The doors parted with their usual hiss as Lilly entered sickbay. She only had a small amount of training so far, but her mother had been in the medical field, and also...this must be one of the reasons they had an EMH.

"Computer, please activate the emergency medical holographic program."

There was a bleep of acknowledgment from the computer, so Lilly suspected that the EMH had been activated somewhere within these walls of healing. "Doctor, we have a problem on our hands." Lilly announced calmly as possible.

She then went over to the monitor, and hooked up an audio/visual link to the bridge.

"We're coordinating from the bridge."

[The Doctor (EMH-I)]

The Doctor was in. Well, he was always in. He had been rusting a while while there was no medical emergency. That did bother him: on Voyager (well, he was a copy of the EMH from Voyager), he was allowed to activate and terminate his programme as he pleased. On Voyager, he was the Doctor, not some kind of computer programme. He started by stating his catchphrase: "Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

Then he looked around and saw who was talking to him. A girl, half-Bajoran. "Doctor, we have a problem on our hands, she said. That annoyed him a bit. "Well, that's what I'm for, am I?" he said, a bit grumpy. "Do I have to say it again? Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

"Oh. Sorry." Lilly apologized to the doctor. "The emergency is that the crew, all except Commander Hughes, Shawn O' Conner, and myself, as far as I know, are acting like children. I think it might have something to do with the new planet where we got new foods, but I'm not one hundred percent sure, but..."

Lilly walked over to the sickbay console and pulled up her time window she found so the doctor could see. "See?" Lilly gestured to the times before going back to the monitor. That should do it. "Can you hear and see us commander?"

[The Doctor (EMH-I)]

"Acting like children?" the Doctor said, surprised and slightly appalled. It seemed a ridiculous notion. "In all my years in space - that is, when I wasn't rusting in a databank - I've never heard such a thing, miss..." he asked her name. He didn't seem to listen to the part about the new foods, but he still reacted. After all, he was a hologram, a mere computer program, and that meant it could look like he didn't pay attention while he actually did. 'Food, you say?" he added. "Interesting theory."

He looked at the time table, then when the Bridge was contacted, he looked at the screen. "I hope he can," he told Lilly.

"In all my years in space - that is, when I wasn't rusting in a databank - I've never heard such a thing, miss..."

She had just come to realize two things: She had forgot to tell him her name. And two: He seemed very touchy. Like his feelings were hurt. "My name is Lillian Daniels, doctor, but my friends just call me Lilly. As far as rusting in a databank, maybe when this is over you'd like to relax on the holodeck with me?" It was a genuine offer.

"Interesting theory."

"Thank you." Lilly said brightly, with a smile. "I was hoping it might be valuable."

"What do ya know? I did it!" Now back to work... "What should be our first step?" Lilly inquired looking both at Hughes, and the EMH as she gave a little wave to Shawn who had said 'hi'.

[Lieutenant Kenneth Vanderbill]

The doctor was taken by surprise at Miss Daniels offer about spending time on the holodeck. That was something that never happened before, well to him. He was nothing but photons and force-fields. No Starfleet officer ever paid attention or spent time with a medical program, well except the rare Voyager crew. That doctor had become a valued friend, and not to mention a jack of all trades, as well as a family man.

No one knew how that was possible. Hologram having a child? Unsolved mysteries. But what else was Starfleet? They were sent to explore places no one had been before, and the EMH was always the last to know about anything!

"I'll need some time to think about it. Right now we have more pressing matters that that of how to spend your recreation time." The EMH said a tad gruffly. "Right now our primary goal is to find the cause of this behavior and come up with a treatment."

"From the time table you gave me it shows the crew started this strange child behavior shortly after leaving the planet. Did any of them ingest the new food brought on board? Also, I'd like to request that a fruit and a vegetable from the planet be brought to sickbay for analysis. It could prove in finding a way to cure the Starfleet officers of their wonder years. I'd also be appreciative if someone would check the bio filters."

"Aye doctor." Lilly said in response about their primary goal. Well, he was right. Then she had to stifle a laugh at what was unfolding on the bridge. Thanks to audio/visual link they could see and hear everything that was going on.

Apparently Lieutenant Xena had dressed Captain Tiho up as a bride for Commander Hughes, and then the chief science officer walked onto the bridge congratulating Captain Tiho and Commander Hughes about the marriage and also asked if Shawn O' Conner was her son.

