"Now why would I want to do that?" Xena sort of semi-ask. She was more curious as to what his reply would be. "I don't care one blasted bit if it is not lethal! It's wrong. Understand? W-R-O-N-G. Do you know the definition of that word?" Xena then folded her arms. "For someone that is supposed to be so smart I'm starting to think you don't have the simple common sense that was given to the goat."
And that is partly what makes you angry. It was still quite a mystery. How could she possible like Hector, but at the same time wish he complied to the rules. You'd think that I'd have learned my lesson by now... Always falling for the 'bad boy'. Why? Who knew.

"Common is overrated," Hector returned. "I'm teaching a valuable lesson."
You know better was practically Hector's middle name. He knew he was supposed to abide by numerous often frivolous rules -- Starfleet's rules. Society's rules. He had to be polite, and hold his tongue, and otherwise play nicely with others -- but he had found that the 'catch more flies with honey' adage had never rung true. This way he could indulge himself.
He looked up at her for the first time, meeting her gorgeous blue eyes with a mischievous look in his.
"Besides which, goats do things like this all the time. Consider this the human equivalent of headbutting sense into Ensign Hollander."

"I'm teaching a valuable lesson."
"Hardly. And if I let you go through with it I'll be no better." Xena pointed to Romilly, actually toughing his chest with her finger. "Also which I'll have to teach you a valuable lesson." She poked him twice. "Am I making myself clear?" Most likely not in his little mind. At least she thought.
"Besides which, goats do things like this all the time. Consider this the human equivalent of headbutting sense into Ensign Hollander."
"Those would be rams. And they do it for territorial purposes and for saying 'this is my girl go find your own'."
Xena was standing her ground; like always. She had used a firm tone of voice when speaking to him as well. Would they always butt heads with each other? Perhaps. Unless he complied...at least some of the time.

"Well, exactly. This is my girl, and Hollander should leave her alone. Preferably forever, I wholly intend to ask the captain to transfer him on to the next M-Class planet we pass."
He had stopped what he was doing, though. He may yet decide to resume it later when she wasn't looking, but for that moment, she had his full attention.
It hadn't been that long since he'd left her quarters.
"Why don't you just admit that you can't keep away from me?"

"Captain Tiho would not leave any person behind," Xena paused momentarily. "well, she might leave you behind if you cause too much trouble. Don't you have any redeeming qualities?" Aside from kissing... She then mentally kicked herself for thinking that. He was horrible, but his touch was not bad.
"Why don't you just admit that you can't keep away from me?"
"I can stay away from you longer than you could stay away from me; if it weren't for my job in security." Xena retorted. She could stay away from him all she wanted. She was just a security officer; assistant chief, so she really had no choice if he was going to be reckless and or careless or just do wrong things!

"Don't you have any redeeming qualities?"
Ouch.
"I like to think redemption is overrated," Hector said defensively, a little wounded by that comment. He wasn't deluded about himself, he knew he could be difficult, and that people didn't like it. "And I'm here, aren't I? Someone wanted me on this ship badly enough to ask me to take this position."
It was because Hector thrived on things being hard, he knew. Where most people would crumble under pressure he tended to blossom into it. He would risk everything to keep the ship running and everyone on it safe. Even Hollander, really, however grudgingly he had to admit it.
"I can stay away from you longer than you could stay away from me; if it weren't for my job in security."
"That's funny, because unless you're a clairvoyant -- I was down here, on duty, behaving myself for all you knew." He offered her an infuriating smirk and elected not to tell her he'd been thinking about her the entire time.

"And I'm here, aren't I? Someone wanted me on this ship badly enough to ask me to take this position."
"Must have been a jerk like you or someone with a twisted sense of humor." Xena said as if she didn't care as she folded her arms once again. "How you managed not to take a one way trip to New Zeland I'll never know." Jail. Xena had been to the penal colonly, but not in a cell. Part of the job. "Everyone has a story."
"That's funny, because unless you're a clairvoyant -- I was down here, on duty, behaving myself for all you knew."
"Would you believe me if I told you after my quarters I put in a clearance for the computer to alert me to any console that had any funny bussiness going on?" Poker face. Plain and simple. No one had ever been able to read her.

"I've been in jail," Hector admitted freely. "Not in New Zealand, mind you, but I've been. Food's terrible. Escaped once! They don't really like it if you do that."
He had worked out that his ankle bracelet could be used to disrupt the forcefield covering the entrance to his cell. All he'd needed was a toothpick or something of a similar size to get it open. In the end he'd sharpened one of the prongs on his prison-issue plastic spork by grinding it on the floor.
Then he'd taken the chip out of the bracelet and left it in the cell, so it looked like he was still there. The only reason they knew he was gone was because the thing detected movement, and they thought he'd died.
They'd offered him community service to get him to tell them how he'd done it, and how to prevent it. He'd taken it, but only because he knew he was going to hold back just enough to escape again, if he ever had to.
He was innocent, anyway.
"Would you believe me if I told you after my quarters I put in a clearance for the computer to alert me to any console that had any funny business going on?"
"I might... if you hadn't asked me what I was doing when you got here," he said, but rolled his eyes good-naturedly. "Don't you say I never give you anything," he cautioned her, and leaned over to deactivate his little booby trap.

