Blah, blah, blah... Shar thought. "Feet? I thought I only had one broken leg." Shar turned on her side like Lieutenant Rei told, and helped her to. The telling didn't bother her as much as the assistance. She was not a baby that needed to be helped roll to her side, all she had was a broken leg, well, a half broken leg by now she guessed.
"When you have a moment Doctor, I'd like to speak with you." "May I have a clue what it is you wish to talk about or is it hush hush?"
"I'd have though a trip to the ships shrink would have been a better idea." No, she was not letting it go. The force field stunt had been incerdibally stupid, not to mention worry-some for her. "Oh yes, do give us a clue." Shar said a bit teasingly. Sharpay smiled. She was happy to see him, and the biobed monitor confirmed it.
Her heartbeat had increased some, as well as a few other things. Shar took a full look at the thing above her head when she saw a large spike. Tattle tale!

"May I have a clue what it is you wish to talk about or is it hush hush?"
before he could respond, Sharpay spent her two cents...
"I'd have though a trip to the ships shrink would have been a better idea."
"There is nothing wrong with my mind... as far as I know..." was the best come back he could think of at the moment, although he also wondered if maybe there was something wrong with him mentally... he had never been attracted to a human woman before, but then again, was this a simple attraction or something more... only time would tell...
"Oh yes, do give us a clue."
He cleared his throat...
"I had a small run in with a force field, it has left me feeling drained, I simply need a quick check-up before I return to duty."
he smirked at Sharpy's bio bed instruments, the monitor was as good as any lie detector and it gave away more than the doctor would realize, even if Shar did notice it herself... he was almost almost glad the bed he sat on was not active, although he was unsure of how well it would work to begin with, after his last visit here. Truth be told, he was glad her monitor showed a reaction to his presence, it meant that what had happened between them on the surface would not be left behind along with these strange beings, but those feelings would go with them, and change and grow and develop into who knows what, if anything... but he was glad they were both back safely to discover these things together...

Lieutenant Rei almost laughed at the exchange of words between the lieutenant and the ensign. It was somewhat funny in a way. Close to banter an childish teasing. The biobed monitor suddenly changed it's reading of Ensign Harper. Trish looked at them then back to the young ensign also noting the time of the change. It was the same time Lieutenant Mishtak came around. Something was up, that much was certain.
"A small run in with a forcefield? I take it this happened on the planet?" Trish questioned. She turned her head to look at a medic. "Ensign Summers, please come here." Trishany was going to need someone to finish up ensign Harper while she did a scan of Lieutenant Mishtak.

"A small run in?" Shar looked at Mishtak then Trishany. "He purposely put himself into the bloody thing!" Shar exclaimed with a shake of her head. "I told him not to, but did he listen? No. Nuh-uh, don't listen to listen to the engineer. She'll just give you good advice." Obviously Sharpay was still a little ticked off. "Don't listen to someone who cares. If you had listened you would be just fine! You wouldn't need to be here!"
Sharpay let out a sigh.
"Since I can't return to work, would you still like to run that program with me, and maybe have...dinner? It could be fun, that is if you aren't too afraid to accept the offer." Sharpay smirked at the last sentence as she looked right at Mishtak. Yes, she had asked him on a dinner date after they ran his program, which she was actually eager to see. Yes, the invitation had been in front of Lieutenant Rei. Shar didn't have anything to hide, especially since the monitor was pretty much telling all in the first place.

"Ensign Summers, please come here."
"Coming lieutenant." Mary Anne replied as she made her way over to Lieutenant Rei who was by a biobed working on a blonde shipmate in a gold uniform. From the looks of it Lieutenant Rei was healing a broken leg. Everything seemed under control, so what Trishany needed her for, well she was about to find out.
"Lieutenant, ensign." Mary Anne acknowleded Mishtak and Sharpay.
"What's the gig?" Mary Anne asked using the slang she knew. She didn't use slang too often, especially surfer slang since most officers had no clue what in the world she was talking about. Heck, some of them even had to whip out a PADD and look up the words.

Trishany smiled as Ensign Harper went on a little rant. Again, she wanted to laugh, but held it in. "Oh, so I see." was all Trish said. Harper did eventually calm down. At least enough to as the lieutenant on a date. Those sorts of questions weren't usually asked in a somewhat public location, but it was also funny as how Ensign Harper seemed to make it sound a little like a challenge. Thank the deities for the Hippocratic Oath...
"What's the gig?"
"Ensign Summers, the gig is I'd like you to finish healing Ensign Harpers broken leg. She needs the back and other side repaired. After that is done please fit her with a walking cast. They can be found in the back storage."
Trishany then handed the tool to Ensign Summers. "Ensign Harper, if you wouldn't mind moving to your stomach."
Lieutenant Rei moved out of the way so Ensign Summers could finish up while she went over to stand in front of Lieutenant Mishtak. Flipping open her tricorder she began scanning him. "Well, this is interesting..." Trish tapped a few buttons on her medical tricorder. "I've never seen anything like it..."

