The lift stopped at deck six, and Xena stepped out. She still had Hector by the upper arm before. She walked with him silently until the reached her quarters. She thrust him through those doors as well; just like with the turbolift.
Xena's quarters was mostly colored in crimson or rustic colors. There were a few weapons that hung on the wall. Picture of her and her parents on the table. Two vases filled with red and yellow roses, and one center piece on the coffee table with tiger lilies. Some of it might have been a little unexpected.
"Sit on the sofa." Xena pointed and instructed as if speaking to a dog.

Hector noted that they were heading for distinctly the wrong deck when they entered the lift, but elected not to point it out. He was curious to see what she was doing, and why -- he had no idea her personal quarters were on deck six, but he was interested to know what was.
"You can let me go, you know," he said, with a smirk. "Someone told you I was a big, bad man, then. Reports about me, eh? Sounds like you spend plenty of time thinking about what I'm doing. It's all right. You can't be blamed for wanting to meet me. It's only natural."
He was treading in dangerous water and somehow he knew it, but this was practically what he lived for. If he could be contrary and irritating, he most certainly would do it. He was cocky and full of himself until she marched him directly into her private quarters.
Hector wasn't accustomed to this level of openness. He would never have felt comfortable introducing an opponent into his private domain, there was too much ammunition there to be used against him. His gaze swept the room and took in everything -- the weapons he had expected. The colour scheme he hadn't considered, but it suited her, he supposed. The flowers and the family pictures were anomalies. He knitted his brow and did not follow her orders to sit on the sofa.
He remained standing, and looked at her quizzically. "For a woman so adamant I follow procedure that she arrested me for choosing not to open a door, this is a little hypocritical, don't you think?"

Xena simply stared at Hector icily. Her blue eyes looking as if they could and would pierce through him like a sharp blade. Looks could kill, more so that words actually. Xena was not about to reply with a comment of any sort as she knew that was what he wanted. Xena was not going to do that. If possible though, she would like to scare the crap out of him.
"For a woman so adamant I follow procedure that she arrested me for choosing not to open a door, this is a little hypocritical, don't you think?"
"Ya know, I don't recall ever putting you under arrest. Just escorting you out of the shuttle bay." Xena put a hand to her chest. "I certainly never said 'you are under arrest'." She smirked. "I just let you think it." Xena then narrowed her eyes and pointed to the sofa again. "Sit. Before I make you."

"Why don't you try asking me nicely?"
'Scared' was not the word for it, exactly. Hector found her intimidating, but he didn't know why yet. It was abundantly clear she was physically stronger than him, but he had never had much of a sense of self-preservation in that respect. Either way, his response to feeling intimidated was unfortunately never to back down -- in fact, the more concerned about it he was, the more reckless with his personal safety he became.
He was the small boy screaming insults at bullies twice his size who outnumbered him completely. Besides which, he was a rank above her -- he could order her to go back to her duties if he had to. It was a trump card he was saving for last.

Xena walked over, and led Hector to the sofa. She gave him a push. "Sit. Please." That was as polite as she was going to be about it; for now at least. Xena also knew he out ranked her, however there was a protocol that she could pull on him to where he'd have no choice except to obey her. Reading protocols and security manuals so much you were bound to find loopholes.
"Would you like something to drink?" Xena asked as she got herself some mango juice. No drinking on duty. That meant not Klingon martini. She'd wait for his answer then get or not get depending on if she got a yes or no, then she'd sit down next to him and well... talk?

Oh, she had him then. Now he was itching with curiosity about her, and what she was doing. Anybody else in his position would have been put out by the disrespect, but Hector had never had much respect of his own for the chain of command -- he wanted respect he'd earned, anything else was ill-received anyway. She prodded him to encourage him to sit, and he glanced down at her hand, wheels turning in his mind.
He sat down, folding his long legs and drumming his fingers on his knees, eyebrow raised. Somehow he felt all the more lanky and skinny in her presence -- she was solid and healthily built, Hector had always been more willowy. His face was young, though, and his cheeky smile tended to take him far enough. He had the distinct impression that he would never be man enough for this woman, though.
"Would you like something to drink?"
Full of surprises.
"No thank you," he said, watching her suspiciously. "Would you like to tell me what's going on?"

No. Alright. Xena took a sip of her drink as she looked down at Hector. At this particular moment she wished she were a Betazoid. It would make things a whole lot easier, but then again, not nearly as much fun. Xena placed her drink down on the table then sat down next to Hector. "I just thought we might talk..." Xena said coyly as she waled her fingers up his arm. "perhaps about what led you here and not the brig." Xena finished with a light tap on the end of his nose. He said I didn't have to arrest him to touch.

