Well, with time to kill after returning to sickbay from saying goodbye and hello, Trish assigned a medic to sterilize the beds as she went back to the testing results. Trish picked up another tube, and dropped in a cell sample then slipped it into its proper holder before pushing the on switch. As it was spinning around the Betazoid lieutenant took a sample that had already been processed, and slipped it beneath the microscope to take a look at it, and write down the results.

In walked Mary Anne. It was her shift, and she was three minutes late. Could she help it though if Crewman Daryl insisted that she do something to get rid of his hiccups? Not exactly. It was her job to help and heal. Surly the staff would understand. "Anybody here?" Mary Anne asked the medic by the biobed. He gave a nod and. "Lieutenant Rei." He said. "Thank you." Mary Anne replied. The lieutenant must be on the other side, in the back. Which is why Mary Anne popped over. "Lieutenant, anything I can do for you?"

The doors to sick bay opened and in walked Lieutenant Commander Larkin Reinhardt. He has a bleeding gash on his head and did not looked to amused to be in here. He once more touched his wound and saw blood on his fingers, sometimes he wished he would clot better, maybe he would bleed less, maybe he hit a vein. He looked around.
"Anyone in here? I need some dermal regeneration, possibly a hypospray. Hello, Doctor?" grumbling he went and took a seat on one of the patient tables and waited for one of the medical staff to take a look at him and tell him something that he already knew, that he was fine.
Well he hoped he was fine, he felt fine. he was in pretty goos shape for a man his age that was not in security. Yeah. He was sure that everything was going to be just fine....if he would get some attention would be great, he might actually grow hair waiting for some med staff, maybe they were around the corner or something. He shrugged and waited.

"Lieutenant, anything I can do for you?"
"Ensign Summers," Trish said happily as she turned to see the young ensign. When was an ensign not young? Hm. "Yes, you can get the rest on the samples and take a look at them from underneath the scope." Trish replied. She was about to go back to the task that she was doing when she sensed a presence, and heard a voice.
"Anyone in here? I need some dermal regeneration, possibly a hypospray. Hello, Doctor?"
"I'll be the judge of that that." Trishany said as she grabbed a medical tricorder and began scanning the officer in front of her. "Do you hurt any place aside from your head?" Lieutenant Rei asked as she paused to tap a few buttons on the medical tricorder.

"No. Is this really necessary, I fell and bumped my head when we came through that blasted wormhole. Its a scratch. If you just patch me up I can be on my way." He said coming off as a bit more grumpy than he wanted to or even meant to.
with a resolved sigh he let her scan him. He never used to mind med bays and such, but since the death of his wife and daughter theres many things that he once enjoyed that now seems to be nothing but a bother or a morbid reminder of them. He closed his eyes and a grimace played across his face, his eyes tightened as if he winced, and slowly opened them back up

"What's your hurry cowboy?" Trish asked as she read the readings. She also cross referenced with the monitor hooked up to the biobed. "Everything seems to be alright..." Trish said as she folded up the medical tricorder and placed it on the biobed next to the lieutenant commander. "...or is it?"
Trish inquired questionably as she filled a hypospray with a pain killer. She put it to his neck. The hissing sound indicated the release of the medication. "That will take away any physical pain." Trish informed hinting a bit that she was willing to listen should he want to talk about what he was feeling. Lieutenant Rei then grabbed the dermal regenerator and slowly ran it across the wound. "Well..."

"That will take away any physical pain."
"Doc, that thing can only take away pains of the body not soul, sadly thta is more torn up than a targs chew toy. No amount of Hypospray can fix that." He said with no emotion on his face just a straight face and nearly dead eyes looking back at Trishany, it was haunting actually.
"Well..."
"Well what? Are you wanting me to spill my life story as you heal my head? Tell you how everyday is a struggle for me not to lock myself up in my quarters and weep, how my entire career reminds me of them?! What in the hell do you want from me doc, I'm not a Vulcan, contrary to some peoples opinions I do feel!" He was well into a sorrowful rage and clearly fighting back tears through grit teeth.

