After all the commotion a lift finally came down. Trish went over to the lift with Xena and slapped what looked like an up button on the side. Up they went. Finally. Trish pulled out her medical tricorder and began scanning around on their way up due to Ensign Harper's report. Death was certain. The DNA looked similar to the others. "Strange."

"Thank you ensign." Lydia stretched out some as she got to her feet. Being bound was not at all fun or relaxing. Lydia stepped out of the cell and looked to her crew. They seemed okay, well from a brief visual exam form a non medical expert. "I'm afraid Ensign Harper is right about her analysis. Also, this war is a fake; got it from the source."
"They are using their neighbors blood as fuel. It's no wonder they didn't want to talk about it."

James was in the process of trying to figure out a way to expose this plot to the locals and their neighbors, when he notices a light coming from a small tunnel in the corner of the cave. James begun to follow this light until he heard voices coming from a room at the end of the tunnel. James approached cautiously, but accidentally kicked a rock making an echo sound bounce down the tunnel.
Hearing the sound two figures popped into view, they drew their weapons and fired at the top of the tunnel, making rubble and rocks fall onto James. James getting hit in the head by one of the falling rocks got knocked out and fell to the ground. Being buried to death, James couldn't do anything as he was unconscious. With every rock that kept falling sealed the fate of James, he took his last breath and fell quiet, He was dead.

Trish had just reached Captain Prince's side and began scanning her to make certain she was alright. That's when she heard the rocks come tumbling down. Trishany gasped. "Commander!" Oh no!. Not a single solitary sound came from under the rubble. Mister Vhat began to chuckle. "He's dead." Vhat stated as he continued with his chuckling, despite the hold on him. "Congratulations Captain Prince."
Vhat was more crazy than Trish had initially expected. "Someone dig Commander McNight out." Maybe it wasn't too late. Captain Prince checked out okay, but Trish would like to do more scans when they were able to return to the ship. In the meantime she went back to the lift and took it down.

"He's dead." "Congratulations Captain Prince.
With a breath and roll of the eyes Lydia quickly grabbed Xena's phaser and aimed it at Vhat after making sure it was set to stun. "You talk too much." With those words, the same ones Vhat had said to her, Captain Prince shot Vhat. Oh did it ever feel good to do so. It felt so good that Lydia had to hide how she felt. It wouldn't do good for Starfleet or her crew to know that. Lydia handed Xena back her phaser.
"Let's get out of here. We'll take Vhat with us. According to Starfleet regulations we can hold him for attacking a Starfleet officer. Once we're out we need to find a way to contact the Britannah. Let them know our position."
Suddenly then entrance vanished and the room or cave rather grew darker than it already was. It was very dim except for the lights coming their way; more of Vhat's people...at least that's what Lydia suspected.

Mishtak was about to protest when he saw the Captain take Xena's phaser, but held it in, simply holding her target still for her as she fired, the stun setting knocked the prisoner out while sending a slight tingle up the Lt.'s arm. Mishtak let go when he was out and allowed his head to slam into the ground.
"Oops, he slipped."
He said it without feeling. Then, he more felt than heard the collapse over commander McKnight, and saw the lights of more of Vhat's people on their way.
"Never a dull moment, eh Captain?"
He looked from the rock slide to the incoming enemies, and knew he had to decide quickly which option he thought best; would he dig out the commander and let the rest of the crew fend off the enemy patrol, or would he stand and defend his crew mates against the enemy and come back for the commander... It was a very difficult decision when he thought in star fleet terms, but his Klingon genetics came back with a roar of rage as he drew his phaser in his right hand, and his hidden dagger in the left. He stepped past the rest of the crew and stared down the men coming toward them...
"Lt. Xena, get the Captain and the others out of here, I'll cover you."
with that he unleashed a growl and a roar of a true Klingon warrior as he began down the corridor toward the enemy. The roaring growl froze the attackers in their path as none of them had ever encountered a Klingon before, let alone one as pissed off as Lt. Mishtak was at this moment. They had kidnapped his captain, attempted to hurt his friend Sharpay and had most likely killed his commander; this was not a happy Klingon...
Mishtak waited until he could clearly see whoever it was approaching them, he had been acting on pure instinct, but reason told him to identify the as hostiles before engaging, to ensure no innocents were harmed... but then again what innocents would know about this place to begin with... he was torn by this information, his Klingon blood raged within, aching for combat and bloodshed, but his star fleet training held him still to ensure no one was harmed without provocation...
and so he waited, for some sign that they are indeed the enemy and not a rescue team. He would wait for them to fire first, then it would be all over for them, for he had a war of his own to wage down here, and nothing short of a miracle would stop him...

Xena had been somewhat shock at Captain Prince's action. This was the Federation, Starfleet. They had rules. Not that Xena was sorry about what had happened, it was just unexpected. Of course there had been a few captains that on occasions threw the book out the window, maybe Captain Prince was one of them.
Get out? How? Xena wondered as the place had closed up. Naturally there had to be a way out. Though it would be hard to find since the cave had gotten dimly lit. They didn't have their lights either and no phaser compression rifle that came with an attached light.
Not soon after the foot falls of others were heard. Xena was ready to fight, however...
"Lieutenant Xena, get the Captain and the others out of here, I'll cover you."
Darn those orders! Xena looked to Captain Prince and Ensign Harper. She led them to the lift.

