Now on the bridge, La'Mara walked over and leaned the the rail. She still could not believe it. Right as they were talking about the wormhole and possibly going throw, they get pulled in. What were the odds.
"Can you verify our position?" La'Mara asked the OPS officer. The first report had been from the helm. Sometimes they did not always match up with information, but if they did this time...
After a few seconds the OPS officer on duty said; "Confirmed. We are in the Delta Quadrant. The wormhole has also closed up, and is jumping around again."
"So much for the orders to find it." La'Mara walked round to where her chair was and sat in it. "Scan the area. Any vessels or anomalies around that might pose a threat?"
What a start for the first day on the job... La'Mara was still in a semi state of disbelief.

He was in right behind the Captain and took to his station. His fingers instantly light up the Helms console his fingers moving so swiftly, and deftly sliding and and typing it was almost magic to see him work. He looked up, and then he looked back at the Captain and gave a single nod. His attention then wen to the veiwscreen. And now he was as far away from that House as he thought he could be. A bitter chuckle came from him then, and there was certainly no hiding it, it was bitter.
The Delta Quadrant. Farthest reaches of space a man could reach by ship. According to reports from Captain Janeway there were not many friendlies here at all. So not only were they alone, but they were alone in a very hostile land. Perfect he thought, all we need to now is a visitation from that Q being and a crappy situation would go from green to red. He thought to himself this could have been such a more pleasant experience if he were not caught unawares and was not bleeding. It was not bad, every injury t the head seemed worse than it was when you were bald

The tactical officer on duty was about to reply with what his sensors were indicating when Mishtak followed the captain and helms commander to the bridge, he immediately approached tactical to relieve the ensign on duty, who gave him a quick briefing of his reports. Mishtak did not like what he saw...
"Captain, sensors are down to below ten percent and indicate we have lost main power to our shields and weapons are reduced to twenty-five percent and dropping."
If any of those reported un-friendlies were around here the Orion would not be much of a match at the moment.
"I am attempting to reroute axillary power for the time being but will need engineering to restore full power. The good news is that there appear to be no serious injuries reported."
He was not a happy Klingon, in fact most of what he said had come out in a slight growl or snarl. he did not like the feeling of helplessness or defenselessness he was currently feeling. The sub-stations and auxiliary power supplies seemed in tact, but it would still take him a few minutes to bring tactical controls and weapon systems back on line, his main priority was shields...

With the briefing over, Sharpay left the briefing room with the others, and went over to the engineering station on the bridge. She took her seat, and started tapping away. She listened to the others as they spoke, and at the same time went over the incoming engineering reports. Things did not look or sound too well. But...
"Captain, sensors are down to below ten percent and indicate we have lost main power to our shields and weapons are reduced to twenty-five percent and dropping." "I am attempting to reroute axillary power for the time being but will need engineering to restore full power. The good news is that there appear to be no serious injuries reported."
"Guess that means it's time for me to work my voodoo magic." Sharpay said as she smiled in Mishtak's direction. It was he who had first referred to her engineering skills as voodoo. It happened to be on their first mission together. The shuttle-craft. Shar would not forget. And if he ever forgot, well, she'd break something over his head...or something.
"If I reconnect..." Sharpay tapped away. "...with the..." She turned in her seat. "main defector...driver coils..." Sharpay had a look of concentration on her face. Deep concentration. "power relay...cross wire...things should be restored at least...eighty five percent..." A few more taps. "Now."
And as predicted...it was so.

"Captain, sensors are down to below ten percent and indicate we have lost main power to our shields and weapons are reduced to twenty-five percent and dropping."
"Captain, navigation seems unaffected. Maintaining speed at one quarter impulse, maintain current course of speed Captain?" Asked Larkin never taking his eyes off of his console nor his hands. He chuckled to himself when the young engineer made the comment about voodoo. Despite an otherwise stressful situation his voice was as calm as the Stars looked outside.
He wiped the blood away from his head with his hand as it had started to run into his eyes and that was something he could not abide. Vision was something that was required in his field. You lose that your career is over no matter how spectacular it was.

