La'Mara was one of the first to enter the shuttle bay. They'd be taking one of the shuttles down that had been modeled after Lieutenant Tom Paris' Delta Flyer, which was a really cool shuttle. Efficient too. As well as a bit larger than a class nine.
Walking up to the shuttle they were going to take La'Mara opened the door and walked inside. Everything they needed for a standard mission should be there. But a check would not hurt in the least. La'Mara sat down in one of the seats doing a quick systems check. "Anyone else excited?"

Because they had large amounts of resources to transport up, probably, they were taking the Alpha Flyer-class spacecraft USS Paris. Strangely, Starfleet Command had made no secret of it that it was named for the French capital. To Christian, it was pretty clear that it actually referenced the original inventor of the class's precursor, Lieutenant Tom Paris of Voyager. He was bemused by the fact that Starfleet Command would never admit it.
He walked over to the USS Paris with La'Mara and spoke to her in private. "I'm sorry about my reactions on the Bridge," he said softly. "What happened made me just feel so... uncomfortable. I was hoping that an Away Team might give me some time to myself." He hoped she didn't think he was complaining needlessly or overrepresenting the problem.

La'Mara looked up from what she was doing when Christian approached. She listened to what he had to say and smiled gently. "It's alright. I can't say I blame you for the kind of reaction. Only natural." La'Mara assured, matching his tone. "Forget about." La'Mara then looked back down at the console and picked up where she left off. Just waiting on the others now. Forget about it. Easier said than done.

Janet arrived a few minutes behind the captain and first officer, she had Made a minor pit stop in the armory where she acquired her duty belt complete with hand phaser and tricorder. She also had grabbed two mini phasers and tucked them securely into her wrist holsters she'd had sewn into her uniforms for them. She had not been ordered to take anything of a heavier caliber, but going down to a deserted planet with not much Intel on what had happened to its inhabitants really made her want a phase-rifle, or a portable photon torpedo launcher, not that she was ever actually allowed to play with the big guns outside of the holodecks...
"Crewman Janet Chan reporting as ordered captain."
She said when she arrived, she then made her way aboard the shuttle and took her position, waiting for the others now...

Having almost dragged Zack out of his quarters to the Shuttlebay, Rose arrived with him in the Shuttlebay not much later. She was still brimming with excitement for her first away mission, and the shuttlecraft was rather cool. Of course, it was better not left in her hands: she'd probably break it.
"So, when are we going down?" she said eagerly but not without patience to the Captain. "Er... I mean, Ensign Rose Digby reporting as requested, ma'am."

Forget about it, thought Christian. Easier said than done. "What can I say?" he said, concluding the private topic. "Yes, ma'am." He turned away to do some preliminary checks on the Paris and launch its computers. Let's work. When he was finished, he saw that Janet and Rose had arrived, with Zack not far behind. They reported in one by one.
Before correcting herself by reporting in, Rose had shown herself eager to go down. "Patience, Ensign," he said with a smile. "I know this is your first away mission but there's no reason to rush. We're still waiting for Lieutenant-Commander Romilly and Cadet S'Louk." I should give Commander Romilly a few pointers about duty and punctuality, he noted to himself. He had seen his complaint to the Captain and the full security report. He's not exactly the easiest Senior Staff member to deal with.

"No reason to almost pull my arm out of socket either." Zack good naturedly whispered to Rose. Maybe he was half to blame for that. Zack hadn't protested for Rose to let him go, while making their way here. He did rather like her enthusiasm though. It was cute, in a naive sort of way. "Captain, commander." Zack acknowledged. "Seems we're only half full." Zack commented taking one of the empty seats.Zack ran his hands over the controls in front of him. "What a beaut."

Hector ambled into the shuttle bay with his hands in his pockets and a large kit strapped over his chest. He was wearing a sceptical expression on his face, and he swept the rest of the away team with a discerning gaze. He looked with utter disinterest at the two whispering cadets, and hoped they were only there because they had never seen a shuttle launching before. Surely they weren't actually going on the mission? They were only twelve.
"Captain," he said evenly. For once he was wholly lacking in curiosity. Normally he would have been interested in what was on the planet, but there was something more tempting to be explored here, on the ship. His mind was still hovering around thoughts of Xena and her insistence on seeing his quarters. He was half dreading it and half desperate for the mission to be over so that he could see her again.
Regardless, he had looked at the scans of the planet and it was uninhabited. What did they need an engineer for? He was only going because not going would mean staying with Ensign Hollander.

