Hector is a very difficult man to deal with. He can be stubborn, sarcastic, demeaning, and outright childish -- but he is an engineering genius. It's just unfortunate he doesn't play well with others.
Friends
As unlikely as it is he'd have any, I wouldn't mind if anyone thought their character had the patience saintly enough to pull this off XD He's the type of friend who'd prank you at any turn, and probably tell you the God's honest truth whether you wanted to hear it or not.
Enemies
There's bound to be a slew of them. I really enjoy writing conflict, so please feel free to hate him xD I won't take it personally. Odds are he will have offended most of the people on the ship already anyway XD
Romance
Sure, but it's gotta be good, and a lengthy, conflict-ridden plot for me to stay interested. He's never going to be sweet or attentive!
Engineering Staff
He's two kinds of terrible at his job. The worst is that he likely won't trust them for a long time, and won't let them do anything serious. The second is that he'll challenge them constantly in order to force them to prove themselves, often with repeat consequences.
For example:
"Make this console 30% more efficient in how it handles power supply."
After it's done...
"Now. For your second trick... make this console 30% more efficient in how it handles power supply."
It's like putting a cat in charge of mice, so I predict plenty of fireworks, especially from Sharpay!
