"That is indeed what I had just stated Mister O' Conner. Golf is a game based on numerical quantities. If I did not know any better I would surmise that you were trying to play some sort of a mental game with me. To do so would be illogical, I am a Vulcan."
"Why? Don't Vulcans believe in testing limits; mental or otherwise? Isn't there always room for improvement?" Seriously. Ah well.
Shawn then went onto explain The Twilight Zone is as much detail as possible. Hopefully it had been 'sufficient' information. Shawn was very tempted to laugh at the 'gum' and 'righteous dude' parts of the conversation, but somehow managed to hold it all in and just laugh inside. Suroc was interesting. And the lesson was going to start now. Shawn blew a bubble.
"Then let us venture to the holodecks."
"Okay, teach."
End Shawn - Move to Holodeck.

Suroc once more made his way into his office. He looked around admiring the many bladed weapons in her as well as the sheer beauty of the architecture which only complimented the lethal look of the room. While everything looked deadly or beautiful, the atmosphere was still somehow relaxing. Suroc walked over to spot on his wall that was missing the short sword and placed the weapon back into its place.
After placing the weapon back on the wall where it belonged when not in use, Suroc made his way once more to behind his desk and into his chair and sat down exactly like he was before. In fact if you were to do a comparison you would not be able to tell he moved at all. So there he waited for a member of the crew to come in or for him to be contacted.

"Computer locate Commander Suroc."
Commander Suroc is in his office.
With that answer Xena made a quick trek to his office. When she arrived, Xena stood outside the door for a few minutes contemplating her decision. After a few more minutes she finally hit the chime to alert Suroc that someone was outside. This has to be the most ridiculous decision ever.

"Enter" was the reply muffled through the now parting doors. As the doors parted Xena found out that every rumor regarding Suroc, at least as far as his weapons collection went was absolutely true. Some how the weapons and the Vulcan architecture really seemed to compliment one another. He looked at Xena and gestured for her to enter.
"Lieutenant Xena, welcome to my office. What is it that I may do for you? Have you come here to to ease the stress of the mind as your training eases the stress of your body? Have you come to talk. Tell me what is on your mind and I shall help you however I am able." Suroc said in that matter of fact-no-emotion way that Vulcans do.

Upon hearing the words enter Xena stepped through the doors. She saw the weapons, and was not surprised. Assistant chief of security she knew all about it. They had to be signed and inventoried. Granted that it was Lieutenant Mishtak that had been the one to do the 'check', Xena had done a double. Hey, couldn't hurt.
For a Vulcan he sure talks a lot. Xena couldn't help but think. She was expecting something more along the lines of 'come. sit. do you wish to talk?' Or something even more cut and dry.
"Actually," Xena began. How to word this... "first I think I'd like to be assured that no one else will know what I am going to say." Xena didn't want people poking their noses about where they did not belong. She also hated 'I heard it through the grapevine' stuff.
She started to pace again as she thought of what exactly to say.

Suroc watched her pacing, not moving his head, but followed her wit his eyes. After a moment he gestured to a chair in front of his desk. It looked comfortable enough. As Suroc gestured to the chair his arm was steady, not a single tremble.
"Come. Sit. You are coming to me as a client, a patient. Nothing you tell me will be spoken of to anyone but yourself and I. It would be illogical to add to a rumor mill when something was told to another in confidence, and that is where it shall stay. Now, what troubles you Lieutenant?" Suroc asked now getting down to the crux of the matter after reassuring her that what ever she said was going to stay between the two of them.

"Well..." Xena said a little hesitant as she stopped pacing. She then took a breath and released it. "alright." She then sat down in the chair that had been gestured to. This was not at all easy for her to do or say. Xena had really only confided in two people her whole life; one had been a good friend where she had been born, the other had been a woman named Tressa who cared for her when Xena left the colony.
"You know how it goes; girl meets boy, boy meets girl. They argue, hate each other, kiss, still hate each other, but girl can't stop thinking about boy, nor help feeling complete when they are together; fighting then kissing. Or in Starfleet terms: Someone from engineering found something wrong which required security to go to the shuttle bay. An officer was apprehended. Apprehended officer and security argue, end up together after about ten to twenty minutes. Not long after have another 'encounter' in engineering."
Encounter was likely the best way to word it. At the moment anyhow. Xena took another breath, and stood from the chair, and once more started pacing back an forth.
"I can't concentrate, and it's bothering me to no end. How am I suppose to do my job with constant thought interruptions? And this person, he's...oh he's: irritating, infuriating, difficult, erratic, reckless, unpredictable, argumentative, careless, challenging, and perhaps a bit dangerous. And I'm not sure why exactly, but the actual truth to his question 'Why don't you just admit that you can't keep away from me?',"
Xena stopped pacing and faced Suroc. "I can't. For some reason I'm just automatically drawn to him. Almost like bar magnets. If you place two on the table on each end, north and south, when you let go they will just snap together. Or iron fillings that orientate in a magnetic field." Xena paused just a moment. "I was wondering if there was any way that might allow me to clear my head, so I can at least think clearly for a little while?"