"Captain,"
La'Mara turned in the chair she was seated. "Glad you could join us." La'Mara said politely with a smile. "Oh, for those of you that don't know each other," La'Mara was going to introduce all. Well, all that were there. She felt that they all should at the very least know every persons name so 'hey you' would not be needed. Especially if there was a need to break into teams.
"Crewman Chan; security officer, Ensign Digby, Cadet Syda; science officers, and Lieutenant Commander Romilly; chief engineer." La'Mara said as she pointed to each when she said their names. "All we have to do now is wait for Cadet S'Louk, then we can start the pre-flight sequence, and take off."

Zack turned to look at the new arrival. He didn't look exactly all that thrilled to be going down to the planet. Captain Tiho than began introducing them all. It was likely a just in case thing or maybe she didn't want people to feel awkward with those they were with. Didn't much matter.
"Hello." Zack already knew Rose. "If no one minds me asking, why are we going down with the shuttle? Think I'm missing a memo."

Christian smiled. The suggestion had been his. Partially, it was because he really wanted to try out the Paris at its intended use. Just another thing on his list, like landing the starship safely on a surface. For obvious reasons, that was not what he told Zack. The larger part of Christian's considerations were that they had to save fuel and energy. As former Operations man, he knew the amount of energy the transporters required.
"Do you know how much energy it would cost to beam up all the resources we might be able to bring back?" he asked with a chuckle. "I'd say potentially more than the energy used by your last holodeck adventure."

"The transporters weren't too keen on something in the upper atmosphere, either," Hector commented offhandedly. He had checked the parameters himself, he didn't want to sit in a shuttle with these people unless it became patently unavoidable. "Scans indicated they should work, but 'should' isn't something I'd bank on when I'm being dissolved into millions of tiny pieces."
It was a strange reading. It indicated turbulence, which was unusual, but still predicted a safe arrival. Privately Hector didn't blame them for choosing the shuttle, he would always choose solid hardware over beaming through space... unless the hardware was going to be filled with imbecilic cadets and unworthy commanding officers.
((ooc: figured this could be a tiny bit of foreshadowing for what's to come... hope it works.))

"Points taken, commanders." Zack said as he relaxed in the chair he was in. The more puzzling thing on his mind though was the holodeck. How in the world did people know about it?! Rose didn't seem like the kind of girl that would go around telling her whole entire day to everyone she knew and didn't know. What about Syell? Nah. Too upstanding; the current host anyhow. At least if rumors were going to be spread about they would not change a whole lot as this was a small ship with a smaller crew compliment.

"Their both right. However, aside from the points made, this shuttle handles fancy flying a little better than the Orion." La'Mara said cheerfully with a smile. She did love the Orion. It was a great starship; fast maneuverable. This shuttle was a bit more so. Easier to do loop the loops and such flying feats! One word: Fun. Who said they could not do their jobs and have fun at the same time?

Rose smiled at Zack as she let go of his hand when they entered the shuttle bay. "Sorry," she said to him about almost pulling his arm out of his socket. Seeking out the Paris, they went on board and Rose seated herself next to Zack. Her friend, it seems, was curious as to why the shuttle was chosen over transport. Truth be told, Rose didn't much mind, beside the fact that the shuttlecraft was cool.
At the mention of the holodeck, she just couldn't help speaking up. "How do you..." she tried to interrupt. "I'm sorry, sir, please continue." She really wondered, although she didn't mind, that people knew that Zack had spent some time with her on the holodeck. When the Captain mentioned the speed of the shuttle, Rose nodded, but then she was reminded of 'fancy flying', which brought up a fear of hers: stunt flying.
"Fancy flying?" she asked, a bit afraid. Rose had always been a little bit edgy around stunts in shuttlecraft, from her academy years onward. "We're not going down in loopings and somersaults, are we, ma'am?"
