Who's looking forward to the 11th movie? I was hoping for a TNG or VOY movie, but a TOS prequel isn't bad. I'm concerned that the general public might reject it as unoriginal. A lot of my friends seem to think that they should do TNG, VOY, or introduce a new starship crew. When I mention it'll be a TOS prequel, they tend to roll their eyes. Still, it might be good. It deffinately won't be a remake since Leonard Nimoy returns as an old Spock meaning there will either be a time travel plot or flashforwards (instead of flashbacks).

Well i dont care what i've heard people say that it's gonna be a complete failure, every Star Trek film i've watched - i have liked and some loved. so i'm pretty sure that it's gona be good, i really liked the TOS Movies already done, more of the Undiscovered Country, anyway if their accomplished a TOS Movie before, they can do it again and this time with more effects and realism.

The thing is, those old Star Trek movies from 1979-91 were from the days of Gene Roddenberry, Harve Bennet, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForrest Kelly, and so on. This new movie's only familiar face will be Leonard Nimoy, which I guess is a smart move. The problem is that the movie is being produced by J.J. Abrams. A lot of people love his work, but a lot of people have absolutely no idea who he is because his fame comes from TV, not cinema. Since this is a movie, it's going to be largely the movie crowd (in addition to fans of the TV show) going to see this movie. I doubt it'll be the finacial disaster that Nemesis was, but I do think it's possible that too many people will feel like they've run out of ideas and pass on the movie. If that happens, it might do well, but not well enough to warrant a sequel.
This movie really shouldn't be compared to existing Star Trek productions, because it's not being made by the same people who made those. Instead, I'd compare it to J.J. Abrams productions, because he's the guy who's got final say on what happens in this movie.

Yall might call me crazy or whatever but I totally hated the movie. I didn't even want to see it in the first place. The only reason I saw it is cuz my dad wanted to take me. Personally I just thought it dumb, and lame. To be honest I almost fell asleep in the theater (twice) while the movie was playing.
But of course it was more aimed to those that are new to Star Trek and made to appeal to them and those that weren't all that interested in all things Trek in the first place. I don't know how many of you know people that all their life hated Star Trek but then suddenly liked it after watching this movie.