The footsteps got louder and louder. There were five men. One of them Vhat's brother with Vidia positioned in front of him with a phaser to her head. The others had cuffed, half sadaited Britannah. Some of which were small children. To a Starfleet officer who has ever been inside a Borg cube it looked like the Britannah were being led to the assimilation chamber.
A fimiliar figure came into Vidia's view; Mishtak. She had told him about the cameras, and what she had been instructed to do before she burst out of the library. Of course she knew saying what she did would put her life in jepordy, but it wasn't like things were getting any better.
"Act and Vidia will be the first to die out of this group." The man smiled an erie smile. "I'm Vhat's brother, Fazarrah. Nice to see you all again. Now everyone, take a seat in that cell, and tell me what you did to my brother, and none of you will get hurt."
"Don't lis-" Fazarrah hit Vidia a top the head with his weapon. "Shut up!"
"Now what is it going to be?" Fazarrah asked looking to the Starfleet.

"Oops, he slipped."
Sharpay could not help but let out a small laugh. She quickly covered her mouth. It was very unprofessional and un-Starfleet of her to laugh at something like that; especially in this kind of situation. Then again nothing about Sharpay was exactly professional. If the war had been around when she was, well Shar would have without a doubt been a member of the Maquis.
She relucantly followed Lieutenant Xena as the woman ushered her and the captain towards a lift. She too heard the foot steps of others. Then a voice broke through and she stopped and looked down from where she was.
"Act and Vidia will be the first to die out of this group." "I'm Vhat's brother, Fazarrah. Nice to see you all again. Now everyone, take a seat in that cell, and tell me what you did to my brother, and none of you will get hurt."
"Act? Dude, we are so not performers. Seriously, I can't even juggle." Sharpay said hoping it would distract Vhat's brother long enough so the angry Klingon could pounce.
"Now what is it going to be?"
"Well..."

Mishtak saw Vidia being led by the men with a phaser aimed at her head. At seeing this, he did not hear the words anyone spoke, for his rage was too great and all he could see was red... red like the blood that would flow by his warrior hands... he leapt down the corridor at them, firing his phaser into the chest of the man to the left of Vidia and Fazarrah, his speed was incredible, his rage violent and the violence of his actions were deffinately unbecoming of a Starfleet officer, though he would have been given medals if he were a Klingon officer. His blade lased out at Fazarrah, slicing his arm and giving Vidia the chance to get away. Mishtak spun, pushing her away from his enemy as he brought his head down into Fazarrah forehead, sending him to the ground... phaser fire lit up the hallway as the men opened fire on the starfleet officers, and as Mishtak fired back at them...
Mishtak's phaser had been set to stun, but it began to blink, indicating a need to be recharged. 'Just great.' He thought to himself, 'now what?' he had a thought but it was a long shot, he kicked Fazarrah in the face before grabbing vidia, Firing two more rounds into the chests of two of the attackers, and dragging her into a dark corner with him. Once hidden he inspected his phaser, as he thought it might be, it was drained. He put it back in it's holster, switched his blade to his other hand and held Vidia down out of sight with him, waiting for the other two men to come closer and spring his trap...
Vidia seemed scared at first, but her fear seemed to fade slightly once Mishtak had her out of sight, he waited patiently, then when the last two men were within range, he lept on them, like a giant cat springing onto it's prey, he drove his blade deep into the neck of the one on the left and with his left arm he knocked the weapon from the last man's hand. The man dove after it, but Mishak grabbed him by the collar and swung him hard into the ground with a sickening 'thwack' indicating his skull had been cracked upon impact.
Mishtak turned to go back to Vidia as Fazarrah grabbed at his ankle, these people were not as strong as Klingon's or Romulans, but they seemed to be stronger than a typical human, still not much of a challenge for a well trained warrior... Fazarrah managed to trip Mishtak, sending him face first to the ground before springing onto the Lt's back...
Mishtak attempted to get up, but the man on his back punched him in the back of the head, near the base of the skull... a hit that on a human could be fatal... Mishtak went limp, he laid there until Fazarrah got off him and made a move to grab Vidia... Mishtak rolled quickly, kicking Fazarrah's legs out from under him, when Fazarrah fell backwards into Mishtak's waiting grasp... the sound of Fazarrah's neck being broken echoed in the hallway and then there was no sound but the sobbing of Vidia and the prisoners...

