Name: Lisa Huygens (full name: Elise Jolanda Huygens)
Preferred Rank: Lieutenant, Junior Grade
(Ranks can be changed by Admin or Moderators if need be.)
Position: Assistant Chief Science Officer
Please specify specialty within field if needed.
Species: Human
Age: 25
Physical Description:
Lisa looks a little young for her age; she is remarkably pretty (some would say beautiful), with an elegant and sophisticated look. Her light curls are a light brown, falling to her shoulders when worn loose; sometimes, she wears her hair in a tail as well. Her skin is smooth and light-coloured but for a few freckles which she never cares to conceal, for Lisa wears little makeup: she doesn't care for such things. She turns red rather quickly, however, when it's warm or when she is particularly emotional. Her eyes are a light blue with a hint of green, deep. Her posture is slender and she is of average height. Lisa has a beautiful smile that reveals a slight gap between her two front teeth, one of the imperfections that make her more, rather than less pretty.
Height, weight, hair color, eye color, any distinguishing features.

History/Background/Education
Originating from a famed family of astronomists, Lisa Huygens is a more or less direct descendant of Christiaan Huygens, the Dutch inventor. Having been educated at a private school, Lisa led a quiet, academic life, studying a few years at Leiden University in astronomy until she decided to join Starfleet Academy and graduated faster in the Science Division due to her University education.
Lisa's fast rise through the ranks at Starfleet was accomplished through numerous discoveries on small vessels, and she has quickly moved on from one vessel in the Alpha Quadrant to the next. The Orion is her first long-term posting, where her scientific skills and keen mind will be needed in the Assistant Chief Science Officer for a voyage into the unknown Delta Quadrant.
It does not need to be super long or very complex.
Personality Profile:
Lisa is a very civil, well-mannered and thoughtful person. She is, as you may suspect, first and foremost of the academic type, but she also has quite a lot of spirit in her. For her, study comes naturally most of the time, and you'll find her doing things out of her own initiative, making her quite an outstanding Science Officer. She can stay up beyond her shift and even forget herself when researching.
Lisa is a very sympathetic personality to her friends, and is always there to help, always putting friends above science, though not in dereliction of regulations. Not that this goes without argument of course- she will always be on the lookout for her friends so that they "do what is right" and "don't get into trouble". When they don't listen, she will insist that they do things getting into trouble, they do things right and in a safe manner, without getting the ship blown up. She likes an experiment, though, if she can't figure things out in other matters: her curiosity makes her welcome such things, after thinking it through. A challenge is something Lisa welcomes.
Sometimes, Lisa makes a decision based on rational, calculated daring. That is, if she is determined to do something, or told to do it, then she will start planning it out to have it executed, through good and bad. When Lisa sets her mind to a thing, it's going to happen, and she's going to minimise the danger if there is any. When she takes risks, she always calculates them, and there has to be a great exception if she doesn't.
Lisa's great example as an Officer is Captain Jean-Luc Picard, who epitomised the ideal Starfleet Officer to her: a lust for exploration and finding new knowledge, but with a deep responsibility for his crew. Unlike Picard, as Assistant CSO she likes to keep in touch with those working under her, and with her colleagues. The Delta Quadrant fascinates her, and having read all there is to know about the anomalies discovered by Voyager, she is determined to unravelling the mysteries of the unexplored Quadrant.
She has a special relationship with Christian Hughes, who she knows from her earlier assignment to USS Beagle, the science vessel sent out to figure out an anomaly in the Delta Quadrant and Lisa's longest assignment until now. Christian trusts her completely, and she helps Christian with his personal problems, often calling him by his first-name (but seldom on duty). The two have a sense of attachment to eachother and share many inside jokes.
Other Personal Details:
- Lisa keeps a hand-written personal diary with her on board the Orion, in which she writes of her personal and scientific activities.
- Lisa and Christian know eachother from a prior mission, and will be very good friends from the start.

Role-Play Sample: Please post a 1-3 paragraph role-play sample as your character. It can be about anything you want.
Lisa knew that Christian was probably pleased with the outcome of firing a quantum torpedo at the enemy, and even more that they now knew more about their status. She had been following the happenings on the Bridge ever since she spotted the ship with a growing sense of mixed wonder and a little nervousness. When Crewman Chan requested her assistance, Lisa didn't bother to wait until Christian asked her. "I'll be coming over to your station then, Ms. Chan," she said, leaving Science to a Junior Officer.
The Assistant Chief Science Officer began to think on the challenge now before her: how to make the dark matter of use against the enemy. She, too, had seen the readings of the ignition of the dark matter by the quantum torpedo. However, she did not think they had enough quantum torpedos to keep them burning: rigging one up was a process she'd rather not inflict on Science and Engineering in record time again, and certainly not routinely. There had to be another way.
"It's a bit cruel..." she said, wondering to herself. Igniting the dark matter around the ship had certainly damaged their port shields to 50% of intensity... if they could create an ignition around the ship, they would fry in an almost inhumane manner, something which filled her with apprehension that showed as she continued her sentence after an awkward silence. "... they would fry, but..." she continued. "You know more about weapons than I do, Ms. Chan: do you think we could possibly send another quantum torpedo to ignite the dark matter, then keep it burning by continued phaser fire?" She checked mentally whether the burning components were there: heat, burning material (or matter in this case). All check, now to see if Ms. Chan would come up with it.
