Suroc entered his office which was decorated in lovely Vulcan carvings and painting. He was also playing very softly in the background Vulcan symphonies. Vulcans had no emotions, yet you look at their works and you would wonder if it was all just a lie, an intergalactic joke.
If one were to look around his office you would think he was Vulcan dignitary as opposed to a ships Counselor. He heard many rumors about his private quarters. The thing is it was all true. With the amount of bladed weapons he had decorating his quarter he could let have of Qo'Nos come shop. He was skilled in the use of all of them, compliment to his former security training, after all he was grooming himself to be head of Starfleet Security.
Though that was simply not to be the case as at the last minute he decided to the past three decades pursuing his career as a Counselor. It was more humble work and he seemingly made a difference in a lot of peoples lives. He wondered if he would have any people come in today. Who knows, he had a previous discussion with Lt.Commander Romilly, maybe he will show up. then again maybe not.

Shawn stood outside of Suroc's office for a little while. He was still contemplating if he should ring the chime or not. He too had heard the rumors, and was curious about them. He also wondered who on the ship had been to see the head shrinker already that they might pass information along. After a little while longer Shawn hit the chime to alert the Vulcan that someone was outside.

Almost as fast as he had hit the chime than he heard the Vulcan's voice say enter. As the doors to the office opened he saw what appeared to be the room of an important dignitary with all the lavish decorations and architecture that was in here. Upon seeing who it was that past through his doors Suroc outstretched his hand and gestured to one of the seats that was in front of his desk. Suroc made his way to the replicator where he replicated a rare flavored Vulcan drink for Shawn.
He then made his way back to his desk and handed the young boy the drink. He sat down in his chair and clasped his hands together in his lap and brought his gaze down upon Shawn looking him in the eyes.
"Hello Mr.O'Connor, how may help you today? Need you advice, consultation? Or are you merely here to converse? Whatever brings you to my office, welcome Mr.O'Connor. I am Counselor Suroc. I believe you and I have met briefly in the shuttle bay where Lt.Commander Romilly was avoiding his duties. Speaking of duties I have been lead to believe that you have an illogical habit of making Securities duty frequently more difficult?" Suroc stated in that flat logical, emotionless way Vulcans spoke. He was accusing, merely commenting.

Shawn accepted the drink given him. Strangely he decided to take a little sip before putting it down on Suroc's desk. It was okay, but the weapons on the wall were more of interest to Shawn than anything else. "I just wanted to see if the rumors were true." Shawn went up to one of the walls and eyed the weapons carefully. "What'd you do? Rob the Klingons?" It was a rhetorical question of course. Oh security. "Someone has to keep them on their toes. Besides, do you really think any other fun way for me to see Xena or Mishtak? Both are very duty oriented."

"Indeed they are. As for robbing Klingons I can tell you that I have not, but be careful, they are all sharp. Theres even more in my quarters. And yes I see the question in your eyes, I do know how to use all of them. It is logical for a collector of Bladed weapons to know how to use them. Which then draws the mind to an old terran saying, "live by the sword, die by the sword" I had often wanted to pit my skill against Klingons as I am faster, stronger and more agile then they are, but that would be illogical as I would have such a superior advantage.
Rumors? What rumors? "Just what rumors have been going on about me? Do tell. I admit that I have a certain curiosity about this." He said as he leaned forward and once more clasped his hands together and watched Shawn admire all of his sharp hanging death.

"Do Vulcans and superior complexes always go hand in hand?" Shawn had yet to meet a Vulcan that didn't speak highly of themselves or their race. They might not know they come off that way, but it still was something to think about...maybe. Shawn picked up one of the swords without permission, and gave it a swing. It was small enough to do so in the closed environment. He might be young, but he was not stupid.
Alright...not stupid enough to do something as foolish as pick up a large sword and give it a swing, lodging it in something.
"Lots are going around about you and these weapons. I even heard one that you might be a Romulan spy. That is the coolest sounding one!"
"Why don't you schedule time with Lieutenant Mishtak to fight?"

