History/Background/Education
Scouting has had a long tradition within the Hughes family, going back as far as the 20th Century. As such, when he was 10 years old, Christian Hughes, as the youngest of three children, joined the 2nd Cambridge Space Scouts (an evolution of Sea Scouts in which small starships are operated by groups of Scouts under guidance from retired Starfleet Officers). He showed himself to have both a talent and a taste for a Starfleet career, and after rising to lead a ship (with accompanying staff members), he decided to pursue a Starfleet Career.
Entering into Starfleet Academy with a special arrangement for Scouting members, Chris completed his training in not the customary four, but three years, and thus had achieved the rank of Ensign by the age of 20 rather than 21 (starting at 17). In addition, he qualified for specialist classes in the Operations and Command Schools, for indeed he showed a talent for it.
After serving on several starships as Operations Officer and heading up the Operations Division on a smaller starship, Hughes was transfered to the USS Orion as Chief of Operations and Second Officer aboard the ship, holding the rank of Lieutenant-Commander.
With the loss of Commander McNight, Christian Hughes we promoted to full Commander and First Officer of the Orion.
It does not need to be super long or very complex.
Personality Profile:
Christian is a good-natured but introvert man due to his Asperger's Syndrome, eager to help people but not quick to seek people out for a chat. However, once acquainted he is kind, helpful and friendly, and remains true to his friends in times of need. He feels a deep responsibility, not only to those serving under him but also to those superior to him. If he makes a mistake, he is often the first to have regrets about it. Despite his high abilities and potential, Chris is uncertain of himself and fears failure the most of all.
If anything, Chris could be described as a studious man. He loves reading (the more, the better), studying and the like, and has an unmatched curiosity. He loves to explore and have adventures. He also writes, particularly fiction and poetry, which is often in a characteristic creative style.
Due to his Asperger's, Chris also has problems with planning and organisation. He needs order but is not likely to create it himself in his personal life. His professional life is well-orderly and usually entirely in accordance with ship shifts and starfleet regulations. His quarters are usually a mess, and although at times he doesn't like it, deep down he is glad his sister makes sure his personal life and his quarters are tidy. Chris can panic when sudden changes occur that mess up his planning.

Role-Play Sample:
"Good heavens, Chris, why can't you tidy up your quarters yourself?" exclaimed Marion, definitely not pleased with the state of his quarters. "If I were not here, you'd probably forget your shift too!" That latter statement, thought Chris, was probably not true. Shifts, after all, were regularly scheduled (except for Red Alert situations). Quarters needn't be regularly tidied, at least not for him. "I can work in this mess," he simply said.
Marion was not pleased to hear that at all. As she visibly boiled to the cooking point, Christian's sister took a deep breath and exclaimed: "Well, you don't think I'd..." // Lieutenant Hughes to the Bridge // came the voice of Captain Stargazer through the combadge. Marion stopped dead as Christian excused himself because "duty called" and hurried to the bridge, glad to be saved by the bell from yet another row with his sister.