Hector was perplexed. Oh, she was gorgeous, and he most certainly didn't object to being pawed at -- but he preferred her when she was giving him what for, he said provocative things so that she would rise to him and challenge him back. This new found seductiveness was not a part of his game plan, and he was in two minds about it.
At a very basic, male level he was thrilled. And tempted. So very tempted. Unfortunately Hector was rarely basic. This new behaviour wasn't something he'd brought out in her. It wasn't something he'd earned, particularly, and so he didn't want it.
Besides which, something else had been bothering him. His gaze dropped to her finger as it worked its way up his arm, and he crossed his eyes to look at it on the tip of his nose, just briefly. When she took her hand back he raised his eyebrows and looked her directly in the eye.
"I just thought we might talk... perhaps about what led you here and not the brig."
"You don't think I'm a genius," he said.

"You don't think I'm a genius,"
"No." Xena said plainly. "You've done nothing to show me you are a genius. Hence why I used the word 'alleged' earlier." Plain and simple. If that was not plain and simple enough then frankly Xena didn't know what would be more so. "You'd at least think a 'genius' would know how to stay out of trouble. Avoid security, avoid reprimands, contradict Vulcan logic with enough logic to get a Vulcan to question his own logic, know how to open a shuttle bay door that had been sealed..."
Xena ran her index finger across his jawline. There was something about Hector that Xena did find interesting, and somewhat attractive; however she knew not what it was. Maybe it was because he tried to get under her skin or in one way challenge her. It was quite a million piece puzzle.
"Shall I continue?"

"You say that as though heightened intelligence removes human error. Tell me this, does an expert violinist have to choose to play music instead of listening to it? Intelligence is not only about complicated technological feats, Lieutenant. I chose the quickest route out from inside that shuttle-bay. Seems intelligent enough to me -- besides which... I hardly think I did anything worthy of a visit from security. Had I known that as a team you were inclined to overreact so magnificently I might well have acted differently."
Although he would probably have gotten into more trouble, if he was honest. The trouble with genius is that routine and protocol very swiftly become incredibly dull. He caught her wrist as she touched his face again, his hand gentle but firm, and narrowed his eyes a little. His ego had taken a mighty bruising.
"And I know you're trying to play me. What was it you called me earlier? Scum? I think you're bluffing. If I wasn't a potential threat we wouldn't be sitting here now. If you want to humiliate me you're going to have to work harder than that."
He didn't let her go, though his grip was loose enough that she could tug away from him with minimal effort if she so chose. The heat under his hand was incredible, but he ignored his baser instinct on the subject. She was winding him up, pure and simple, and he wasn't going to let it go on.

"Why would someone who never listened to music choose to be an expert violinist? They would not know what one sounded like or able to be intrigued enough to try their hand at it. And if heightened intelligence removed Human error then the word 'reckless' would not appear in your file over four hundred times." Quickest route? Xena lightly smirked.
"Actually the quickest route would have been a site to site transport, but you didn't even try that." Xena didn't know whether or not to sound smug or disappointed in saying that. She did rather expect people to live up to their files, names, and reputations they made for themselves; otherwise why bother making them?
"Potential threat?" Xena lightly laughed. "Standing I could knock you out three moves or less. Sitting, like this, only takes one." Yes. She had called him scum. He had her there. However; "Maybe I changed my mind. Being a woman, an all. Or are you not even smart enough to come to that conclusion?" Whoever said anything about humiliation?
Xena repositioned herself on the sofa, sitting on her knees. She simply stared at Hector in silence for a minute or two before firmly grabbing Romilly by the shoulders and pushing him down, leaning in, giving him a rather strong kiss.