"Do Vulcans and superior complexes always go hand in hand?"
"It is not a complex Mr.O'Connor. It is backed my logical fact, Vulcans are superior to many races. Yet I do not make any claim to be a better being for it than you, or any other being in this galaxy. Each person is unique in that they have aspects about them that make them so, for myself, it is mental discipline, and better physical attributes. Your self is gifted with quick with, a penchant for trouble, and a child like curiosity that makes you a wonderful human boy." Suroc said not ruffled in the slightest.
"Lots are going around about you and these weapons. I even heard one that you might be a Romulan spy. That is the coolest sounding one!"
"Tell me Mr.O'Connor, how do you know that I am not a Romulan spy, it is not beyond them to live among their enemies for many years gathering information. In fact I could be a member of the Romulan information corp the Tal'Shiar." Suroc said as joke but with out emotion or any facial expression it made it impossible to tell that he was joking.
"Why don't you schedule time with Lieutenant Mishtak to fight?"
"I would but he is often busy, and there is always the issue of earning a Klingons ire, and I would much prefer there be none between myself and my subordinates. Though I do wonder if he is skilled with a Bat'Leth. Its that large wicked looking sword to your right." He pointed out the aforementioned weapon.

"Thank you Commander Suroc." Shawn said with a smile, giving a theatrical bow when Surco said 'gifted with quick with, a penchant for trouble'. Hey, it sounded way better than how other people put it! And he didn't even sound annoyed. Which is was possible for Vulcans to get. Actually the only race that could claim women to be logical and children to be well behaved were the Vulcans. Go figure.
"You act too Vulcan to be a Romulan." Shawn replied simply. "Like in the shuttle bay, if you were a Romulan you would have at least flinched to try to keep your cool when you had words with Lieutenant Commander Romilly, who decided to make me his apprentice after you left." Out of the mouths of babes.
"I know. I'm usually the one that keeps his busy." Shawn paused in thought for just a moment. "Actually I have to give some credit of that to Ensign Harper. They're going together."

"Thank you Commander Suroc."
"Of course Mr.O'Conner. One can not put a price on civility. How do you like your drink, I have noted that you barely touched it? Vulcan meals and drinks tend to be bland, like many people assume Vulcans are. The drink I gave you though is one of our few flavored beverages. If you were of age I would have offered you Vulcan Brandy, seeing as how you are a child though that would be highly illogical."He said while gesturing to Shawns drink and what looked to be a highly incrypted safe behind him.
"You act too Vulcan to be a Romulan. Like in the shuttle bay, if you were a Romulan you would have at least flinched to try to keep your cool when you had words with Lieutenant Commander Romilly, who decided to make me his apprentice after you left."
"I will take that as a compliment. Though when I was a boy younger than you are now, I was waht you humans call a firebrand. I was very emotional and illogical, though I quickly conqured such things. As for not verbally attacking Mr.Romilly, that would not have been logical as he was attempting to goad me into a verbal altercation. He lives on strife you see, it fuels him in away. The best cure in this case would be to simply not give into the altercation he desired. He made you his apprentice? Well Mr.Romilly hopefully whatever duties you are given you take them a little more seriously, after all you never know when someones life is going to be in your hands." Suroc said still dead-pan faced.
"I know. I'm usually the one that keeps his busy. Actually I have to give some credit of that to Ensign Harper. They're going together."
"It seems undsireable to want Lieutenant Mishtak to chase you. He is not a man that I would want following me with the intent of time in the brig. Going together?" He sounded as if he was contemplating the meaning, he clearly did not understand. "Where are they going? Will they be back?" He asked the young boy that sat before him.

"It's fine. I'm just not real thirsty." Shawn turned the sword in his hand like a golf club. He used his imagation to hit gold balls into a far distance. "Four!"
"I will take that as a compliment. Though when I was a boy younger than you are now, I was what you humans call a firebrand. I was very emotional and illogical, though I quickly conqured such things. As for not verbally attacking Mister Romilly, that would not have been logical as he was attempting to goad me into a verbal altercation. He lives on strife you see, it fuels him in away. Well Mister Romilly hopefully whatever duties you are given you take them a little more seriously, after all you never know when someones life is going to be in your hands."
"Yeah I never got that part." Shaw stopped playing gold with the sword and looked up at Suroc. "If you're born with emotions why do you get rid of them? Is it logical to deny yourself feeling that come with birth?" It didn't seem very logical. Didn't doing that go against nature?
"It seems undsireable to want Lieutenant Mishtak to chase you. He is not a man that I would want following me with the intent of time in the brig. Going together?" He sounded as if he was contemplating the meaning, he clearly did not understand. "Where are they going? Will they be back?"
"Lieutenant Mishtak and Ensign Harper didn't leave. They are going together; a couple. I think they might be in love, but you can never be too sure what Ensign Harper is thinking. She can be unpredictable with her emotions." Shawn shrugged. "Mishtak is cool."
"Can you teach me how to use this thing?"