"Sounds to me as if you have a very illogical love. But that is love is it not, it is unpredictable yet wonderful. Granted in most cases that I have documented less fighting tends to go on. You say discovered them in Engineering? Interesting. It could be that this is not love Xena but infatuation. You've found something new, something confrontational, it is a new obstacle for you to overcome. You should be mindful of such encounters, do not allow such passionate emotions to effect your duties." He said in what could only be described as emotionlessly understanding.

"Sounds to me like you are describing Lieutenant Commander Hector Romilly. If it is he in which you are talking to then I will tell no one. However you have to be aware of the potential self destructive nature a relationship would be with this man. But if you are content with him that is all that matters is it not? As for being unable to concentrate there are two things I can do for you I can give you a prescription that you will need to take to the staff in sickbay, or for a longer lasting fix I can mind meld with you giving you or bestowing upon you some of my own calm, however if you do so while you wont be emotionless you well be slightly more detached than usual. Those are your options, what will you choose to do?" Suroc said standing up and walking over to Xena and placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

Xena listened to what Suroc had to say. It didn't exactly help all that much, then again...it could be infatuation. Maybe. Xena hadn't exactly given men too much of a chance since she had been a teenager. She focused on tasks and such. Job. Learning. Sports. Could it be repressed emotions? Nah.
That's why I'm here. I don't want it to effect my duties.
"I thought you weren't going to tell anyone no matter who I was talking about." Xena arched a brow at Suroc. It had sounded like an implication; he would tell if it was not Lieutenant Commander Romilly.
Self destructive nature... "I don't him that well, but I would not be surprised if he had self destructive nature. He was in jail. This might sound a little strange," Xena bit her lower lip momentarily. I could do with another kiss...
"I'm rather attracted to what people call 'bad boys'. I'm not quite sure why...Maybe it's because they aren't intimidated by me..." It was a good as guess as any; especially for one that never thought about it before.
"Me being content with him isn't all that matters. You see, if he knows that, then my guess is his interest will be lost. So how he feels also matters. I've never seen a relationship work only one way. One sided."
Xena cringed at the thought of any medication. That would make things public, but she was not too keen about a mind meld either. She mulled the options over in her mind carefully. "If a mind meld was made, wouldn't you experience my emotions? The two becoming one mind thing..."
Xena's emotions were quite strong. Some even buried. There was a case where a Vulcan once melded with a Betazoid killer. The Betazoid ended up calm and centered while the Vulcan turned into a killer...or almost killer.
"What are the risks exactly to both of us? And how 'detached' would I become if we did mind meld?"