"A small run in with a force field? I take it this happened on the planet?"
He was about to answer when...
"A small run in? He purposely put himself into the bloody thing! I told him not to, but did he listen? No. Nuh-uh, don't listen to listen to the engineer. She'll just give you good advice. Don't listen to someone who cares. If you had listened you would be just fine! You wouldn't need to be here!"
clearing his throat he looked between the two, then looking at the Doctor said.
"yes, I walked into it on purpose, I did not see any other way to get the data I needed..."
then looking at Shar
"... Your advice was taken into consideration, and I chose to do it my way anyway. If I had listened to you, there is a chance, no matter how slim, that we would still be trapped there..."
did she say 'someone that cares."? was that her caring as a fellow member of the crew, or was she openly admitting her feelings in front of witnesses... hmm...
"Since I can't return to work, would you still like to run that program with me, and maybe have...dinner? It could be fun, that is if you aren't too afraid to accept the offer."
"As soon as the Doctor here clears us, I would very much enjoy that... there is... nothing for me to be afraid of."
he smiled over at her, he was enjoying this, and even though he would not admit it out loud, even if he were not here for a check-up, he would still have been here to check in on her.
"What's the gig?"
"Ensign Summers, the gig is I'd like you to finish healing Ensign Harper's broken leg. She needs the back and other side repaired. After that is done please fit her with a walking cast. They can be found in the back storage."
gig... now there was a term he was not familiar with... but the doctor seemed to understand it, so he let it pass, if it came up again he would ask... the doctor began scanning him...
"Well, this is interesting..." Trish tapped a few buttons on her medical tricorder. "I've never seen anything like it..."
"Doctor, I do not mean to sound rude, but in my experience... when one of your profession makes such a statement, it is almost never in a good way... would you mind sharing what it is that has caused this reaction?"
he wasn't worried, well not much anyway... he hoped Sharpay was too busy with her treatment to catch that something could be wrong with him now... if it was from the force field, she'd never let him hear the end of it, and if it was something worse... he didn't want to think about that right now...

"Doctor, I do not mean to sound rude, but in my experience... when one of your profession makes such a statement, it is almost never in a good way... would you mind sharing what it is that has caused this reaction?"
"Hmm? Oh, of course." Trishany had nearly become mesmerized by the readings on her tricorder that she almost hadn't heard what Mishtak had said. It was just all so very fascinating. "Well, whatever that force field was made out of when you put yourself into it some of the technology or whatever you'd like to call them have stayed on you."
Trish paused in though for a moment to come up with something that she could compare it too.
"Think of it like poison ivy or poison oak. You come into contact with one of the plants and you end up with a very itchy rash. Hard to get rid of too. Or if you like you could also think of it like a misquote bite." Trish gave a shoulder shrug before she began talking with her hands. "So, these little things are doing their job like a large force field would, only slower and much smaller voltage. These little buggers are your rash or misquote bite from contact with that force field."
Trish looked at the readings on her tricorder again.
"I believe I can remove them if I can find a way to reverse the polarity and field modulation, along with some heat. They should come out easy as a blackhead. Stay here, lay down, and keep your hands to yourself."
Trish left for one of the labs. She read through a procedure in one of the ships medical library. It was not necessarily for this but it had common properties. She also looked through the tools and medicines. This was a combo of engineering and medical. Of course not that a combo like that had not been heard of before. It was just unusual to be in a situation where both needed to be honed.
Trishany came back wheeling a silver cart in front of her. "I'll be putting the sides up." She informed Lieutenant Mishtak. "Hold still." Boy did she ever mean that more than ever. They would not be making another stop where a brand new bed would be installed.
Trishany pushed the button and the sides went up around Mishtak. Trish then loaded a hypospray then placed it to his neck. The hiss sound was accompanied upon the release of the medication. She then typed in some commands on the bed. "You'll start to feel warm, maybe even a little hot. That is normal. Please don't move."
After another minute or so Trishany put another hypospray to his neck. This one was filled with a different medication than the first. Okay, okay, okay... Trishany looked at the readings on the screen. It was working, so far, and life signs were stable. Good. "Alright, now I'm going to inject a very small amount of medical nanites in to help with some of the repairs. Easily removable once they do their job."