"It's fine. I'm just not real thirsty. Four!"
"Indeed, well it is there should you require your thirst to be quenced." As shawn mimed golfing and said four Suroc raised an eyebrow in question. "Four? Four of what Mr.O'Conner? You and I are the only one in here." He said not knowing what golf is. Silly Vulcan, golf is for terrans.
"Yeah I never got that part. If you're born with emotions why do you get rid of them? Is it logical to deny yourself feeling that come with birth?"
"We get rid of them at such a young age because when one makes a decision based on a sudden influx of strong emotion such as fear or anger, they often make illogical decisions, and lives are lost. So the Vulcan people long ago gave up their emotions for reason and logic and the Vulcans have lived long and prospered. That was a joke just now, was it humerous?" He asked in regards to his live long and prosper pun.
"Lieutenant Mishtak and Ensign Harper didn't leave. They are going together; a couple. I think they might be in love, but you can never be too sure what Ensign Harper is thinking. She can be unpredictable with her emotions."
"I see. You mean they are courting one another in the hopes that it will lead to something more substantial and procreate? I see." Suroc pictures in his mind a baby looking like both Mistak and Sharpay. He then nods, probably the closest he'll get to laughing.
"That would be humerous, a Klingon with blonde hair, and soft human features yet the fierce head ridges of a Klingon. Yes quite humerous indeed, I do not often meet bispecies beings, at least not ones that are so disticnt. Betazoid and human and Bolian and human are the most common. To a lesser degree is is Vulcan and human. Yes they do exist."
"Can you teach me how to use this thing?"
"If you are serious, then yes I will teach you. However you need to know that if I teach you it will require hard training, and mental discipline. For weilding any weapon requires more than just physical strength. IF you believe Mr.O'Conner that that is something you can handle, then I will take you on as a pupil." Suroc stated as he looked at shawn brandishing a human short sword from their eleventh century.

"Four? Four of what Mr. O' Conner? You and I are the only one in here."
"Oh." Shawn looked up at Suroc. "When people play golf they always say four." Shawn lightly shrugged with one shoulder. "I don't know why, but they do." If Shawn cared to know why he would have looked it up or asked someone or something. Really he was not interested in golf. Just like goofing around and having fun. Sometimes he was serious. At least so far he managed to keep his promise to Lieutenant Xena.
A joke? Shaw stood on the chair and put a hand on Suroc's shoulder. "When you tell a joke you aren't suppose to tell people it's a joke because then it take away the funny."
"If they had a baby I don't think the baby in question would have blonde hair. I'm not sure why, but even when both parents are Human the blonde hair is the recessive gene. Brown and black tend to be the dominate genes." Shawn pondered a bit. "How come when people are half Human they don't call themselves Human? I don't know if you've noticed, but most of them say they are Betazoid, Klingon, Bolian, and so forth and so on. Why is it like that?"
"Spock was one righteous dude!" Shawn hopped down from the chair.
"Okay teach. When do we start?"

"When people play golf they always say four. I don't know why, but they do."
"Intriguing. Four. I see. Is golf a game based on numerical quantities?" Asked Suroc with an almost child like anticipation of what was to be said about this game. Human ways were mostly a mystery to him, he new a few customs. He knew wedding customs ironically. He himself had no mate, to young to do so, or to busy. Either way taking on a mate at this juncture in his life would be illogical.
"When you tell a joke you aren't suppose to tell people it's a joke because then it take away the funny."
"Well I have discovered in the four hundred and seventy two times I have told a joke, I have had to explain them to the recipient four hundred and sixteen times. It would appear that I can not grasp humor. Yet people tell me that I am humorous for a Vulcan." Suroc stated matter of factually.
"If they had a baby I don't think the baby in question would have blond hair. I'm not sure why, but even when both parents are Human the blond hair is the recessive gene. Brown and black tend to be the dominate genes. How come when people are half Human they don't call themselves Human? I don't know if you've noticed, but most of them say they are Betazoid, Klingon, Bolian, and so forth and so on. Why is it like that?"
"Mr.O'Connor, I am well aware of how genetics work. That was another attempt at humor, and another situation of me having to explain it as such. It was no fabrication when I said I do not grasp humor. I keep trying though, perhaps one of these days I will tell a joke and people will laugh and catch the punch line immediately.
As far as bi-species aliens that are half human, there can be many reasons why they embrace their alien half over their human half. Humans are the most basic looking species in the galaxy in accordance to many other species. Humans by their very nature tend to lean towards the unknown, or the exotic. Or perhaps it is shame for humans violent past and rise through out their history. The reasons are as myriad as the stars we travel to."
"Spock was one righteous dude!"
"Ambassador Spock is indeed one righteous dude. Would you like to see something uncanny?" Suroc asks as he types on his screen and turns it around and their is a picture of Spock when her served with Captain James Tiberius Kirk. Suroc gestures to his face, then back to Spock's.
"For over thirty years I have been told by aliens and my own people that I have an uncanny likeness to Spock. What do you think Mr.O'Connor?" Suroc asked intrigued by what his answer would be.
"Okay teach. When do we start?"
"Teach? An abbreviated form of the noun teacher? Most Vulcans whom take on an apprentice in such away have their pupils call them Master. You may do so if you wish, but Suroc will be just as logical. And Mr.O'Connor we can start when ever you are ready." Suroc said standing up.

