Kamon raised an eyebrow at Sharpay as she caught up with the group, obviously still peeved at him. So this is how she reacts. "Indeed it is an excellent question," Kamon said. "The bio-neural gelpacks of the Orion are also susceptible to the same type of colds, as the Captain, suggests. Just like with any kind of cold, it comes in two ways, viral and bacterial." Kamon let a little of his knowledge go free for a bit. "In case of a viral attack, we will have to let it run its course. In case of a bacterial attack, we have the opportunity to fix it. On Stardate 48846, the USS Voyager was infected with a viral disease. It consumed the entire ship's gel packs. It was brought up that if the warp core was brought online and generated a warp field, it would heat every gel pack on the ship causing widespread . . . . "cure."" Kamon got to give a little history lesson there too. Thanks for taht one

"You know you're history. I'm impressed." Lydia complimented. Not many people she knew could come up with a correct answer on the spot as well as a bit of a history lesson. This was something she was hoping to expect from all of her officers...someday. She of course knew there were a few rookies on board. They would learn with time, for with time came experience.
Lydia looked to Commander Gallant and Lt. Commander zh'Loran wondering if they had any questions. If they did now was obviously a good time to ask.

Sharpay was not pleased that Lt. Willsun knew the answer and replied so casually as if it were no big deal presenting a piece of history with the answer. She also didn't like it that the captain complimented him;no doubt he'd brag later or something of the sorts.
Yes...impressive.
What was his weakness? He had to have one,for everyone did. Withholding a sigh and the urge to roll her eyes Sharpay coolly thought of something else. Of course she'd ask it a little later since she didn't want to slow the tour, but the question was a duesy.

The tour continued room by room and deck by deck, answering questions here and there. On deck fourteen, Kamon went over the Antimatter processing system with those who were present. On deck thriteen, Kamon showed the escape pod access and the aft tractor beam emitter. Deck twelve was the next place of great interest as it was the home of deflector control. "The main deflector is made of molybdenum and duranium alloy mesh panels over a tritanium framework. The dish can be manually moved ten degrees in any directionand the dish's shield and sensor power comes from two graviton polarity generators located on Deck ten, each capable of generating 128 MW, which can be fed into two 480 millicochrane subspace field distortion generators."
Finished with his little lesson, Kamon paused for a moment for questions, since he was sure they would come.

"And if the two graviton polarity generators stopped working and we were far from any station you would do what?" Lydia questioned as she folded her arms across her chest. She needed people who knew what they were doing, and wanted people that could catch on to if she said something that didn't make sense.
She glanced at her first officer and security chief briefly curious as to why they were not asking any questions.

"Once again it would depend on the circumstances. In worst case scenario, the generators would be damaged beyond repair, and at that point we would have to replicate new ones. Thankfully it is a pretty simple process, but it takes a while to replicate them." Come on too, easy. Kamon noticed the Captain look at all the officers. Hmmmm. . . .

Actually the worst case would be having the replicators go offline when we needed to replicate the generators. Sharpay thought with a little smirk. "Are you sure that would be the worst case?" There were a few other ideas of chance that could be thought of,but right now...
Sharpay resisted a shrug.

"What miss Harper is referring to is if the replicators were offline." Kamon looked at Sharpay. "If the replicators were offline, then we must have had to reroute power for some other vital system and if they actually went down, I am highly inclined to believe that we would have more imortant problems to worry about. Most likely, the two of us would be in engineering trying to get propulsion online. In wartime, there are sacrifices that have to be made for the preservation of the crew."

Most likely? How about for sure...
Sharpay tried to hide a soft smile that wanted to break through when Lt. Willsun had looked at her. She turned her head away from everyone as casually as possible; almost pretending if something had caught her eye. She didn't want the whole crew to know there was nothing going on.
New situation...something new...think,think,think...