Commander Hughes raced onto the Bridge to take his seat in the command center next to Captain Tiho. Having been in a few emergency situations, he knew exactly what was required of him. "All stations, damage report!" he ordered over the comm to all departments. One by one, they reported minor damages, nothing major. Thank God.
Sharpay did a little of her 'voodoo'. Christian knew a little of those unconventional means of restoring power from his time at Ops. "Sensors showing anything now, Harold?" he asked Lieutenant Francis at Ops. Lieutenant Francis looked up from his console. "No vessels or anomalies in our immediate proximity, sir," he said. "I don't have a longer range. Shall I update you and the Captain when something comes up?"
"Make it so, Harold," Christian said, and looked at the Captain. "Captain, anything in particular we should do while we're here?"

Post by Lt. JG Lisa Huygens on Mar 18, 2011 3:39:56 GMT -5
As she emerged onto the Bridge and looked at the viewer, Lisa's surprise faded into a sense of wonder. Here they were, in the Delta Quadrant, the destination of their journey. All alone, they were on a mission to explore strange new worlds, to find new life and new civilisations. Despite it being not wholly their intention to do it so quickly, they had boldly gone were no man had gone before.
She stood at the door to the Briefing Room for a while, looking at the blackness of space on the viewer, her first view of the new quadrant. She was drawn to that expanse, and for a moment, all the damage reports on the Bridge went past her. Half a minute later, she made her way to Science. Let's see what our first findings will be, she thought.
Ensign Digby was at Science. Young and brilliant but a bit unsure of herself, Rose was frantically reviewing every piece of data she could get from the limited sensors. "Welcome to the Delta Quadrant, Ensign Digby," she said, light-heartedly, leaning on the console. "I trust you are enjoying yourself?" Rose looked up straight into the face of her superior officer. "Lieutenant!" she exclaimed with a measure of surprise. "I was just... er..." "Excited," said Lisa with a nod. "Though punching buttons won't help. Let's see if we can find out something about this Quadrant, together."
"Anything you want Science to look into, Captain?"

(OOC: Rose's RP sample fits right into this thread, in this place, so to avoid confusion later on I thought I'd post it even though she isn't approved yet, begging your pardon.)
A fairly uneventful shift on the Bridge did not exist in Rose Digby's dictionary. Even if they were just cruising along, her broad interest always gave the eager young science officer something to do, or more like: she gave herself something to do. Punching all the buttons on her console, she saw a lot of sensor information. She could lose herself in all that information. "Rose," came the somewhat irritated voice of Lieutenant Francis from Ops. "You're doing it again."
Ensign Digby snapped awake from her scientific daydreams, murmuring "oh, sorry" in a soft voice that Lieutenant Francis probably didn't hear. It wasn't too good on the consoles and the Bridge crew's concentration too, she knew, but it was a sort of tic and she couldn't help it. Here I am, a Starfleet Officer, she thought. And I act like a child in a sweetshop every time I am on Bridge duty. Her punches on the buttons just became silent taps, and she switched to the "spatial anomalies" view, expecting to see nothing. Suddenly, something stood out. It seemed like something dangerous to her, almost like a wormhole. Immediately, she alerted the officer of the watch to get the Captain out of the briefing.
Or at least she tried to alert the officer of the watch, but her nerves got the better of her and she could only stammer. "There's an.. er...," she started. "Anomaly. Looks like a wormhole. Perhaps, er... we should get the..." The ship shook wildly, and Rose was almost thrown of her feet. "Ouch," she said. "Captain," she finished her now obsolete sentence. The voice of Captain Tiho came over the comm now, asking what had happened. The conn officer answered: they were in the Delta Quadrant.
Her enthusiasm got the better of her, punching all the buttons at Science even though power was at 20% to the sensor array. One by one, the Senior Staff came dashing out of the briefing room, and took control of the Bridge. Ensign Harper fixed the power, much to Rose's delight, and she wanted to be the first to get the data on the Delta Quadrant. Caught up in her curiosity, she did not notice that Lisa Huygens had come up to her station until she said: "Welcome to the Delta Quadrant, Ensign Digby. I trust you are enjoying yourself?"
Rose stammered. "I was just, er...," she started, noting her encounters with Lisa that day as being not entirely positive. Lisa, however, surprisingly, gave her a reassuring smile and nod, and told her she was excited. "Though punching buttons won't help," she told her. "Let's see if we can find something out about the Delta Quadrant together."
More at ease now, Rose relaxed and softly said: "Alright."