And if heightened intelligence removed Human error then the word 'reckless' would not appear in your file over four hundred times."
"You miss my point entirely. I didn't mean someone who had never listened to music -- I was just pointing out that being a musician doesn't mean you can't listen instead of playing. Likewise, a technical genius does not always need to take things apart. This is a matter of curiosity; I know how the blasted door works, I don't have any interest in besting it because I know I can."
He was beginning to find her irritating, in an infuriatingly flirtatious sort of way. She had taken a good look at his personnel file, then. She may claim not to be interested in him, but she certainly was showing otherwise.
"Actually the quickest route would have been a site to site transport, but you didn't even try that."
Hector snorted. "And bring three angry security officers down from on high? Surely not."
"Potential threat?" She laughed. "Maybe I changed my mind. Being a woman, an all. Or are you not even smart enough to come to that conclusion?"
"My conclusion is to find your motives suspicious," he said honestly, eye-balling her. "Given your erratic behaviour I don't think that's unwise. You reacted as though I was a threat; if I was of such little consequence why would you drag me up here -- mph!"
Hector landed with his back against the arm of the sofa and his hands in the air as though she had body tackled him, which, he would later suppose, she had. In an instant her mouth was on his, and all sense of rhyme or reason he had about this situation was lost.
For a moment he was too stunned to do anything, but when it clicked that she was raising the stakes, he decided that two could play that game. He returned her kiss fervently, matching her blow for blow -- one hand snaked to the back of her head, his fingertips digging into her hair, whilst the other found the curve of her waist and roamed towards her hip greedily.
He didn't know what she was doing -- and he no longer cared.

None of this had exactly worked out like Xena had planned in her mind. It was quite clear that she possibly underestimated Hector. Perhaps she should have read his medical file as well. Might have given a better insight into his mind at the very least. Originally it was he was just a man and she was a woman. Now he was more interesting because he hadn't reacted the way most might have. That was a loop thrower. Generally Xena was the one to throw others for a loop.
She felt Hector kiss her back. Heck, who could miss that?! One hand in her hair. His other roaming downward. Xena was starting to have a little trouble concentrating. Man alive is he a good kisser! In that split second her mind clouded over and her better judgment was somewhat lost as Xena decided something hastily. I want him.
"I'm in security. We're suppose to treat everyone and thing as a potential threat." Xena whispered after she slowly pulled out of the kiss. "You're one to talk about erratic behavior!" Xena retorted before she leaned in and kissed him again.

"I'm known for it," Hector said incredulously, head swimming. Technically she was, if she was to be branded at all, the enemy. He'd never gotten along well with security personnel, but then he'd never encountered any just so alluring as this one. They did tangle magnificently well, though.
It seemed to hardly matter that they fundamentally disagreed on every single point they had ever discussed when their lips were locked together. Suddenly duelling with her took on an entirely new meaning; in conversation she was all strength and wit and argumentativeness, but she was soft and warm beneath his hands. Quite how she could be so forthright and tough one moment and sweet and feminine the next he might never understand.
If he had been suspicious of her before, any notion of it was lost. He met her lips willingly and eagerly the second time, any semblance of sensible thought long ago banished from his mind.
//Engineering to Lieutenant Commander Romilly.//
Blast it. It was the nasal sound of an engineering Ensign who had best hope he remained unnamed. Hector knew he had a good crew in Harper and Kortiegs, but there were others in Engineering he wouldn't have touched with a ten foot pole. This lad was plainly one of them. No initiative whatsoever. He was the reason Hector's comm badge had been in hydroponics to begin with.
Hector ripped the commbadge from his chest and tossed it blindly, only grimacing mildly when he heard it plop into one of the vases of flowers. There was the distant sound of gurgled bleeping and the message repeated.
Then Xena's commbadge flared into life, the ensign's snotty voice loud and clear from her chest:
//Engineering to Lieutenant Xena. We can't find Lieutenant Commander Romilly. Security logs indicate that he was detained with you almost twenty minutes ago. Did you release him?//

//Engineering to Lieutenant Commander Romilly.//
His badge went off. Of all the times and places! Had Xena known what they were going to be doing she might have deactivated the comm lines. Ignore it. Was the first thought that popped into her mind; which was very unlike Xena. He didn't answer, but tossed it...somewhere. After hearing the plop Xena knew exactly where. Far right corner of the living area. Yes. Xena paid attention to sounds, and she knew her quarters inside and out. How far or close everything was.
//Engineering to Lieutenant Xena. We can't find Lieutenant Commander Romilly. Security logs indicate that he was detained with you almost twenty minutes ago. Did you release him?//
"I better answer." Xena whispered in Herctor's ear. She knew someone would get suspicious. Xena tapped her badge to reply. "He'll be released momentarily." Xena said doing her best to keep her voice calm and even. "And stay out of the security logs. I don't go trampling through engineering logs. Xena out."
Xena sat fully on her knees again. "Some choice of words. 'Did you release him?'" Xena muttered to herself. "Well..." Xena pursed her lips together. "I guess you can be let off with a warning." Xena stood and went and fished out Hectors' badge. At least she didn't have a fish tank for it to have landed in. "Here." Xena took one of his hands, and slapped the badge into it.