"Doc, that thing can only take away pains of the body not soul, sadly that is more torn up than a targs chew toy. No amount of Hypospray can fix that."
I thought I said that. About the hypospray only taking away the pains of the body; that is what physical is. He was distraught, no hiding that...not even from a non telepath. The look said it all, but unfortunately Trishany not only was on the receiving end of the look, but also the emotions. They were strong.
"Well what? Are you wanting me to spill my life story as you heal my head? Tell you how everyday is a struggle for me not to lock myself up in my quarters and weep, how my entire career reminds me of them?! What in the hell do you want from me doc, I'm not a Vulcan, contrary to some peoples opinions I do feel!"
She knew that was coming. It could be felt building. "I know you feel." Trish began softly as she put the medical instrument back on the tray once she was finished. She also took that time to hop up on the biobed and sit next to Larkin. "I just thought it'd be healthy for you to talk about it just a little bit." Trish placed a caring hand upon his shoulder. "It's painful, and I know I have nothing to compare what you are feeling nor would I try to. You can't just lock everything away."
"It is okay to cry." Trish also held a degree in physiology. Not that it always helped. Really she just wanted him to know that she was there if he ever needed someone to talk to. Trish did care about others. One of the reasons she went into the medical field. She wanted to help. Extending the hand was all she could do at the moment. The rest and next step was up to him.

"Its been a year. Do you remember the U.S.S Endeavor's reactor core blew, lost all hands? My wife and daughter was on that ship, I was on that ship, I left a week before the accident, was going to instruct a flight class at Starfleet academy. Elizebeth, my wife asked me to say, that it was optional. I told her I would be back in two weeks, she would be fine....I told her that she would be fine Doc....I lied to her....she was not fine she died! She was forty one. My sweet Joyce...."At this he clasped his face in his hands and wept silently. His soul a maelstrom of sorrow that no man should have to bear.

At this pint, professional or not Trish didn't care. She gave Larkin a hug. "You didn't lie. You had no idea what could have happened or what was going to happen. No one could have predicted that. It's not your fault." Trish said tenderly and gently. She had lots of compassion, always did.
She also was one of those people that got really awful sympathy pains. "Horrible, yes. One of the worst feelings is that of helplessness. But if you remember them, who they were, and what they aspired to be they are not really gone. Love endureth all things. Time is its helping hand."

Larkin just looked at the Doctor for a very long moment. Time seemed to slow and stop. He once more closed his eyes and thought about his wife and daughter, pictured them in his head. when something happened that had not happened in over a year, he smiled. But it was fleeting, and short lived. His smile faded from his face like the sun fades to give way to the moon. He opened his eyes.
"My daughter Joyce was 17 years old. The greatest part of my life was her, do you have any children? If so imagine your life with out them and then you can relate in a small way to the pain I feel of having everything you loved torn away...." He said flatly but he no longer cried.

"I don't have have children. I can imagine, but I know it would be far from the same." Trish did get an idea from that though. If it was a good one or not remained to be seen. They had a seventeen year old girl on the ship who had lost her parents in a shuttle accident, and had no siblings to speak of.
The girl occasionally helped in sickbay among other areas of the ship. Maybe it would be good for the two of them to meet up sometime? "There is someone I think you should eventually meet. If you would not mind, what was your daughter like?"

"Full of life and loved adventure, she loved flying like her old man, and botany like her mother. Her expertise though was Medicine. she was going to be a ships Doctor, when she went to the academy next year, guess that wont happen now. I miss them so much."

Trish lightly patted Larkin on the back and got up from the biobed. She picked up a PADD and put some information on it. She then handed it to Larkin. "It's a prescription." Trish said. The PADD held a small portion of Lillian Daniels bio. About her parents, very few of her likes, and her next duty schedule. "I'd like you to see Lilly as soon as you get a chance. It's possible the two of you can help each other."

"Thank you Doc. Now if that will be all? I have a ship a steer." with that he got up and made his way to the turbo Lift out the doors and further down the hall. When he was off duty, sure. Why not. He would consider it some of the on ship therapy Councilor Troy was talking about.
"Bridge!" He growled at the lift and up in went after he stepped through. He realized that talking about it made him feel a little better, but it was still a very saddening loss for him. He used to be happy, he would do anything to be happy once more, though he wanted natural happiness, not a drug induced one. Closer he decided, thats what he needed, he ultimately needed closure. How would he find that? He in the Delta Quadrant. The turbo lift stopped and the doors parted.