Reports started coming in from everywhere. It was like an endless wave crashing against a rock in its path. Pouring over it just a little. Thankfully she had a first officer, and others that knew what they were suppose to be doing and did it. This new command had hardly went as planned, then again, nothing much does go as planned. It might help though if you started thinking of yourself as a captain and not a commander... Wake up call much?!
"Seeing as we are not in immediate danger, while repairs are being done I'd like 'science' to go down to astrometrics, and see what data those sensors recorded since they are suppose to be more sensitive, and scan a longer range than our regular long range scanners." That should help some. "See if there are any inhabited planets around."
La'Mara looked at Ensign Harper. "You better get down to engineering. Help with further repairs and keep me updated." No. That was not everyone. "Helm, second star to the right, full impulse. And please turn off the view screen." Tiho said with a quick point to the screen. Things were certainly different from the Nova class.
Everyone had their orders...so it seemed.
La'Mara looked to Commander Hughes, and signaled him to come to the ready room.

Captain Tiho handled herself well under pressure, Christian saw, and he admired his new Captain for it. He cast a glance over his shoulder and grinned at Lisa as she 'welcomed' Ensign Digby to the Delta Quadrant. She returned his smile. Still, Captain Tiho and himself had to get themselves a working relationship: she couldn't trust him with things implicitly until they found a modus operandi.
He nodded as Captain Tiho motioned him to the Ready Room. There was one thing she'd forgotten and Chris jumped into the gap effortlessly: giving the Second Officer the Bridge. "Lieutenant Mishtak," he said. "You have the Bridge." Then he followed the Captain into the Ready Room.
End Christian- Move to Ready Room.

"Helm, second star to the right, full impulse. And please turn off the view screen."
"Aye Captain, second star on the right full impulse." He repeated her order back. It was odd having a new Captain. she did fine though, and that is what mattered. She kept her cool and was able to delegate expertly.
Larkin got the ship moving with a fluidic sweep of his hand across the helm control. He looked over over at Ackron and said: "Lets show the assembly how a ship is flown" He said to his fellow helmsman.

It sounded as if Captain Tiho was under stress and that was probably why she called Lisa 'science' as if she didn't totally approve of her speaking for her Department. Lisa could understand, as she also knew the Captain had been pleasantly surprised about her keen mind at the briefing.
One of them had to go down. That wasn't her intention (as she wanted to reassure Rose a bit), but those were her orders. Helping out at the Astrometrics array was not a difficult task: perhaps if Rose were to succeed at that, she might gain a little more faith in herself. Besides, she could assist here and oversee Science from the Bridge. Last of all, it was kind of selfish. Being on the Bridge in a new, unknown environment was just exciting.
"Rose," she said to the young Ensign with a smile. "Do you think you can handle Astrometrics on your own?"

It seemed like even Lieutenant Huygens was not beyond the rebuke of the Captain, who sounded as if she didn't approve of the Assistant Chief asking orders for the whole department. It made Rose a little nervous around Captain Tiho's orders, not wishing to step on the toes of the Commanding Officer. I can call her Snappin' Spotty all I want, she thought, but if she snaps at me, it will be my fault.
When Lisa asked her if she would go and see to Astrometrics, Rose could almost imagine what would happen if the Captain disapproved of the way she handled things down there. "Er..." she said to her superior officer. "I don't know if I..." She paused. "Well..."

"Rose," she said to the young Ensign with a smile. "Do you think you can handle Astrometrics on your own?"
Lt.Commander Larkin swiveled around in his chair to to see the answer the young ensign would give. He must of looked a tad frighting however as his wound on his head was still bleeding and he was smiling or even looked the most remotely friendly in any way. He blinked his left eye a little more rapidly as a trickle of blood dripped into his eye and he made another annoyed sweep by his head with his hand to rid himself of the blood. As was his custom he looked the Ensign right in the eyes. His looked so sad, it was enough to make a person want to weep.

There Rose's lack of self-confidence was again. Lisa sighed inwardly at Rose's lack of trust in her own abilities, not understanding why she depreciated herself like this. You're probably one of the most gifted Science Officers of your rank in Starfleet at the moment, she thought. You passed the Academy with first-class honours at a young age. Why do you insist that you're not up to your duties?
She put on a half-friendly, half-annoyed grin. "That was not a question, Rose," she said. She motioned towards the turbolift. "Come on, they need your help down there." She had wanted to say something about her passing the Academy so well but she didn't think that would be wise. It might make her feel even more under pressure to prove herself.
