, our Executive Officer."
"We're just about to leave Ops and see the rest of our brand-new station for ourselves," he said. "Why don't you two join us?"

"Mr Browning, Mr Woods"
So the other man was Lt. Browning of Ops, the chief of Ops to be exact, Jethro had seen his name on a file somewhere. He had yet to actually settle into his office or review the staff files.
"Welcome aboard.
"Thank you sir."
As you probably noticed, I am Arthur Ashbury, your friendly station Commanding Officer,"
"Pleased to meet you."
"And this is Lieutenant-Commander Celestia Milos, our Executive Officer."
He noticed she was a red head, he had a thing for red heads but tried not to let his gaze linger too long, even though she was very attractive.
"Ma'am."
"We're just about to leave Ops and see the rest of our brand-new station for ourselves,"
A tour, just what he needed, they wouldn't be very effective at their jobs if they didn't know their way around the station.
"Why don't you two join us?"
"I can't speak for Mr. Browning, but I'd love to see the rest of the station."
They just had to see if Mr. Browning would be joining them now, it would make sense for him to come along as he was going to be in charge of making sure the station stayed functioning at all times, not that they expected to be attacked or anything but you never know, after all this is the Delta Quadrant and the Borg might still have a lingering presence out here.

Just then another officer reported for duty, and out of uniform. Arthur hadn't commented on it, which was his prerogative. It did bother Celestia just a little bit. Though first day and all that, it could be overlooked. Besides, for all she knew Woods could have run into some kind of alien moth creature that demanded all his uniforms, and he just barely escaped with the clothes on his back! That would be some 'fabricated' story.
"And this is Lieutenant-Commander Celestia Milos, our Executive Officer."
"Ma'am."
Celestia gave Woods a nod when he acknowledged her. For a super brief moment she thought she saw his gaze linger a bit. Right now she just dismissed it, and chalked it up to her imagination. The man was old enough to be her father. Aside from that, maybe he had never seen a half Bajoran before and thought her nose ridges might be less noticeable.
"Gentleman, as Commander Ashbury said: welcome aboard. I hope both of you had an easy time getting here." Man alive, did that ever feel odd coming off the tongue. I think I much prefer Arthur. And friendly was a very good word to use.
"Oh, yes. By all means. The more the merrier!" Celestia added kindly with a friendly smile after Arthur invited the two other officers to join them on seeing the rest of the station. Just as long as they don't join us for dinner... The thought had inadvertently entered her mind. She just shrugged it off.
"I can't speak for Mr. Browning, but I'd love to see the rest of the station."
"Good. So, what about it Mister Browning, you coming along?"

With an invitation from his commanding officer to join a tour of the station, it was something he really couldn't refuse. After all, he wasn't familiar with the station quite yet. But he also thought to himself it would give him a good chance to see what exactly needed to be done to get the station up to standards.
"I would be happy to join you for a tour, will give me a chance to see what work still needs to be done". With that he gestured for the commander to lead the way.

There was not much to be done in Ops yet. Arthur had scheduled a briefing in the Observation Lounge in about an hour, so there was time. In that time, junior officers would arrive in Ops and run the routine operations of the station. "Let's go to the Promenade first," he said.
He walked over to the turbolift and said: "Promenade module."

It looked like they were all going off to tour the station! Celestia followed Arthur's lead in where they were going. No doubt he knew the place better than her; at least for now. After they were all in the lift the order was given to go to the Promenade module. This ought to be real interesting.