Jail. She should have know. And strangely enough that just made Xena like him more. Curse the attraction to bad boys. It was bad. Bad, but been like that her whole life. There was just a thrill or a challange that was provided by them. Perhaps that was the reason behind it all. Either way it was not very fair.
"I might... if you hadn't asked me what I was doing when you got here,"
"Have you not ever heard of someone asking a question they already know the answer to?" Some people tended to do that to make the other person feel ill at ease. Others reasons? Well... it was not exactly a tatcit that Xena used. She generally was more head on and direct.
"Don't you say I never give you anything,"
"If you can go twenty four hours without doing something wrong I won't." Xena said simply. He turned it off. It better had not reactivate. When he leaned over Xena was very tempted to kiss him. It was weird. When he got her riled up she either wanted to smack him or kiss him or both. It was an odd outlet for anger.
She glanced around for a moment, then pulled Hector to a corner in engineering, to help with privacy. She then kissed him, only this time around it was filled with a little bit of passion. "Promise?"

If Hector hadn't known better he'd think that his little stint in prison was a turn on. He found himself yanked unceremoniously into a corner, and his head swam as she pressed him into another passionate and unexpected kiss.
This time, though he was loathe to do it, he pulled away and looked desperately around for where Sharpay was.
"You know -- much as I enjoy the fact that you are insatiable, I'd rather not have to answer Hollander's awkward questions about the facts of life," he said, and gave her hip a little squeeze before he moved grudgingly to set some distance between them.
"Unless there's something you want me to look at in a Jefferies tube, Lieutenant, that couldn't possibly wait..." he grinned.

That was unexpected. Xena thought wry. It was the distance he made. Last time he didn't want her to answer her comm badge. Threw his across the room. Surprise. Not explain the facts of life... That was understandable...sort of. "Don't you think everyone here already knows? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the engineering officers answer to you. So, since when do you have to explain yourself?" He didn't have to. However...
"Unless there's something you want me to look at in a Jefferies tube, Lieutenant, that couldn't possibly wait..."
A cramped space? Well... "No ones working in there I hope." Xena said as she opened the hatch that so happened to be beside her. "You first." Xena said after she opened it. Like her, he also might be the sorts to have someone go in the close the hatch on them just for fun. Besides, he was also a hazard to good health. The 'project' she caught before on the console...

"And I thought you'd be pleased I was setting a good example," Hector said, although it was more than that -- he didn't like anybody to have an edge over him. His quarters were on this deck -- he was still inviting her into a Jefferies tube instead.
Getting into one was never graceful for him, though. He was far too tall and gangly. He did go first, though --squeezing in ahead of her without any objections.

Ensign Harper had just finished having a little talk with a certain other ensign. Things were now square, and they were going to stay that way. Now that it was over and done with Sharpay decided to do a few tasks that needed to get done to save some time; also so she'd know that they'd get done correctly. She finished a few on the lower level, but on her way up to the upper level she saw something rather interesting. What was that he said? It's not private if it's public? Something very interesting was bound to happen when Hector got back to his quarters. Same with Xena. Only with Xena Sharpay would just be teasing her as the two had gotten to know each other, but for Romilly, well it'd be a slap in the face. Especially for a hypocrite. Accessing the musical database from a console on the upper level Sharpay instructed the songs Talk Back Trembling Lips and You Got To Hide Your Love Away to play the minute he entered his quarters. For Xena, Sharpay put in No One Needs To KnowTag: Any

"And I thought you'd be pleased I was setting a good example,"
"Under normal circumstances." Xena sort of replied. Definitely not normal circumstances right now. Xena just waited for Hector to get into the tube. She also kept an eye out just in case. Naturally she forgot about the upper level. Just slipped her mind, then again something or someone else was currently on her mind as well. One last look she crawled in after then shut the hatch, pressed a few buttons on the side to seal it...just in case.
"Well..."

"Did you just lock us in?"
Hector was surprised. He wondered if holding him to an entirely different standard than she held herself was going to be par for the course with this... whatever it was. He didn't know which he preferred. He did enjoy this magnificent new trend in rule breaking, but he thought she was most attractive when she was berating him. He liked that she stood up to him.
Secretly.
"Naughty, Lieutenant." He gestured for her to move with him into a more open area -- a place large enough to sit up at least -- and when he had her there he took the lead, this time. He pressed her gently, but firmly against a bulkhead and lowered his head for a kiss.
This time it was slower -- there was no frantic panicking, no sense of urgency -- only calculated, torturous passion.