After finishing up with the main deflector, Kamon led the group past deck eleven and to deck ten. Deck ten was an important deck, as it housed the main computer core and the main shuttle bay, not to mention the forward torpedo launchers, the reserve warp core, the flight control center, and the navigational deflector. Kamon led the group into the shuttle bay, pointing out the flight control center and listing the types of shuttles that were at the Orion's disposal. "Onboard, we have four type nine and two type six medium short range shuttlecraft, two type eighteen shuttlepods, two workbee maintenance pods, and a type nine A cargo shuttle."

He led them back out and towards the computer core. "And here is what inanimately keeps the ship together. The AC-15 computer core was developed on Binar by Krane Systems and implemented specifically on intrepid class starships. As you know, the computer is used for virtually eerything from navigation and science to sonic showers. Without it, the Orion would be very hard to operate."

At the comment of the shuttles Sharpay smirked. She knew something he didn't,most probably something that only the captain was supposed to know for during her study time on the starbase Sharpay had come across something rather interesting. At some point in time the Orion would be receiving an Alpha Flyer; basically a updated version of the Delta Flyer that Tom Paris had originally created. Not only that, but it would have some extra supplies on it. That was as far as Sharpay had gotten with her 'research'.
"Heaven forbid this should ever happen, but what if the computer failed sometime during our mission, and we were out of hailing range of any vessel. What would you have us do; hook up bicycles and pedal?"

Kamon shot a glance at Sharpay, after her sarcastic ending, that said Really? That's it? Keep it coming. "Yes Miss Harper, Heaven forbid that happen. We do have the auxilary core, but as this seems to be another worst case scenario question, we will assume that option has already been exhausted. A series of tricorders can be linked to assume control of any particular system. In essence, every system could be controlled in this manner." Kamon was enjoying this back and forth between him and Sharpay. Must be because of my dumb act of kindness in the lift. He added, "but if the tricorders fail Miss Harper, we will most certainly use your idea. I'll even let you have first go on pedaling."
Score one for Kamon.

'Very funny.' Sharpay mouthed to Kamon. She didn't exactly seemed too pleased but of course with this mob of a crowd around she wasn't about to look it. "I'm guessing you'll set up a schedule for peddling too." Sharpay said quietly with a hint of dry playfulness. There will be no bicycles built for two.
"It'd only be fair." She added shortly after. "Wouldn't want you to slack off and miss your turn, chief."
Personally I think I'd rather see you outside pushing.

The next couple of decks were basic systems and crew quarters, with a couple of offices here and there. The next area of any interest was the armory on deck six. it was an easy gloss over as it was pretty simple to figure out what was behind the doors. "Here we have a variety of phaser pistols, phaser rifles, and compression rifles if there is any state of emergency or armed conflict." They continued on to Deck five, which housed one of the most important parts of the ship: sick bay.
As they entered, Kamon said, "the medical field is not my area of expertise, but we do have someone who might be able to shed some light on the subject for us. Computer, activate Emergency Medical Holographic program." The EMH appeared an instant later.
"Please state the nature of the medical emergency."
Kamon replied, "no emergency doc. we are on the tour here and I was just wondering if we could ask you a few questions."
The EMH replied, "I'm a doctor, not a tour guide."
"Obviously, the doc needs to work on a little more bedside manner. What are your qualifications, Doc?"
"I am fully programmed in all Starfleet medical practices and protocols and i can serve as a permanent Chief Medical officer if the current chief medical officer is incapacitated."

"Talk about working on my bedside manor. I think you should work on your bedside manor. Talking about me as if I wasn't in the room." The Doc said rather quickly, and almost what might be describe as a huff.
"Despite the fact that I'm a hologram I have feelings too,and I would appreciate it if you talked to me as if my presence mattered, and showed me some respect."
The Doc paused a second. "How would you feel if I disregarded you as being here or as life just because you are different. Remember we don't want it to come down to rights."
Sharpay smiled. "I completely agree. After all the Doc is like us in a lot of ways. Caring,sensitive,intelligent...the list goes on."
"Why thank you miss for somewhat educating the neanderthal."