"Aye, aye doc." Mary Anne gave a quick salute then took the instrument from Lieutenant Rei. She began slowly running over Ensign Harper's leg they way Lieutenant Rei had before she moved on to someone else. "Soooo, how'd you get this nasty of a break?" Mary Anne turned off the tool now that Ensign Harper had to turn on her stomach before she could finish.
"My bone broken injuries tended to be due to wipe outs."

"Hmm? Oh, of course. Well, whatever that force field was made out of when you put yourself into it some of the technology or whatever you'd like to call them have stayed on you."
them, did she say them? oh great... and he will definitely never hear the end of it from Sharpay now...
"They... Stayed? Like some sort of parasite?"
"Think of it like poison ivy or poison oak. You come into contact with one of the plants and you end up with a very itchy rash. Hard to get rid of too. Or if you like you could also think of it like a misquote bite. So, these little things are doing their job like a large force field would, only slower and much smaller voltage. These little buggers are your rash or misquote bite from contact with that force field."
"...Doctor, I do not mean to question you, however..."
He pulled off the top of his uniform and the under tank with it to reveal his well chiseled form...
"...as you can see, I have no rash. Nor do I feel anything resembling a 'bite' of any kind..."
"I believe I can remove them if I can find a way to reverse the polarity and field modulation, along with some heat. They should come out easy as a blackhead. Stay here, lay down, and keep your hands to yourself."
<Grumble>
"If there are these... 'things' on me, would they transfer to anyone I came into physical contact with? If so, you should check Sharpay while she's here and have Lt. Xena and the Captain report as well... and you should scan yourself as well just to be on the safe side..."
why was he telling her things he already knew? maybe because it made him feel better about being where he was and doing what he was about to do...
"I'll be putting the sides up. Hold still."
he lay back onto the bed, and remained as still as he could, he was going to do his best not to break another one of these things, although with the way he had been feeling, he wasn't sure he would have the strength to open them, let alone break them...
although, now with the sides up, his heart rate was being monitored... and it was faster than normal... not even he knew if it was due to his proximity to Shar, or if it was due to the medical emergency he was now a part of...
"You'll start to feel warm, maybe even a little hot. That is normal. Please don't move."
oh yay for the discomfort of feeling better, he never had figured out why, when your not feeling well, they give you things to make you feel worse then tell you it'll make you feel better... he often wondered growing up if he would have been better quicker had he not taken medicine...
"Alright, now I'm going to inject a very small amount of medical nanites in to help with some of the repairs. Easily removable once they do their job."
"Nanites? Those tiny little machines? Doctor, I do not wish to sound ungrateful, but I am not entirely comfortable with the idea of tiny robots probing around my insides..."
this day was just getting better and better... he really needed Rei to check Shar and make sure she was not infected, they had been quite close after his stunt, both during their little sparring match and the intimate moments there after... now he found himself worrying if their intimacy was caused by these things... he really hoped that was not the case, but if it was, would they remember it once the infection was gone? so many variables to little time, and he is a Klingon not a Vulcan, these complex algorithms were too much for him at the moment... his brain wave monitor showed that he was stressing on thought too much with a series of beeps... he needed to calm down and relax... he needed something to focus on... he found that something, he started to calm, his monitor's showing he was relaxing again... his focal point? Sharpay, on the next bed, her hair falling into her face as she was rolled over again and again for her leg to be healed... he focused on her, on what they had been through and what had happened between them, and deep down he knew what they had was not because of some stupid force field, but it was because of their true feelings...

"Soooo, how'd you get this nasty of a break?" "My bone broken injuries tended to be due to wipe outs."
"Wipe outs? So, you're a surfer I take it?" Shar turned on her stomach so Ensign Summers could finish up. She was not looking forward to the walking cast, but staying in here much longer, well she just wanted out. She'd protest later.
"Well beach bunny, I got this break from falling a long ways down due to being dropped." Shar stated plainly.
"And I'm checked out enough." Shar added when she heard her name. After she said what she did Shar was quiet for a moment. That sure didn't come out sounding the way she had meant.
"What I mean is I've had enough check-ups." That sounds better...
"Nanites? Those tiny little machines? Doctor, I do not wish to sound ungrateful, but I am not entirely comfortable with the idea of tiny robots probing around my insides..."
Sharpay laughed as she turned her head and flipped her blonde hair out of the way so she could see Mishtak.
"Coward." Shar teased. "Is that what you plan to say if you ever come up against a Borg? Sounds pretty pitiful if you ask me. An ya know, the doc said she could remove them after they did their work."
Shar bit her lower lip. She had to said it. "By the way, you would not be needing them if you had listened to me."