"I can't check the bio filters because I don't have clearance for that, but I can go fetch a fruit and a vegetable. I'll be right back with them." Lilly announced as she left sickbay to go to the mess hall in order to retrieve a fruit and vegetable that they had gotten from the planet New Eden.

Lilly re-entered sickbay with what the tricorder said was a fruit and what was a vegetable. She walked up to the EMH. "Here doctor," Lilly said with a smile as she presented them to the doctor. The fruit was a mix of yellow, purple, and green. It was the shape of a potato. The vegetable was orange with swirls of black. It was shaped like a pear.

"The tricorder said that this was the fruit," Lilly pointed to the potato shaped one. "and this was or is a vegetable." Lilly finished with pointing to the pear shaped one.

It was then she heard Commander Hughes tell Shawn to go get them.

"That's not necessary, sir. I went and fetched them as soon as the doctor said he needed them."

Owen was too slow to sneak in when the door closed on him. What was she doing in there? Was that the sick bay? He wondered if he was able to sneak in without her noticing him. Slowly, he stepped close to the door. The door swooshed opened and he was standing there red handed. He had a pathetic look. He had a long lost look on his face as a little boy who lost his mommy. He knew the EMH very well. Owen never really accepted the doctor as part of the crew because he was a holo program.

He walked in slowly because it was a sick bay. He always wanted to be a doctor. His dark brown eyes were roaming around the room as he noticed it was not clean as a medical facility should be. He made an eeky face. “Messy, sick bay,” he said looking at broken vile near a biobed.

Owen looked at fruit. “Can I have one?” he was hungry and he wanted to eat more.

"Here doctor,"

The EMH turned from what he was starting to work on. It seemed Miss Daniels was back, almost as soon as she had gone. Then she went on to tell what was what. The doctor looked at the food. "Why and how could one possibly eat this? Obviously the crew needs a bright neon sign pointing to this oddly colored food saying 'Danger, do not eat'."

"They look like Ty-died t-shirts!" The doctor took a medical tool, and extracted something from the fruit, then slide it under the microscope. "Full magnification...please."

"Yes doctor." Lilly replied switching the scope to zoom in fullest. Then a swish of the sickbay doors.

“Messy, sick bay,”

Well, he must be a hypochondriac. The place was in top notch shape. Sparkling clean, except for that one vile. That must have happened...come to think of it Lilly couldn't remember. Well, it must not have happened on her 'shift' in sickbay.

“Can I have one?”

"No. The doctor is running an important experiment on these two foods." I think he might have eaten the food. "Would you like to help me with something?"

Owen was watching the hologram doctor. That hologram doctor looked familiar. Is the doctor Owen’s uncle? Why could Owen not recall the doctor? He shifted his feet as he was nervous.

“Sure,” he said as he was walking in. “Should I clean that up first?” Stopping near the broken glass, he had a worried look. “We don’t want someone get hurt.”

Lieutenant Healy bothered him. "Yes, go clean that up," he said, somewhat sort of snapping. "I'm a bit busy, as you see. And as you know, I'm a doctor, not a multi-task supercomputer." What did I just say? No time on his circuits to sort out exactly why he said that. Now to return to his important and responsible job.

"Ah, I see," he thought aloud. "I think that somehow, it's the fruit's juice that is producing the effect. It contains large amounts of this-" he pointed at the screen, "oddly-shaped hydrated molecule." He chuckled contently. "Most excellent, miss Daniels. It seems the Orion found the Fountain of Youth."

"Hello, Commander Hughes?" he looked at the screen, trying to get the First Officer's attention, but he seemed very busy talking to someone else. "Commander?" Apparently, the Commander was occupied.

Lilly let Owen clean up the mess, then she put up a medical tricorder to him and began to scan. "This is interesting..." She interfaced her readings with the sickbay computer. Right away the doctor got full access to her scan. What was in the crew that ate the fruits and veggies would get out of the crews' system on its own, or they could just release a medicine in gas form through the ventilation systems. Lilly and the doctor quickly made a gas surem. "We're ready to release it into the ships ventilation system." Lilly announced.

As the air was being cleansed by the computer, Owen looked he was having a hard time. Leaning up against the broom he had, he was slowly coming around. “What—wha?” as he was asking he looked confused. “How did I get here?”