"I thought you weren't going to tell anyone no matter who I was talking about." Xena arched a brow at Suroc. It had sounded like an implication; he would tell if it was not Lieutenant Commander Romilly.
"I would not tell a soul on board this vessel, how ever besides me being your Counselor I am also your Commanding Officer. I would simply relieve you of duty until you were fit. However I do not think I need to do that. I am your Counselor first and foremost. Easy Xena, not all who wish to help you are Cardassian spies. Anything that you say, as I have already stated will be held in confidence." Suroc said flatly.
"I don't him that well, but I would not be surprised if he had self destructive nature. He was in jail. This might sound a little strange, I'm rather attracted to what people call 'bad boys'. I'm not quite sure why...Maybe it's because they aren't intimidated by me..."
"Do "bad boys" give you a thrill Xena? Does their rogue behavior make your eyes dilate, your heart quicken? How do they make you feel as opposed to the physical attraction. Have you always liked "bad boys" or did this fascination stem from an earlier romance from years past?" Suroc asked her, though she would probably consider it an interrogation given her personality profile.
"Me being content with him isn't all that matters. You see, if he knows that, then my guess is his interest will be lost. So how he feels also matters. I've never seen a relationship work only one way. One sided."
"That is the very meaning of pursuing courtship Xena. To find contentment in another being of like mindedness. If he is with you simply to relieve his boredom then what you have is illogical and will end with one or both parties hurt, in the case of Romilly, perhaps even physically. Xena I would council that you take things slow, perhaps using sub light engines. If you hasten things with Romilly to quickly, I fear that you Xena, will be left heart broken. Broken hearts take a very long time to heal, I have a patient that can attest to that." Suroc said giving her shoulder a comforting squeeze.
"If a mind meld was made, wouldn't you experience my emotions? The two becoming one mind thing..."
"That is a logical possibility. I do not believe that I would be over ran with your emotions, for however strong a terrans emotions are, a Vulcans is many times greater. It is why we keep ours buried deep, deep inside. Some few even manage to rid themselves of emotion completely by undergoing a ritual. I underwent this ritual but failed. I made it to the final lengths of the ritual but then grew angry, and since I grew so angry with my self I wept. Needless to say it was a very catastrophic failure on my part. What I am saying with out the anecdote is that I am better at controlling my emotions than even most Vulcans." Suroc said in the typical Vulcan manner. If he had ever felt anything it would be impossible to tell.
"What are the risks exactly to both of us? And how 'detached' would I become if we did mind meld?"
"It could be physically debilitating for both parties. The pressure changes could potentially aggravate existing conditions. The melding could also result in some loss of identity. Any after affects can be treated with the drug Lexorin. Further more when the link is established if this is something you wish to do we will essentially become one consciousness in two bodies it is a very....intimate thing." Suroc stopped to clear his throat, if he were a less logical creature he would have blushed. "As far as how detached you will become there will be fifty to seventy five percent variance as to the less emotional you will become, reason and logic will be more profound with you for forty eight hours is the longest I believe I could affect you for. Any longer beyond that safe zone it could become mortally dangerous for both parties." Suroc listed off the dangers then listed off the pros followed by a time window for how long it would last.

Technically that was not fully true. Suroc was a commander, and outranked her, however she did not answer to him. Xena answered to Lieutenant Mishtak. That's who her commanding officer was; not counting Captain Tiho or Commander Hughes. However, Suroc could relieve her of duty because of his medical career in Starfleet. Blast those regs.!
Treading on a more personal note: Bad boys. Suroc asked her how they made her feel. Dangerous waters. Especially digging into the past. Diving into 'none of your business'. "How am I suppose to know if my eyes, or rather pupils dilate? When you meet someone that makes you feel blissful your last thought is running to a mirror to check your eyes." Xena said, surprising with control as she took a somewhat defensive posture. "With all due respect, sir, I didn't come here to talk about my past."
If I find Hector is using me to get rid of any boredom I can guarantee it will hurt him more than me! I'll be showing him a one way trip to sickbay. Spared someones life before, don't know how I'd feel doing it a second time.
Xena was no pushover.
"Oh. I'm not a Terran." Xena corrected. "I know I look like a Terran, but I'm Angelan." Simple mistake. Another race that also got mistaken for Humans were Angosians. No big deal. Xena was rather used to the mix ups.
"You want to back up to that loss of identity part?" That literally gave Xena quite a scare. She liked to be in control. Complete control. The plain thought of possibly loosing the sense of self or identity was very terrifying. It just did not sit well.

"Oh. I'm not a Terran." Xena corrected. "I know I look like a Terran, but I'm Angelan."
"Indeed. I often confuse terrans with near human races such as your own. If any offense was made it was not my intention, and no offense but Terrans and near human look very similar to me as I am sure to other species all Vulcans look exactly alike. Though I do thank you for the clarification." Said Suroc in his emotionless voice.
"You want to back up to that loss of identity part?"
"I stated that that was a mere possibility, it is not guaranteed nor is it uncertain. It is Merely a risk. The Vulcan Mind Meld is a very power telepathic technique. There is much to consider when forming one with a member of a different species." Suroc was about to continue speaking as he had a tendency to do when Xena's combadge went off.
//"Bridge to Lt.Xena, report to tactical immediately."//
"It would appear that you are needed on the Bridge Lieutenant. Consider what I have said and tell me tomorrow when you have had time to....sleep on it. It would be logical to but fourth caution and thought behind a large decision like this. In the mean time if that is all." Suroc said, it was a very pleasant, but very clear dismissal.

Xena was simply listening and thinking as Suroc talked. What he had said was rather very true. In all things. Then suddenly he combadge chirped. Xena tapped it to reply. "I'm on my way." She then simply looked at Suroc and lightly smiled. "Thank you commander. I think I'll do that." Then as an after thought she added: "Have a nice day." With that Xena made her leave to the bridge.