"Intriguing. Four. I see. Is golf a game based on numerical quantities?"
"Actually I think it might be based on a lot of numbers in scoring." Shawn grinned after he said that. Was that not what Suroc had just asked about the game? Shawn thought it might be a little fun to play a small mind game with Commander Suroc. Then again...ah never mind.
"Who was the person you didn't have to explain humor to?" Shawn was right curious on who had gotten Suroc's joke or humor or whatever. "Who would have that kind of mind?" Shawn scratched his head in thought; not that he thought about it for a long time.
"Ambassador Spock is indeed one righteous dude. Would you like to see something uncanny?"
Shawn hopped over to where Suroc turned the monitor on. It was way uncanny!
"For over thirty years I have been told by aliens and my own people that I have an uncanny likeness to Spock. What do you think Mister O' Connor?"
"Totally Twilight Zone." Shawn pulled out some gum from his pocket. "Want some?" He asked as he took himself a piece and popped it into his mouth after taking the wrapper off. "Do people call you a righteous dude too?"
"Teach? An abbreviated form of the noun teacher? Most Vulcans whom take on an apprentice in such away have their pupils call them Master. You may do so if you wish, but Suroc will be just as logical. And Mister O' Connor we can start when ever you are ready."
"You got it!" Shawn 'golfed' once more. "Let's go 'master'," I feel like a genie in a lamp. "if you don't have anything else to do."

"Actually I think it might be based on a lot of numbers in scoring."
"That is indeed what I had just stated Mr.O'Conner. Golf is a game based on numerical quantities. If I did not know any better I would surmise that you were trying to play some sort of a mental game with me. To do so would be illogical, I am a Vulcan." He said as if that was all the explanation one would need, and in most cases it was.
"Who was the person you didn't have to explain humor to? Who would have that kind of mind?"
"The two most notable individuals would be Admiral Janeway and Ambassador Spock. Admiral Janeway laughed and Ambassador Spock said it was humorous. Does that answer your question Mr.O'Conner? I hope that that has satisfied your curiosity."
"Totally Twilight Zone."
"No Mr.O'Conner, we are in the Delta quadrant not the Twilight Zone. Strange that I have never heard of such a place and a boy has, is it a place on Sol-3? Perhaps a place or zone of space in the Alpha quadrant?" He inquired of the boy. He watched as he got out his gum and offered Suroc a piece. He took it and unwrapped it and put it his mouth and mimicked Shawn's chewing.
It was not long after this chewing of this gum that Suroc began to slow his chewing and then stopped. He spat it into his trash disposal unit. "It was.... intriguing and a lesson well learned. It was quite flavorful. I assume such a thing is common with humans? This Gum...gum...gum" Suroc said pronouncing the word a couple of times as it sounded weird and this was his first time actually saying it. He stopped mulling over the word when he heard Shawn ask if others called himself a righteous dude.
"No, I have never been called a righteous dude before. Most people when speaking to be try to make conversation quick as I am Vulcan. They deem talking to a being that feels nothing is counter productive to their questioning. It is logical to surmise that being called righteous would not be something that would happen as I do not pray to a deity of some kind."
"You got it! Let's go 'master', if you don't have anything else to do."
"Then let us venture to the holodecks." Suroc walked around his desk and placed a hand on Shawn's shoulder and then moved it to his back ushering him along his way as Suroc followed suit. He locked his office and programed the computer to send any looking for him to the holodecks.
END:Move to hollow decks.