Yeah, never a dull moment.
Lydia followed Xena like Harper had, and stopped at the same time. They were all definitely between a rock and a hard place, a very hard place. To make matters worse small children had been brought along as well as Vidia. How low could they go? Or rather how much lower?
Lydia elbowed Ensign Harper for her comment. At the moment it was all she could do to say she didn't approve of what she said; it could have gotten her killed. They all needed to be very careful. However Lieutenant Mishtak acted before Lydia could say anything. The way he was going, well, security was a good choice for him. She watched for a minute.
"Enough!" Lydia shouted authoritatively. She moved a head of Xena and Sharpay, making her way first despite any risk that may come her way. "Lieutenant when we get back to the ship I'd like a word in private." Those words weren't something many officers liked to hear; especially when they were firm stating that it was not optional.
"You and Ensign Harper see to a way out. Perhaps Miss Vidia could be of assistance to the two of you. Tell her if she'd like an asylum I'll grant her one."
"Lieutenant Xena, come with me. We are going to investigate the other side of this tunnel. Doctor, stay with the prisoners and care for them."
Captain Prince first went to the children before heading straight to the other side where their attackers had come from. Innocence should never have to suffer.

Out of sight, but never out of mind. Vidia thought as she watched the action go on before her. Being tossed about didn't help much either, but she was glad when it was all over. She did cry but only for a moment. She had to stay strong, though it might not be expected by the Starfleet officers, but she expected it of herself, and not to mention for the young children.
They had to be scared enough as it was. She was scared. Though Vidia did over hear what Captain Prince had said, and a very tiny smile appeared on her lips. They were kind after all. One thing did puzzle her a little bit. She came out from hiding and walked up to Mishtak. "Thank you." Vidia threw her arms around Mishtak giving him a hug. She hesitated before speaking again. The reason for the hesitation was, well a fight like that on her planet marked the celebration of a marriage, but these people were different.
"Your captain should be careful. She's heading into...what do you call it? Lions den? She should have taken you. You're so brave." Vidia then gave Mishtak a kiss on the cheek.

Sharpay's eyes narrowed as Vidia hugged and kissed Mishtak. She had already miss out on all the fighting fun and now this. Oh! Sharpay's hands balled into fists and she swiftly made her way down.
"Yes, very brave." Sharpay said dryly as she pulled Vidia off of Mishtak and stepped in between the two. "You heard the captain. We have a job to do, and it doesn't require compliments or the start of a Ferengi mating dance." Shar looked at the two. "Now lets get to professional business and not monkey." Shar emphasized on professional and the word not.

Mishtak stood there, silent and breathing, regaingin his calm and focus after the battle. Vidia hugged and kissed him, he heard her say thank you... he also heard the Captain's orders and knew his actions were not becoming of a starfleet officer, but they were the actions of a warrior in a combat situation, he'd make sure to explain that as best as he could when the time came, but for now they had to get out of there... Vidia mentioned the lion's den and Mishtak wanted to disobey orders and go after the captain, but Sharpay stepped in and spoke... he would follow his orders, and then come back...
He did "the Picard manuever", straightning out his uniform shirt, before speaking again...
"Vidia, we will need your help finding a way out, but first there is something else we must do... Sharpay, please take Vidia to the Doctor and have her examined with the children, I shall be there momentarily."
He did not give anyone the chance to argue as he went quickly to where Commander McKnight had been buried, he began grabbing rocks and tossing them aside, for the larger ones he managed to roll them out of the way, he did not care if anyone helped or not, he had to get to the Commander...
After several moments of digging he found the commander, at first it was nothing more than some red fabric, but he dug more until he was able to pull the commanders body free of the ruble, he was no doctor but he knew what death looked like. Mishtak laid the commander flat on his back, Mishtak kneeled over James's body, and using his thimbs opened the dead man's eyes... Mishtak stared into them breifly then threw his head back and bellowed loudly as he performed the Klngon death ritual for his fallen commander. In Klingon tradirion the body was then discarded as nothing more than an empty shell, but James was not Klingon and his family would want him to be laid to rest according to their own customs, so Mishtak scooped up the body and carried it back to the others.
"His spirit will need time to reachj St-Vo-Kor or wherever his people beleive it will go, I shall keep Ak'voh over his body until we are able to return to the Orion. Vidia, please assist us in finding an exit, preferably one with the least resistance."
It was now time to follow orders, he had protected his friends from Vhat's brother and had retreived the Commander, now he had to get them out of this place, after they were safe he would come back for the Captain if needed, but he had the utmost faith in Lt. Xena's abilities to keep the two of them safe.

"Vidia, we will need your help finding a way out, but first there is something else we must do... Sharpay, please take Vidia to the Doctor and have her examined with the children, I shall be there momentarily."
Examined with the children? She certainly has certain assets that set her apart from the children. Sharpay took a hold of Vidia's upper arm and dragged her over to Trishany and the children. "Apparently this child requires a check up too." Shar said to Trish as she let go of Vidia. Not too shortly after a loud howel was heard. Everyone turned to see Mishtak with his head thrown back, well all but Sharpay. She knew what he was doing. Just don't cause a cave in or rock slide.
Sharpay pulled out her tricorder and flipped it open. She then pulled a very small silver colored tool from her golden locks. Shar was going to adjust her tricorder to be a better helper. Naturally her trick, like others were not Starfleet approved, but this was an emergency. Besides, she didn't know how much longer she could stand to be around Vidia.