"Wipe outs? So, you're a surfer I take it?"
"Yes actually. I just about eat, breathe, and sleep surfing." Mary Anne finished healing Ensign Harper's leg. "Its real rad in my opinion."
"Well beach bunny, I got this break from falling a long ways down due to being dropped." "And I'm checked out enough."
Mary Anne lightly chuckled. "I'm sorry. That just sounded..."
"What I mean is I've had enough check-ups."
"I'll uh, go get that walking cast now. Excuse me." Mary Anne went off towards the room in which she would find one. Let's see... Mary Anne checked the few that were stored up out. She examined each closely as she needed one that would fit. "I think this one will do."
Mary Anne picked up the walking cast and headed back to the bio bed where Ensign Harper was.
She had returned in time to overhear the 'I told you so'.
"Here we are ensign." Mary Anne placed the cast up against the bed as she helped Sharpay to lay back on her back. Moving the walking cast to lay on the bed Ensign Summers gently lifted Sharpay's leg with one hand as she placed the cast under it. She then gently lowered the ensigns leg into it.
"We're almost done here." Mary Anne announced as she set and strapped Harpers' leg into the metal walking cast, that sort of looked more like a super advanced leg brace that they used to put on peoples with crippled legs and weak spines in the old old days of a totally different century.
"Would you like the cane that goes with it?"

"Don't worry. I'll scan each away team member, and thank you for the advice." Trish said with a smile. She was going to check them over anyways, but just not as soon as she thought she would be doing. "Yes, those little machines." Trish smirked a little at Sharpay's comment about the Borg although it did make her skin crawl just a bit. Oh. The Borg.
Trish became a little alarmed when the monitor started going bazerk that she quickly flipped her tricorder back out and scanned through the bed. Things started to slow back to normal again...a very good thing. She suposed her might have been getting upset about the treatment as currently she had her telepathic sensors turned off.
"Shall we continue now?"

"And I'm checked out enough."
He let a quick snicker escape before regaining control of himself...
"What I mean is I've had enough check-ups."
"One more will not kill you, unless you are afraid..." there, a challenge, knowing her she would not back down and in the end allow herself to be scanned in order to prove she was not afraid of anything, even if he was certain he had discovered at least one of her weaknesses...
"Coward. Is that what you plan to say if you ever come up against a Borg? Sounds pretty pitiful if you ask me."
did she just... yep, she did... he hoped that sickbay was protected against 'lover's quarrels' as they were called in ancient times...
"I am no coward... and as for the Borg, I have come across them back when I was assigned to an Imperial Cruiser, they are easy enough to defeat. Their shields may react to energy weapons, but they have no defenses against a Bat'leth..."
he was getting heated again, the memories of a past glory flooded his mind, the Borg had tried to assimilate the first ship he served on, they were driven back by blades and the cries of victorious warriors, it was a good day to make the Borg die...
"By the way, you would not be needing them if you had listened to me."
there it was, he knew it was coming... she would never let him forget this now... although, in a way... he looked forward to her constant jabs about it, it would mean she remembered and cared... and if she were to ever stop... then he would know something had changed...
"...Next time, I shall head your warnings..."
"Yes, those little machines."
"An ya know, the doc said she could remove them after they did their work."
"I do not like the idea, but it does not seem as though I have much of a choice..."
"Don't worry. I'll scan each away team member, and thank you for the advice."
He attempted to relax and let her do her job, knowing that as long as the away team was scanned soon any chance of spreading would be limited...
"Shall we continue now?"
"By all means Doctor, do what you must..."

"Would you like the cane that goes with it?"
"No thank you. I'm perfectly capable of going on without a cane." Shar said firmly feeling just a little bit insulted. "Really now." She sat up keeping her legs on the bed. She was ready to go, well almost ready. Shar just about glared a Mishtak when he insinuated she was afraid.
"Afraid? Me?" Shar pointed to herself. "Are you forgetting that I risked my life to help save your sorry..." Sharpay was getting a little steamed. She had stopped mid sentence for she didn't need anyone gossiping or to simply start a fight with someone else. "I'll show you afraid."
"Ensign, scan away." Shar said a little forcefully. "If you or the doc don't do it I will."
"And you are so a coward. You won't even..." Shar looked at Ensign Summers then Lieutenant Rei before looking at Mishtak. "do something because of your father and the counsil. Because you care too much what they think, and what you think!" Calming herself Sharpay continued.
"As far as the Borg...you just chopped them up into little tiny pieces and packed them into a can?"
Shar grinned. "You men always talk a big game. If I was part of that battle I bet I would have scored more corspes than you."
"...Next time, I shall head your warnings..."
"So...in other words you were wrong and I was right." She smiled as she twisted a blonde strand of hair around her finger. "I knew you'd see things my way eventually."
