After getting the transporters to full again, Vistrol transported Lieutenant Rei directly to sick bay then went to transporter room one where she knew the team would be waiting.
End Vistrol.

Captain Prince stopped short when the turbolift doors opened. The bridge was in shambles! What happened to my ship?! Shaking the thought off she continued on her way to the command center, careful not to trip on any rubble.
"Report." Lydia said authoritatively as she swept some rubble off of her chair.
Obviously they had been in some kind of skirmish, that much was fairly certain as the ship would not just fall apart at the seams. "Somebody get the repair teams up here now." Captain Prince ordered. Taking her seat she punched up some data from the center console. Uh huh...
"Alright, here's what we're going to do." Lydia started off. "Someone give that ship an added boost with a quick shot from our tractor beam, send thanks to the Britannah and send them the coordinates to that underground lair. Make a record in the ship log, then launch a warning buoy before we take off." Lydia looked at her crew on the bridge.
"Now hop to it, and if it can't be done I don't want to hear about it. Just find a way."

Carmine worked frantically to get tactical back up, but was unsuccessful in his endeavors... the captain ordered a report, guess he'd have to give it... he did his best to stand at attention while shaking with nervousness at addressing the captain for the first time...
"Ma'am, tactical and helm are both down, minor systems keep failing, I'm afraid the bridge no longer has control over the ship... engineering seems to be doing their best to restore the functions in order to get us out of here, but it doesn't seem to be enough..."
he kept praying that she would not shoot the messenger, because all he had was bad news...
"...and from what sensors we do have... they indicate that the dark matter ship is towing the escape pod back towards the planet..."
he double checked what he said and was pretty sure he had covered everything... he then returned to rewiring the console and hoping something he did would work...

Some report. I leave the ship, and when I come back everything is in shambles.
"At least there was some good news in there." Lydia commented.
She checked to see if the ship wide comm was functioning. It was. She opened a channel.
"Captain Prince to all hands. We need to get this ship back up and running. Anyone with a level three degree in engineering or operations or higher aid the repair teams. Work on getting main power restored first. We'll worry about the rest later. Prince out."
Standing, Lydia went over to helm control to see what she could do. She laied under the console and pulled the phaser out from under that was kept there for emergencies. Putting it to the lowest setting she shot at one of the systems. The short blast should be enough to catch an re-power at least for a little while. You could call it cheating or whatever you liked. It was just an old trick she had learned from talking to a former Maquis engineer.
Putting the phaser back she went and got a hyperspanner from the little kit kept by the small engineering station. She went back to the CONN and used it on the rest of its systems. She then got up after she was finished and walked over to Carmine. She extended the hyperspanner. "This should help you greatly." Captain Prince said with a warm, friendly smile. She knew a lot of the junior officers tended to be afraid of the captain and the ships senior officers. She did not wish for that to be the case on her ship.

Christian, apparently, had passed out in the last blow to the ship before it had temporarily seen off its adversary, and was roused from his state by the order to report from Captain Prince. "C-captain..." he stammered, then visibly had to fight against an emotional response, for he was very happy to have his Commanding Officer back. He got up, turned to face the Captain, then affirmed Tactical's report. "Carmine is quite correct, ma'am. I hand back the bridge embarrassed by the damage caused under my command, begging your understanding, and shall give you a full report once the situation is resolved, if you please." That was his way to get out of the uncomfortable situation.
"I shall be returning to my station at..." Christian began, then noticed the seat of the Executive Officer was still empty. "Where is Commander McNight, Captain?" he asked. The answer is: not here, he thought, and took the second Chair.

"No need to be embarrassed commander. I do look forward to that report however." Lydia said as she went back to the command center. She really was looking forward to the report. Something must have really went on up here while they were all down there.
Lydia rubbed her forehead and let out a small sigh as she looked to Christian to answer his question about Command McNight. Loosing a crew member was not an easy thing to deal with. Lydia figured morale just might sink a bit more since it was the loss of their first officer.
"Unfortunately not all of us made it back." Captain Prince said doing her best to hold in her feelings for the moment. It would not do good for anyone to see her when she was not at her best. "Commander McNight fought valiantly and will always be remembered." She wondered how Commander Hughes would take what she had just told.
Also the fact that he would now be her first officer because of McNight's death. It was not the ideal way to get a head in one career, but sometimes it just happened. Just then a call from engineering came through.
"Warp drive in now back online along with a few secondary systems."
"Acknowledged. Good job." Lydia cut the comm line. She looked to the junior officer who was now at helm.
"Set a course back to the Delta Quadrant, warp four." Sitting down Lydia said; "Engage at your convenience."
Off the Intrepid class vessel went.

Christian heard the tragic news of the death of the First Officer. He had only known McNight for a short period time, but still, he felt grief. This was for multiple reasons. First, he was once again confronted by the very real danger of life in Starfleet. To cast oneself into the unknown was a worthy cause, but one could cast oneself into death as easily, something weighing heavily, no doubt, on the mind of many an officer. Second, he had come to respect Mr McNight as part of the order of things on the ship. To cope with such a drastic, sudden change, not just in the natural order of things but also in his own role, made him feel very uncertain. Third, it struck him that if even a first-class officer like McNight could die, then would he be up to scratch? Christian well realised who the next First Officer would be after the death of the previous occupant of the said office.
"May I offer my sincere condolences, Captain," he said, still in thoughts. "To the Orion and to you, personally, for the loss of one of your closest officers. I shall immediately start the funeral arrangements." He then sought for a way to offer his services in a respectful manner, so as to make the transition into his new role easier. "Are there any other things you wish me to see to?"
Waiting for the answer, he got the message that warp was back online. Seated in the Executive Officer's chair, Christian glanced at his console. "All systems fully operational, all decks report ready to leave orbit," he reported.
"Lieutenant," he said to the helmsman. "If you please?" The engines engaged. Orion was on its way to the Delta Quadrant.

Post by Lt. JG Lisa Huygens on Jul 19, 2010 5:56:13 GMT -5
Lisa had been on the Bridge the whole time. When Christian passed out, Lisa did what he would no doubt have expected her to do: try to order the chaos gently until the Captain returned. She couldn't help smiling as the Captain returned, but the smile soon faded after the news of the XO's death broke. The death of a fellow crewman was never pleasant.
The Assistant Chief Science Officer, however, was not ready to be stuck in grief so much that she didn't see the huge implications this would have for Christian. No doubt he would be a good First Officer, but she doubted he would be comfortable away from his familiar computer stations. It was then that Lisa hatched a plan for a surprise party... that is, after McNight's funeral and Christian's promotion. It might make Christian more at ease with his new function for its inauguration to be not duty, but celebration.
A while after Christian had given the order to engage to the helm, the Chief Operations Officer had left the Bridge. Now safe from her friend's ears, she made an unconventional request of Captain Prince. "Captain," she asked. "How would you feel about a party for our new Commander well after Mr McNight's funeral? It might brighten up the mood both for him and for the crew."
The Science terminal bleeped. End of shift, to be taken over by Ensign Turek. "Ensign Turek," she said, touching her commbadge. "This is Lieutenant Huygens to remind you of your shift." Knowing the Vulcan, she knew the gentle reminder would be redundant.
Lisa left the Bridge. She had something to discuss with the bartender in the Mess Hall.
